Not sure if that's the best title, but I'm talking about the one which happened a few weeks ago, in which glenzinho, doomro, Phobus and a few other deleted their accounts. Well, shit happened, and that may or may not have been because of the thread asking to make DBPs easy for noobs. Some time ago @joe-ilya, in the discord server, predicted the creation of a different Doomer Boards-esque forum, one that is administered by glenzinho. Yep. That's what happened. Not exactly a separate forum, but a community project. Most, if not all of the people who deleted their accounts already made a post there. I'm not sure what to imply from this, except the fact that they aren't coming back... I do like the idea of a few custom monsters and the usage of ZDoom features, but otherwises it's just a DBP clone. |

Also, if you are going to point us towards this new Israel, I'd recommend actually... you know, linking to it, rather than linking back to your own fucking post in an attempt to get readers stuck in an infinite causality loop.

Couldn't they like, setup a thread in Doom Projects here instead of leaving? There is no law prohibiting people to run community projects other than DBP here.

well, didn't release I forgot to put a link and that for some reason I forgot to turn superscript off. Couldn't they like, setup a thread in Doom Projects here instead of leaving? There is no law prohibiting people to run community projects other than DBP here. They won't make a thread about it in a forum whose owner they badly hate, especially when they have other options.

So what did I do wrong? To this day it was never clearly dictated to me what they want or why they hate me or anything. I've been totally open to compromises, but all of their negative thoughts and opinions about me pretty much all took place out of my view. How am I supposed to respond to that?

Well, things could have continued exactly as they were and they could still lead DBPs just how they wanted but there HAD to be a power struggle and thus come up with 256+ reasons on why they can't be here anymore. It's all stupid but yeah good for them finally doing what they wanted to. They could have just said they wanted to do a ZDoom project lel. Nice.

The whole point of starting doomer boards project in the first place was to bring us together to practice mapping so those that participated in it could use those skills to work on projects of their own. This is actually almost exactly what I had hoped for except that they deleted their accounts in some loud act of revenge but still use the doomer boards branding to upsell their own work which is weak as hell. The brand didn't make their maps worth anything; their talent did. Like, wtf any of them are fully capable mappers on their own. You don't have to be like LOOK WE'RE THE REAL DOOMER BOARDS GUYS PLAY OUR PROJECT INSTEAD.

zedonk, I think he meant that all people replying have contributed to dbps in the past, not necessary in the literal sense of "combat weary veteran", but like has a track record of at least one map contributed. That is, despite the different format, no new persons (who haven't participated in DBPs) have exposed their interest as of yet. I will probably check up on zdoom.org rules a bit to see if I can register and give demo feedback (assuming anyone would want to watch ZDoom 2.8.1 demos... well, at least they defined the target well enough) cause I don't have any actual beef with the departed members, and I actually miss them. However, I remember there were some personal issues about zdoom.org and/or its staff's opinions for which I choose to not register there.

Thanks Vigilantdoomer. I've never seen the word veteran used in that way before hence the confusion. (I admit it's nice to fantasize about being some sort of legendary pro mapper but I don't think that's going to happen and I'm ok with that.)

Also I'm not in Doomer Boards private discord so i don't know in depth why the schism happened, but I'm with 40oz on using the monicker (that to me sounds like... Doomer Boards killers?) and leaving forever the boards, that sounds pretty weird as a choice... |

I disagree. @doomro was a cool guy and he posted in other subforums too. I miss him.
Also, the posers claim is completely unwarranted, the guys were talented, what the fuck with the "poser" claim? Granted, carry on badmouthing others, it reveals you for who you are, not just to me but to outside observers. Discrediting your opinion wouldn't pose much of a problem from now on, since you are doing a pretty good job at it yourself.

It's a fact. :oma: I mean yeah Discord is not exactly the best place, but for some people it's the only way to communicate and stay in touch with them. It's still miles better than a subreddit or any other social media group, but I'll prefer a forum over a discord server any day. But then again way too many people prefer discord so it's not as easy. About the lost members, I don't think any of them were bad people at all, it definitely is sad to see them go. |
