Don't really care for the new maps tbh, more interested in the KEX port having Boom compatibility. Finally Boom wads as official addons?

I wonder if they finally fixed the problem where you can't play splitscreen with one Keyboard and one controller. I complained about that years ago in the Steam forums.

I may play the new episode just to see what it's like. Although I'm still kind of jaded on the new menu and eula for fucking doom.

I just uploaded one of my single (Boom) maps into the mods list, very cool.
...
The port crashes every time once you enter a certain area.

Dang. This is will probably happen a million times over. I don't know what the likelihood is that they can just import community-made source port code to their paid product, but designing a new thing from scratch to imitate community made source ports to run 30 years of community-made wads, especially when it's being made by employees who have a lukewarm investment in the community is probably gonna have problems. There's an infinite amount of stuff to stress-test this with.

Unsurprising. Took part in a Quake jam and lead almost gave up making it KEX compatible. Those "official ports" are held together by duct tape and will always be the inferior choice.

I wonder if they finally fixed the problem where you can't play splitscreen with one Keyboard and one controller. I complained about that years ago in the Steam forums. Not since last time I tested it. Meanwhile Quake 1 lets you do that I think. The enhanced versions with splitscreen did finally make it onto GOG a while back. So I recommend downloading the DRM-free installers in case they do something to screw up this new combined version. I think Dehacked support is still substandard though, and some Doom2.exe compatible stuff crashes in the "Enhanced" Port.

Someone uploaded Auger Zenith and you can see right away that there's no DEHACKED support, the glass refuses to stay shattered and just resets itself.

I fucken knew dehacked was a bad idea. DeHackEd was just for the sound, wasn't it? If the glass is resetting then instant lowering floors don't seem to work...that'd be a bigger issue...

If one can deal with a big fat spoonful of Xaser-isms ("oh look, a map ending in a circular portal!"), the two new episodes look very solid from what I've seen of vile's playthrough. Personally I quit five minutes in, but that's a problem I'm having with Doom in general lately, so likely not representative of the product's actual quality.

DeHacked was also used for the animating rain. if the rain gets its blocking properties back from the torches it replaces then i think some of the raining maps will be unplayable.

Again, there is nothing wrong with the dehacked. The new legacy of rust wad uses it. It seems completely fine in A;Z from a cursory glance. This new port doesn't handle line action 24 correctly, which is why the glass is screwy.

Interestingly, there's a couple of maps were the glass works as properly - my map, 40oz's maps and valkiriforce's map all function properly. No issues with the Dehacked, the rain levels work fine (other than the glass issue). I think it might have something to do with the height offset of the glass midtextures.
EDIT: Seems like they removed it.

I don't understand, this new steam release doesn't include PWADs such as A;Z, right? Anyone going out of their way to download PWADs would know of a dozen other source ports, so why are we worried about this?
Edit: Ok I actually looked into it rather than just making assumptions, I see what's going on. Still, this is a problem across the board, not just with our stuff. Nothing we need to or really can do about it.

Ok, maybe someone can clarify this for me, been wondering for a while:
Am I right in assuming that workshop/ official addons are basically a thing for console players, and entirely irrelevant if you play on PC?

if i remember correctly, i think what the affected maps have in common is the glass textures are doing what TNT's Eternal Doom does, in which they use a switch texture to animate the change from glass to no glass. Theres ways to do the effect by using lower unpegging to offset the texture into the floor, which feels janky to make but makes for a better noiseless presentation.
The glass is changing back to its off/on texture like a repeatable switch when it should be a single use switch that stays on after use. Probably an easy fix. I cant think of any other (notable) wads besides Eternal Doom, that use switch textures for this effect. team TNT has always been kinda known for its signature level of experimental doom jank.
As shown in biz's video (thanks for confirming btw), the bug is not particularly game breaking in any capacity outside of this particular usage of custom switch textures, it just kinda looks unprofessional imo.
I think nightdive might consider this bug negligible unless team TNT fans play Eternal Doom and complain about it enough. Nightdive employs Edward850 whom ive seen show a loud and marked bias towards doomworld and its favorites and against doomer boards + dbp so I would not bet on him advocating for Auger Zenith compatibility at all even if people ask for it.
