yeah I saw that, I was going to call him nasty names for being rude enough to presume that he could tell us what to talk about on our own forum (but didn't, obviously). That said, I hope he reconsiders too, it's sad seeing people get treated that way and then immediately grovel to their attackers.

He uses "very bad people" because that's what the sentiment over there is. Learn to read and grasp at least some basic literary devices dmdr

Of course his experience is negative, he detailed in his post here why. Don't you all despise some of the shit that's being said here too? Yes this forum is quite welcoming but that doesn't change the content that's often being posted here.

Yet despite his personal disdain he has still pretty much sacrificed his reputation in the wider community over this forum. I don't see how could you hold it against him.

xeepeep, just because someone here dislikes what another says doesn't mean it is acceptable to bar them from saying it. Else you wouldn't be able to make 90% of your own posts, because I don't like the majority of your posts.

@dmslr, yeah. Because of this fucking thread, I actually visit doomworld when a link to something going on is posted here. I stopped visiting it otherwise long time ago, because that place is unbearable - any fun happening gets shut down or even deleted/hidden from view, people yell at those who complain about certain gameplay stuff, instead of trying to commiserate and help overcome the frustration (you don't have to agree with the complaint, just be a nice human to someone who is temporarily upset), or there is backseat moderation when someone makes a thread, several say "it should be closed" when it's actually perfectly legit topic related to doom.

There was also a DW-related accident where I developed irrational hatred towards person who was in high appraise, like, becoming a hater. What's different between being someone's hater and a personal hatred? The first is a disease, when the person hadn't actually hurt you or your family (when hatred would actually be justified), but you hate their popularity because it is linked to a certain attitude of people who also act like bullies towards those who don't like the same stuff. Fortunately, I never acted upon this, because I didn't have an account on doomworld. The cure? I stopped visited doomworld for months, and it went away. Completely.

That was only one of several times when I had to take a break from doomworld and dooming for several months, because I felt agitated over what was posted there. I was always glad I didn't have an account on doomworld on that time, because the popular opinions there really made me boil. Why didn't I came to doomer boards back then? Doomer boards didn't have https, or it wasn't configured to be automatically redirected to it. Only when I noticed the doomer boards is now accessible by https, it was acceptable to my threat model to register, which I finally did when the lockdown thing happened. I then discovered the joy of playtesting in the form of FDA and similar demo recordings, which led me to appreciate the kind of maps I didn't formerly appreciate, basically broadened my understanding of doom, and so I started to visit doomer boards daily.

After the Shadowman's incident (where NotJabba has banned Shadowman and began criticising his past effors retroactively), I stopped visiting doomworld altogether. I already was visiting it only rarely, as doomer boards was sufficient for my dooming needs, but that prompted me to completely severe myself from that toxic place, the doomworld.

But you fucks keep bringing up that place, and I yet again get dragged into a net of negativity that place has sprung.

Also, you may be missing the context, but dew and others were arguing that Doomworld merely doesn't want to advertise us, which is why they banned DBPs. And I actually think you guys are bringing doomworld to my attention too much, I guess we could reply... symmetrically?
