I agree with this. I can think of several members, especially former ones, that don't seem to want to be on this forum at all, yet for some reason they are. And they post weekly or daily. I suppose this forum does produce enough juicy drama that one might want to keep up with it, but I see those people outside of drama threads too. It's strange, like wtf are you doing here? I like your elevator analogy lol.

That's the internet in general and I don't think discord or anything has a lot to do with it. It's simply easier to write a short quip-čike response than a long one. If one sees a movie he's more likely to say "Damn that shit was fun" than go on a 5 minute speech about it. I don't think a lot can be done about that and I don't know if it's even an issue.

I believe you misunderstand this and in fact you have a history of doing that. "the forum game" is a thing but it's just the social norms of the place. Every single social congregation has it, and non-adherence to these norms will be punished. If you were drinking beer with your friends (congregation) and one of them suddenly started talking about furries (non-adherence) you would tell him to cut it out and stop being retarded (punishment). This happens everywhere in every single group of people and it's a great thing that it does.
If we apply this to Doomer boards specifically, we can observe that almost every "harassment" you speak of (and that I can think of) was just a way of punishing non-adherence to its social norms, the way of talking people are used to and the quality of it that they expect. It's not hostility or "non-welcoming-ness", just self-preservation, a property of every system.
Examples: of course mayhemicdestructor. You were a centimeter away from banning people for being mean to him (or I felt like that idk) but the guy simply could not mentally handle talking to adults. A community that would purposefully make steps to "include" people like him... well I wouldn't want to be part of that.

But I suppose it's also normal. First of all before discord it was IRC. And before the internet people talked behind other people's backs too.
People will always have gripes with other people especially when those people are in a position of power like you are. There's probably things you think about your boss that you wouldn't say to them. "Oh but I'm nobody's boss here" yes you are you're the forum admin.

That does suck man. I'm not in that Discord so I'll take your word for it. It's often hard to understand people and their motivations to do things. I often don' understand people either, like what's going through their brains when thy make certain decisions.

That's another thing you do, you greatly increase the weight you're carrying for no obvious reason. You refuse to ban or even tempban members even though you're abviously frustrated with their behaviour and other people are as well.
That one time when folks shit up the whole forum larping as mayhemic and you sent them all to losers for a day was the only time I've seen you take a stand like that. As I said back then, I didn't think you'd do shit to them lol. If you did that more often, I think you'd be happier and the forum would be cleaner. Just a little heads up lad, as how long Discord lives till this day, that mucho of time Doom community places in Discord do exist. Some have come sooner\later than others, though.

So, regarding the main discussion: It's not Discord that is a problem here, but people. Some of them get the feel that they can do whatver the fuck they want, either speak whatever shit they feel they want\need\urged by their bloated sense of whatever must to post.
