Cacowards 2023 Doom's 30th Birthday

Already congratulated lunchlunch in a pm.

Already seen convos about the inclusion of doomerboards projects on there talked about here before. I have already said my piece to these people directly in 2021 when the auger;zenith drama happened. Not much else to say imo.

It is really sad that DBP №59: "Zeppelin Armada" wasn't mentioned anywhere on the 2023's Cacowards.
For me this was a holy miracle in the flesh, where I witnessed dialogues, quests, currency system and working shop made in pure limit-removing w/o any Boom/MBF21 trickery.
Bizarre, but very real wizardry that everyone can touch by themselves.

Also, I want to add a small note about DBP №60: "Eldritch Voyage", because it was a pinnacle of software render with its fascinating semi-transparent water.

But the most painful & bitter thing that people like this is labeling everyone inside one particular community.
These awards themselves aren't bad, but all those entitled people that doesn't know a true value of any shining member of entire community (that is bigger than their cursed forum) just a slow toxic bomb with rusted clock mechanism.
Yes, within one or few years effect seems to not be that drastic, but we have an entire generation of gamers that gonna grow up in the environment like that.

I am preferring to live in society with "fiery" people, but these ones gonna be true humans that is honest with themselves and they are not approving any useless sugarcoating neither creating of the damned safe spaces.

I'm glad that Scuba Steve has confirmed my suspicions about certain wads that are deserving of Cacowards not getting them because of not liking the person. Final Neodoom is a good example of this back in 2015 when it didn't win a cacoward because of them not liking the author. I thought it was deserving of a cacoward because of how good it was to me.

of the runners up i kinda liked boomer beyond vanilla, el viaje, machete, tetanus, head trauma, ad mortem, glaive 3. in fact i liked them more than the actual awards, but that's usually the case

I love that Scuba Steve places the blame on how this site is moderated. Tow the line or be memory holed. Fortunately the sort of coastal ultra-progressive cult BS behind that sort of logic is losing steam. There will be a time where they have to either course correct or lose almost all relevance among the wider Doom audience. And if that doesn't happen none of this will matter anyway.

EDIT: As for the awards in general I'm entirely indifferent at this point. I'm not big on awards but understand the cultural and social significance they can have. However a wad's status in the cacowards quite literally has no impact on anything for me. The ones I've already played or plan to play and the ones I don't plan on touching had already been decided. The way I see it is that the cacowards have inched well into "not fit for purpose" territory. They are not about celebrating the Doom community and it's achievements at large but are only for celebrating their personal little slice of the community. They simply feel ownership over something they have no right to claim.

I'll laugh if it irritates the shit of him crediting him in Friday the 13th: Jason's Doom for the weak little knife I got from Realm667's Repository.   Because I put Doom's progress above petty shit.   And omitting DBP59 Zeppelin Armada, probably the most innovative limit-removing mapset in Doom's history thanks to 40oz, is about the pettiest lowest shit they could have done.
