Thing Placement and polishing is now underway. Guess I'll need to work out Google Drive or something to upload this map to... Maybe a screenshot to go with it, too.

Flying nomonsters shot here... Here's a downloadIt contains a text file with the following info: Map Name : Short Space Shock Author : James "Phobus" Cresswell Release : 01/12/17 Port : GZDoom (tested on 3.2.1) Editors Used : GZDoom Builder (Bugfix) R2992; SLADE 3 Build Time : 8 hours Music : The_Arbiter.mid by William "Ihara" Peddycord (Halo 3 OST MIDI cover) Credits : Xeep-Eep (project idea); Memfis (compilation and credit of textures and flats used) It's not much of a map, all told. If I'd have used Doom 2 format, I'd have been able to make basically the same thing in half the time, but I had fun playing with UDMF and isn't fun the point of these things? It's probably not ver "VRACK", unfortunately...

Hmm, you sure you won't regret this later? Maybe you can make a simple boss arena to put at the end of the wad?

If I understand correctly there are 4 hours left. But maybe Xeep-Eep can give you a bit more if absolutely necessary?

You'll have 50 minutes... Also tbh I wouldn't like to make exceptions when it comes to time. 00:00 GMT, that's it yo. Maybe like 15 minutes over that just in case, but that's all.

Download: Corrupted IndustryI followed the hellish converted techbase theme but there is not that much hell to be honest, especially if you miss the secrets. So try to find them all! The map is either limit-removing or vanilla (I didn't test in doom2.exe so there might be tutti-fruttis I guess). The music is from e1m5 of megawad.wad.

FDA for Phobus' map in GZDoom v3.2.1. I really liked the blue & white theme, especially the use of that texture with blue stripes was so pleasant. Bridges were cool except I felt like there was something weird about all of them being so thin. I was almost expecting that "table" to collapse under cyberdemon's weight. I think the abundance of plasma ammo made everything a little too easy since it's such a powerful weapon capable of disrupting the attacks of several monsters at once. Also some of the dynamic lights seemed a bit too intense (is that the word?), see e.g. the exit switch. Aside from that, quite enjoyable and stylish overall. Rather short obviously, but that's what happens when you challenge yourself to work with an unfamiliar format. Would be interesting to see what you can do with UDMF without a time limit.

FDA for joe-ilya's map. Sorry, I used -complevel 2 by mistake, so the cacodemons didn't open on my playthrough. Anyway, this came as a surprise as the texturing seemed more organized than in most maps I've played from the author. The architecture was also rather neat with these giant windows and pretty arches. The music made me go "huh?" at first, but I started to actually enjoy it towards the end. Doom and piano can be a strangely fascinating combo. I found the pacman "islands" absolutely adorable, but didn't like the precise jumping required to escape them. For a moment I even thought that the level must be broken since I couldn't find a way to reach the final switch. The floating wood wall in the first area was weird too. Props for including three secrets. A pleasant little level overall, worked well with the atmospheric blue sky.

Goddamn it I don't think I'm gonna make it. I'm gonna be ready to map just in time for this thing to end. I had a cool idea for a Salem Witch Trials map too.

Eh, I say go ahead and make something anyway. I would like this session to be a success with as many maps as possible. Screw the limits when they get between you and fun.

FDA for Walter's map. I found the midi kinda obnoxious so I played with IDMUS25. It was nice to see the use of various recolored textures, although it was difficult to see some of them in the dark (in software mode many colors turn brown in darkness). The monster placement was rather basic (mostly just enemies attacking from one direction) but fun enough, and the arch-vile definitely had me worried for a moment. Near the end there was a fight with some demons but they couldn't even reach me because of all these tech pillars. Aside from that, a cute little level with a lot of variety in visuals.

Thanks for the play through anf feedback, Memfis! I regret that I won't be able to reciprocate until Monday, as I'm away from home for a couple of days. I was rushing to finish my map in order to be done and out the door by 20:00...
Glad to read that my first proper foray into UDMF wasn't a total disaster. I'll have to give it a proper go some time when I have more space, so I can work out the stylistic stuff and find more efficient ways of working.
Congratulations to everybody who's managed to produce something so far - it's a good turnout for a small user base.

FDA for Xeep-Eep's map. I found the start annoying (having to kill big guys with nothing but a shotgun) and I wasn't pleased with the inescapable pit. The rest was better. The base is shiny for sure and the midi used is very catchy and pleasant. The overall design is a bit too unorthodox and busy for my taste but it's not bad. Unfortunately the author is a prick to 40oz. :\

FDA for supercupcaketactics' map. Unfortunately I was too fast and downloaded the bugged version (included in the zip), so I didn't get to experience the horrifying teleporting cyberdemon duo. The visuals were wonderfully crazy as usual, and the puzzle nature of the combat made this one of the most interesting levels in the session. Funny start with the demon provoking you to shoot, and I think Ribbiks would be proud of the baron mini-maze. I'm afraid of trying the fixed version...
