This was originally a cross-forum project...but this will be a Doomer Boards exclusive project now. Gore Prisons is an anagram for progression, which fits the theme of this mapset. I want to create a seventeen map wad that follows the following rules for each map: Specifications Format: ZDoom Custom music: If you want Texture Packs: cc4-tex.wad Obviously, use a lot of gory decoration. The more sadistic, the better. Post screenshots. If you want to do a collaborative map with another mapper, let me know so I can talk to both mappers. I don't want to see any rocket launchers until Map04 (and keep the RL ammo really hard to come by until Map07), no supershotguns until Map07, no Plasma Rifles until Map12, and no BFG until Map15 and it should be in a hard to reach area. Earth maps need to take place on Earth (tech bases or outdoor maps), Hellish Earth maps need to have those same elements with some Hell elements as well, and Hell maps need to be Hellscapes. Glenzinho, I haven't forgotten. I just still haven't gotten home yet.
Furthermore...I am opening up all of the mapslots again, since I have been banned from Doomworld and as far as I know, nobody has even submitted anything, so I'll make this a Doomerboards/idSoftworld project.

Ummmm.... if you’re making ZDoom compatible maps they can be in any format innit? I’m fairly certain that if made for ZDoom you can have “Doom,” in Hexen, and UDMF format maps sitting side by side next to each other.... just about every format of map really come to think of it. Especially the ones not yet invented.

Sorry for wasting your time Trace, but I'll have to drop my slot off, I haven't done squat and I don't have a lot of time to make entirely new maps, especially with such unexpierienced compability as ZDoom and with you not wanting to waste a lot of time waiting for the map.
Next month I'll claim a slot again (if this project will still has some open slots), after I quit my hard and time consuming job that I got this week.

Damn, I was hoping to see more on board for this after how good D2REDUX was on the whole. I'm way overloaded with maps right now but at this rate, when I finish up, this may still be a WIP. If it gets to that stage I'll make something for this. Just gotta finish squeezing out Doomed in Space and my duel set..

Well, D2R had a wider audience and more mappers on board from the jump. Too bad I was shadowbanned. Because the thread on Doomworld for this project actually had a full mapping team. When I stopped posting I passed the reigns to Gangrel...but she didn't get to really do anything with it due to other projects.

It’s redundant to use strictly Doom in Doom format if the project is targeted at ZDoom. If it is “ZDoom” ZDoom you should be able to use Doom in Doom, Doom in Hexen, or UDMF formats, all in the same wad file too. Otherwise just target it to Boom, it’s still got the limit removing thing going on. Maybe you should state better your project intentions regarding the engine/format issue Trace.

I have a hunch Trace is doing it this way for "Z lite" ports to still run with it, stuff like Odamex and ZDaemon namely. They only have very limited Hexen format support and can't run UDMF maps at all, but the most basic of basic ZDoom stuff still works (transparent walls, slopes and deep water). I've had ZDaemon and Odamex freak the hell out over Hexen format maps using too many features, so this is probably the best of both worlds in terms of the mapping flexibility to port compatibility ratio
