hm… i smell some familiar vibes in this topic… like, there is one forum where moderators said that they will ban users for actions done outside the forum. last time i checked it wasn't Doomers Board, but now i'm not really sure. 40oz, are you ABSOLUTELY sure that you're not doing what DW staff is doing? everything here looks very suspiciously closer to "let's find a formal reason to ban someome i don't like". yes, i know how hurtful some talks done behind the back could be. but please, can't you see that you started to dictate other people what they can and cannot say outside of DB? i believe that it wasn't your intention, but it really looks like it. please, unban Joe-Iliya, apologize to everybody, and close this thread for good. sorry, i'm not trying to command you what to do, but this whole thing is quickly spiralling down, and nothing good will come out of it, for anybody. i find most your Doom-related posts on DB very interesting and thoughtful (i may be silent, but i'm reading 'em all). please, don't start the confrontation, even if you're 100% sure that those people deserved it. this is the fight you cannot win. or, if you will win it, DB will become a carbon copy of DW, with it's thought police. again, i at least partially understand your feelings. but please, don't let them ruin what we already have here. please… |

Ketmar makes a good point. The banning of joe ilya over people talking shit in his discord is SUSpiciously like linguica banning 40oz over SArais for example. Or maybe not but there's a similarity for sure.
Also ngl that 40oz post about making joe ilya "improve the place" is quite humiliating imo. If you don't want him to lead DBPs just tell him that: "Joe you can't lead projects for shit so I won't let you lead another DBP". Simple as that.
I don't understand the need to boss the guy around like that. I mean sure it's joe ilya, but I'd feel really humiliated if someone treated me like that. He's not your employee.

Kontra, there is nothing wrong with wanting somebody to be banned. i don't think that it is the best possible topic to talk about, but there's nothing criminal there too. please, point me to the rule they (people talking about their desires to ban other people) violated, why they deserve a ban?

See, your problem and the problems of the rest of the deleted members is that everything is always someone else's fault. You can't take any accountability for your own actions. I had to maintain a serial project with 49 fucking sequels and finish them on a regular release schedule for people to notice this place existed. Do you really believe this forum grew because I'm just luckier than you? The popularity of this place didn't come out of nowhere, dude. I had to build it up. I had to write doom related content, come up with discussion topics daily, respond to people's posts and messages, tell you the truth about what's good and bad about your doom wads, design the doomer boards project, come up with maps and textures every month, promote the brand, help interested mappers learn to map, get their talents exposed to the doom community through the series, and on top of that, allow people to talk about what they want to talk about when other places won't, even when I personally don't like it. If you want to use the products of my labor and use it to move joe ilya and co.'s campaign that it was actually him all along that was responsible for everything that is good about Doomer Boards and I'm responsible for everything that's bad, then follow his lead and see where it takes you. |

Let me counter your question with this (but keep in mind that most of these people deleted their accounts and aren't banned): How can any "community" even survive when half the members want the other half erased (that furry had no shortage of names afterall) and labels anyone that calls their collaboration what it is (where they bounce their resentment off eachother until it reaches a boiling point with the vitriol that we saw here), as "paranoid", and when it's finally proved true they come out swinging like Seqfault has? In what world do the members that want to throw the other half out get to complain, emotionally blackmail, guilt trip an admin for "choosing other members over them" for simply not banning someone and get to sincerely believe this with such unfounded confidence? The way these people operate with such inelegance is actually offensive.. looking at their demands it's almost like they weren't part of the community to begin with, which is sad because I don't think I was the only one who liked the idea of coexistence.
