Negativity = surprisedface.gif and one words posts that aren't even insults. Even being confused is an insult according to you, and anything "contentless" is also negative. The only contentless post is a post that doesn't exist. I can go through your post history and come back with plenty of examples of actual negativity, and if we're going by your standards, I can come back with a whole page. Why would anyone here be positive when the man in charge hates the place anyway? I think people here would be a lot better off if you'd stop stirring a turd with such petty shit.

40oz like I said on the other board, you are never going to please everyone. There's always going to be complaints, accusations of unfairness, etc. Even when the issues are addressed, the goalpost gets moved, because some people thrive on playing to drama of it. It is why on Doomworld someone posts a project like circumsison.wad which get many pages of comments. When in fact if should just be ignored. I find when people create something good or decent, typically there's silence, unless it is endorsed by key individuals. It is sort of like pop-music. It is totally manufactured. For example, not to knock down Ling, because the selfie-stick mod took some talent and effort, and for the most part he was a fair person towards me. But was it really THAT noteworthy that it attracted the most users DW ever had at that point? That it was celebrated in the media and what not? Humans are followers, they may not admit it, but they desire to be led, and handheld, and spoon-fed what is socially approved, and what is not. Rarely do you find people who actually think for themselves. These are the true creators, and thinkers who move art and culture forward, when they create something that is undeniably worthy. However, like many great artists, and musicians, sometimes those people are not recognized in their lifetimes.

I think even Ling himself would admit that the selfie stick mod got way more attention than was really necessary. It got popular because it's a meme (I guess) and memes are popular for some reason, especially among the criminally stupid. Not to say that Ling is stupid, the mod is amusing in an ironic way. Mods with "look at me" titles like Circumcision aren't going to be ignored, the title is a cheap (manufactured) way of getting clicks, that's why I don't like those kinds of "shitwads". Even if the author did not intend it that way, it takes away from other people. Those wads are going to get dozens of comments anyway, so I might as well start off by saying that I think they suck. This way, maybe people will change their mind before releasing whatever stupid thing they've cooked up that they plan on telling everybody is a "jokewad". |

This unfairness towards contributors on DW because they weren't in the "cool kids" lunch table is partly what led me to create alternative platforms. I noticed that no matter what I did, I was not being judged by the merit of my work. But was being judged because I made some threads that went against the orthodoxy, for example I said they should close the boarders to certain African countries because of the Ebola outbreak that had gone on at the time. Funny, because these same people who were aghast to that, are the same people calling for the most restrictive travel measures in place for covid (keep in mind, I'm triple-vaccinated, so I'm not an anti-vaxxer, or what not). What I really hate is hypocrisy, especially from bleeding heart sanctimonious liberals, and I made it known that I hated liberals. Of course, we know that DW is Ultra progressive world.

Sometimes I wish I just kept my mouth shut about everything except for modding doom. I surely would have had a much different experience. But then I remind myself, why should I let that kind of thought tyranny rule over me. Why can't I express myself, even if it is a controversial topic. Why can't I be true to who I am and say what I think is right. I guess being disliked is part of the thing that happens when "keeping it real goes wrong."

Like I said in the circumcision thread, projects should be judged individually. I don't like the fact that telling somebody that something they made sucks automatically gets translated into "I hate you and I'll never like anything you do", and I don't like people who follow around other people ragging them over past failures, at least when it comes to something like the Doom community. I'm an extremely blunt person, if I don't like something I'll say it without worrying about being harsh, because I wouldn't be offended if someone told me one of my projects sucks. I won't insult someone on a personal level unless I think they suck as a person. The art=/=the artist. I can like one and hate the other. Anyway, sorry I don't have the response I gave to your Troll sprites, but I promise it was all positive, and like you said, everything I seen from everyone else was positive as well. |

I should have been more like Sergeant_Mark_IV. I don't think there was a more disliked person on the Doom forums. But from what I saw, he always kept his cool, and never lashed out like I did. He didn't need the forums, because he had his supporters that liked his mod. They liked him for what he had created. Not for some bullshit forum popularity, which in the grand scheme of things is a tiny world, even when it comes to playing doom. That guy has over a million downloads! I don't think the vast majority of DW has that collectively. Mark had a lot of controversies too, and they were talked about a lot more because of Brutal Doom's popularity. I never read into it that much, but either way he's been respectable and respectful every time we've interacted. Since being a Doomworld member, I've never seen him cause any kind of trouble and most people who bring up his past controversies only bring them up to show what a decent guy he is today compared to back then. Although he never seemed like a bad dude to me, just someone who said some pointlessly edgy things a few times. |

We're gonna do our own things, make our own cool shit, and hit that point where we make 32-map megawad total conversions on a monthly basis ourselves. One thing that I find amazing now that I think of it is that both during the DBK exodus and during this soyboy exodus people have promised to make their own DBPs with blackjack, hookers, and big black cocks. But DBK only released one project and they were miles more talented than these clowns. But that's not the point. The point is that 40oz made making a megawad every month look fucking easy. Like holy shit dude. lol I don't think even this guy believes his own bs about a 32 level TC a month tbh.. took me a while... but in hindsight.. in the post you quoted; another post pieces together what this petty trojan horse was trying to do by also pinging other contributing members asking them to reconsider contributing.. he uses DBP to get his name known then when he realizes he can't use his contributions to vote other members off the forums he tries to break DBP on his way out. It's not about his tc a month and never was. |
