Over a Doom64 review. Was absolutely looking for an argument, some of them just want to wave that mod stick.. probably to make up for something else.

He also does a good job of ignoring his own rationale about why he started the whole thread to begin with:

Oh absolutely, but how many normal community members have done the same? That’s just normal participation.  Definitely not in the business of discounting stuff, sometimes I'm quick to type but slow to explain.  They have definitely done things, not to the same level as Mordeth or Doomkid (who are both great).  But yeah, done stuff they have, I guess I was trying to get across that it is nothing 'exceptional'.

Seems like a gross overreaction on rdwpa's part due to either simping for a youtuber (which is hella gay, but it's lgbt pride month so it's understandable) or ptsd from perpetual neverending war on elitism™®©. Also I'm not exactly sure if the initial sperg out is a result of an actual legit comment he had to go really go out of his way to dig out to be angry at or just some hypothetical imaginary situation he made up just to start a "conversation".

Guess we shall see. I know there was a big fuss last year about possible abuse of that rule, I definitely wouldn’t put it past them.

I've seen Bottom Blast rd display a complete inability to grasp sarcasm. How is someone supposed to moderate discussion they can't even fucking comprehend? Did they get bottom surgery on their frontal lobe?



So anyway, seems like a huge waste of time to wade into a bitchfest about a Doom 64 review, but since apparently Doom 64 has become a sacred cow, I'll tell what's wrong with it. While the map design and atmosphere is pretty great, the major thing that hurts the most, is all the damn key hunting, and ridiculous puzzles to obtain the keys. The worst case was some room with a key where one switch lowered the key's platform but put a cage around it, while the other removed the cage and raised the key back out of reach. I ran back and forth through the map repeatedly, going through its teleporters multiple times, then I return to the room for the fiftieth time and all the sudden the key is available at ground level without the cage. I didn't figure anything out. The problem just solved itself or the solution was triggered somehow. It's easier to find most of the secrets than it is to obtain all the keys. Therefore Doom 64 commits the major Faux Pas of mandatory secrets, even if they're not technically flagged as secrets. Another thing with the new PC version, they could have improved the diagonal wall clipping beyond vanilla Doom's for fuck sake, as if that hasn't been done since over two decades ago. Also the soundtrack and sounds are pretty good, but tend to all blend together a bit too much. The Cyberdemon roar is really underwhelming and quiet compared to something else like a Baron of Hell.

The Doom64 review is fair and valid. Makes a lot of sense to me. I dont know what the first paragraph is about though. The politics of any shooter should never matter. People got shot. There isn't a winning or losing team to be on. (Despite news media and social media acting as though there is)
