Why did you get banned from doomworld?

Maybe 3/4 of this thread should be split into a separate discussion...
In an effort to get back on topic:
I had a zdoom forums friend or two tell me how they were afraid to send PMs because they knew Rachael would see them and bully them on the forums. Also your own websites are up for grabs, too. When they ban you, they'll not only scour your posts and private messages, they'll scour your personal blog and websites for ammunition, too.
Incidentally, Zdoom Forums have a very nice and non-toxic community compared to Doomworld.
Sorry, couldn't say that with a straight face.
After reading the reasons for others' bans, I'm surprised I didn't catch on to how broken the DW community was in the first place. And frankly I'm surprised I lasted as long as I did there.

Soooo my ban has been mentioned several times on here in the past (and certain people in this neighborhood have created a lot of spin around why I was banned--politicians gonna politic, even the failed ones), but I never said anything about it, so I may as well get it all out here so I don't feel the need to bring it up later. Also, fair warning, I'm a professional writer with an otherwise useless BA in English, so I tend to get a little wordy about shit.
I got banned from Zdoom AND Doomworld for the same cocktail of reasons, which both forums' elite will vehemently dispute:
1) I follow Mel Brooks's philosophy of "Write about what makes you angry." Several mods I made were cathartic releases for things I was sick of seeing the media lie about: calling riots "protests" in the case of Straydog, people abusing lockdowns and mass panic in Dynamite Duchess. Most of the others were in the same vein. The Cronus Camp for Wayward Boys and the Juno mods all take the piss out of third wave feminism, the former blatant and the latter more subtle. Appetite for Detention criticizes schools who indoctrinate kids with far left cultist nonsense instead of, y'know, teaching them how to read and write like they're supposed to. Day of the Toys is about how wokeness ruins everything. Etc, etc. But Straydog and Dynamite Duchess pissed off the Zdoom and Doomworld communities respectively.
With Straydog, Zdoom's upper crust ganged up on me and accused me of making a mod where you get to kill peaceful protesters, despite there not being a single actual protester in the game who is anything but rescuable. All the enemies are rioters, gang members, and terrorists, none of whom shy away from committing murder and other heinous crimes irl. If it's okay to kill nazis in video games, these groups should be fair game, too. Meanwhile Doomworld got uppity that I didn't consider Covid the black fucking plague and said my views on the subject were harmful and dangerous and basically equated me to a war criminal or something. They hinged their entire argument on a single line of dialogue from the game--a single line spoken by an angry 12-year-old girl mocking her mother for the absurd situation she'd been placed in--as if that one line were the entire crux of the project and the extent of my views on the subject of Covid, lockdowns, and everything related to them. This happened within an hour of releasing the project, too, so you KNOW they didn't actually play it, they just cracked the pk3 open in Slade to look for ammunition.
(I also heard people were annoyed that DD didn't have the tone that the trailer advertised, which is a reasonable complaint. Corrected that with the sequel's trailer.)
Which brings me to...
2) I don't suffer fools or assholes lightly. Call it a character flaw. In both cases the insults started flying, and I fired back, taking time to explain why I thought the more coherent ones were wrong.
The Zdoom ban was actually spicier cos Wildweasel reached out to me on discord specifically to tell me, "I don't know how to feel right now. Ashamed? Confused? Disappointed?", and that his team was discussing what to do with me. After that I soon discovered I'd been locked out of my own thread by Rachael, but not before she posted a long, insane rant that I couldn't respond to as a form of public shaming. Apparently they expected me to accept having my severed head on permanent display as my punishment and cave to the cult. Instead I told WW that if he was actually okay with his moderators using irresponsible bullying tactics, then he and his woke hugbox could eat a dick. I was officially banned after that.
Doomworld was wash, rinse, repeat, just replace Rachael with Major Arlene and WW with...I dunno, Scuba Steve I guess. Minus the discord chastising, since face-to-face reprimands require a little bit of guts. Officially I was banned over Dynamite Duchess for trolling, but I'm pretty sure I only got that label because I made a wisecrack about how people getting offended by it would be showing their true colors, which to them meant I was a troll from the start. I probably shouldn't have, but that time I was expecting only a little flack from the community leftards and otherwise figured most of the members wouldn't take things so seriously and just want to play a new TC like I would myself. I mean, shit, Gremlins is a painfully obvious anti-capitalism movie, but I still consider it a favorite. Guess I didn't realize how similar DW was to ZD, so my lackadaisical attitude toward the leftards kinda bit me in the ass. Or maybe it didn't and they would've tarred and feathered me anyhow. Judging by the other stories I've read on this thread, I'm guessing it wouldn't matter how I responded. Even when you DO cave to this kind of mob, nothing you do to make up for it is ever good enough, so why bother?
Am I temperamental? Guilty as charged. Does my work try to be subtle with its politics? Hell no, but it's never the sole focus. Day of the Toys uses a woke toy apocalypse as the backdrop for an alcoholic deadbeat dad desperately trying to rescue the son he let down. Dynamite Duchess only used "lockdowns bad" as the backdrop for a story about a girl forgiving her mother, and every memory scene develops that aspect of the story further. All the references to the damage caused by the lockdowns is logical within the story: the scenes don't look for ways to shoehorn anti-lockdown politics in, the characters naturally react to everything caused by the lockdowns.
Some of you will agree with me, some of you have decided that I'm a troll and a manchild and nothing will convince you otherwise. My favorite spin-tastic retcon of events is, "Impie chose to make himself a pariah in the commmunity and took his ball and went home before listening to any criticism of his work." Someone forgot that the thread is still up for all to see. Everyone who gave legit suggestions for improvements I took to heart and said so. Anyone who questioned the subject matter in a civil manner got a civil and rational response. I didn't choose to leave, I got outright banned in the middle of posting a reply and permanently labeled an edgelord.
Whatever you think of me, the shit they accused me of was insane, and if allowing players to murder "right wing" public figures and beat up gay men in bars doesn't get you bullied and banned, then fighting rioters and criticizing tyrannical lockdowns shouldn't, either. Yet here we are.
Also, want to give big thanks to all of you on this forum who stood up for me. You guys are the reason I didn't throw in the towel.
Omake: It's worth mentioning that I also went through this with the Creative Horror Network between Doom community bans. CHN is a collective of content creators who make podcasts and radio dramas and critical analyses of creepypasta and related horror stuff. I used to be the co-host of Creepy Cooking Staff, a fun podcast where we'd cook up an outline for a common creepypasta genre on the spot based on social media suggestions. It was a blast every time, and the reason they asked me to be the permanent co-host was because they thought I was a good writer and a funny radio personality. I think we did four episodes. I also co-wrote a fun radio drama with them based on characters I created.
Then they invited me to join a livestream fundraiser event with 20 other members of their clique, all with their own shows and podcasts. I asked what the fundraiser was for. They said it was to bail rioters out of jail in Minneapolis. I politely said no thanks, and told them why. They said yeah, it'd probably be a good idea not to have me there in that case. No arguments, very congenial, "see you next week" sorta stuff.
Next week I find out they replaced me on my own show without notifying me I'd been kicked off.
So before anyone starts posting about how I really am an edgelord who likes to pick fights and can't take criticism and that's why I get banned from places, I'd be happy to dig up that discord conversation for you, too.
Omake 2: In other news, I'm writing choose-your-own-adventure books based in the Dynamite Duchess universe, because Major Arlene pleaded for me not to write books for children.
In an effort to get back on topic:
Friendly reminder, your PM's are probably not at all private to their mods even if you've never PM'ed anything the least bit unfriendly.
Incidentally, Zdoom Forums have a very nice and non-toxic community compared to Doomworld.
