Just as an aside, and this is not pointed at you good-old, but generally I really fucking hate the overuse of the work "Cringy" "Cringe" by people on the internet.

1. To shrink back, as in fear; cower.
2. To behave in a servile way; fawn.
Are we really cowering, or behaving in a servile way? WTF is this shit, some kind of neo-emo? I don't feel embarrassed for others, I just don't give a fuck about things unimportant to me. I don't feel anything towards things that I think are stupid, or annoying. As long it is not impeding my life, ignore it, or this case, I scorn it, until I feel I have sufficiently vented my displeasure. Only some hipster scum bag piece of dog shit would go around feeling embarrassed for others that don't satisfy their sensibilities, in which case, they should be stabbed in the fucking throat.

@kush I'm not a big fan of most modern words either, most of them are cri- oh nvm. I have an exception for a few words, cr*nge and b*uh. Maybe there are a few more but I don't really remember. Cr*nge is something you do when you see something you badly hate or something you really hate happens, even if it doesn't affect your life. That's the way it is being used on the internet.

I see @contracommando was right again. This is indeed some neo-emo, or worse. The modern generation of retardation made cowardice their normal. Men gave up trying to pretend to be men. Bravery is no longer a virtue, cowering is the expected reaction to the outside threat looming at obese chair-bound freaks and their comfortable sedentiary existence devoid of challenges and danger.
I must admit, I revelled in the glory of my own posts here being called "a diary of serial killer in the making" and whatnot. It is really inspiring to strike fear into hearts of the mediocrity by the way one naturally is, without actually trying to instill fear out of deliberation.

In internet context no one uses cringe with the oxford definition in mind and it's said when you see something embarassing, like when you are walking to go to work and you happen to pass in front of a furry con and think "lmao, that's cringe". Or like when you see this thread.

I think the bastardization of English is terrible too. Uh, the Scots have been using cringe for centuries to infer a physical reaction to negative empathic stimuli. Shit, the word is so ingrained in our mindset that it's near impossible to think of a direct synonym, even writing the clunky definition above was surprisingly tricky. I imagine we use cringe so much because we live next door to the fucking English. I'm not surprised they don't want to write it in their shitty little dictionaries. |
