I thought this was supposed to be a forum for discussing Doom, but apparently this is just a Doom-themed 4chan knockoff. Pretty childish shit. I wish you all the luck in the world, 40oz, you're a great mapper and you seem like a good person. But this place doesn't really appeal to me. I look forward to playing more of your maps, I don't hold other people's lack of maturity against you. |

everybody, please lay off of themagicmushroomman. he did nothing wrong, its just these pretentious snobs over at doomworld that get disgusted at every little thing and report people to the moderators. i know this because i got banned for 6 days and 10 hours for topic bumping by a certain little fellow whose name rhymes with "bedweckerz".
mushroom is actually a really nice person, cant you see? and if he says anything to these naïve idiots that may hurt their precious little feelings, then he gets a warning! he is just trying to give you guys constructive criticism, he can be brutally honest if the situation is dire, but overall, he is a good person.
it is really messed up to suspend someone because "the quality of their content isnt good enough".
so everyone, please, this is the truth.

From now on, I'll just post things that are strictly related to Doom. I'll cut out my sarcasm and jokes. Listen to yourself here for a second. You are essentially saying that you're going to make a conscious effort to remove anything fun, any personality, and any soul from your posts. Why would you submit to this? I'm not trying to pick on you in any way, I just think you're selling yourself short here. I do understand your rationale with regard to keeping in touch with friends you've made on DW, but in that case I'd take 40oz's advice and seek alternate ways to contact them. Don't conform to a system run by people who look down on you. |

I dislike what xeepeep did, but I think it may have had some other cause. Most likely, he felt the impulse to give some kind of advice that could be useful, to which end he did two things: 1) tried to guess the reasoning behind Doomworld actions, but instead made it look like justification of those 2) told which staff members are best to approach (actually useful part) After a few exchanges between him and the topic starter, the first thing has escalated. The best course of action was to avoid guessing, a trap I also fell too (you see I have edited my previous post), and then either post only the second part, or admit one has nothing useful to say. It is unfortunate that as the result of this @themagicmushroomman has projected back an animosity on our whole board, except fortunately 40oz, who indeed gave the most helpful advice in this topic. |

So you are suggesting that we define person by only some of their posts. I can't agree with that approach, some of the stuff xeepeep posted here was serious, like suggestion which mods to contact. Also, this only reinforces the not-so-well-researched opinion of @themagicmushroomman that this is a "Doom-themed 4chan knockoff" (a direct quote) and "the users of these boards are immature" (a paraphrase). Why? Because we are fine with this, while he, apparently, isn't. So, lost this one and nothing can be done to recover, oh well. On the other side, he was too quick with his judgement. Were he to do more research, he would have seen there are a lot of good members here, and some manage to have good standing both here and on doomworld. |

The way this thread turned out demonstrates nicely why I don't think 40oz's "all doomers welcome" policy will ever work. When everyone is given a voice, it attracts a certain type of people who scare away everyone else. Now, it's not necessarily a problem but it shows why I don't see DB getting rid of the alt-right/4chan/whatever reputation despite 40oz's wishes.

Now, it's not necessarily a problem but it shows why I don't see DB getting rid of the alt-right/4chan/whatever reputation despite 40oz's wishes. In the end, I think the egg is really on the faces of people on other forums trying to act uppity, and sanctimonious, in a community for a game, that the media made synonymous with school shooters in the 1990s. "No, we're the good ones!" In the eyes of people outside of doom, we're all the same I'm sure. Liberals like the Gores would think all Doom fans are right-wing extremists that glorify guns and violence. |

I genuinely don't think I was being toxic, or anyone else for that matter. We all stated what we think without insulting anyone. We never even called Ling or even dew f@ggots which is pretty impressive. If you get offended because someone told you "whatever like I care", then you're far too sensitive for the Internet imo. I wasn't even trying to be a troll or anything.
The dude asked why did he get banned off DW, and I think I have a strong point in believing it's because he has amassed a large post count in a short period of time, and it's probably mostly posts with little substance or just plain the good old postCount++ threads. I've never seen his username nor any of his posts but I'm pretty sure that's the case. Even the warning said "increase the quality of your posting" which is fair I think. Dude got too defensive about his shitposting (and I don't mean my type of shitposting lol), and since it's sometimes the best to leave someone to themselves to figure out that you were right all along, I did just that. That's literally It. I didn't tell him to kill himself or that he was unwelcome. Feel free to argue me but nothing I said warranted a response like that.

Regarding Memfis's post I agree, but I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. Welcoming doesn't mean that EVERYONE will necessarily LIKE it somewhere. You could give me a free strawberry flavour chocolate and I would decline, because even though it's a free 600 some calories, strawberry flavored chocolate is just atrocious. However you still offered me a chocolate. Does that make any sense?
Also it's kind of a fact that the less moderation on an online platform, the more edgy, stupid and 4channy it gets, it's really unavoidable.
