IDK about you all but a few days ago I started seeing testimonials on reddit and other sites from actual infected people, including a dude from my own country (where we've got like 30 infected rn), and my sentiment got a bit more serious. I'm sort of worried right now, like I wash my hands a lot and don't really stay outside too much.
In Czech republic, where I live, they closed down pretty much everything 2 days ago -- universities, schools, bars, etc. Borders are getting closed on Monday. I think it's good that they're taking this thing seriously. Apparently there was only one newly infected person today (13.) while the 3 days before it had 25, 31 and 22 respectively. That's pretty cool.
I know I'm not gonna die, so I'm not scared for my own life, but I am scared for a lot of elderly people out there, like my parents and stuff. It's indeed just a flu, but only if you're young.
IDK what to think, but stay safe dudes. Especially yall boomers
One more thing, I'm getting the impression that everyone is either taking corona way too seriously (like it's the end of the world as we know it) OR not seriously enough (somehow it's exactly the older people who might actually DIE). The world will be fine but please stay inside or in your city at least.

I dont know of you mean bullshit because it doesnt exist and no one is actually getting sick, or that the frenzy surrounding it is bullshit.
There are people currently in my surrounding area who tested positive for it. I havent bought a hundred rolls of toilet paper or stocked up on canned goods though. We will get through it. Just gotta stay clean and sanitary.

The only people that may die from it, are geriatrics, and people with compromised immune systems. Smokers, and people with respiratory conditions are probably at risk too. However, only 14.8% of people 80+ have died from it. These are negligible statistics. It is basically like the flu, except it has been mentioned by the media 1.1 billion times. The rhetoric, and hysteria surrounding it, is completely uncalled for IMO. If Angela Merkel is right, than 70% of Germans will probably get it. One of us may probably get it, but odds are we will be fine. The only thing that is of concern is the possibility of spreading it to someone that could be vulnerable. Yeah, I think it's basically 1% real virus and 99% media virus. The main danger here isn't getting physically sick but letting it damage your mental wellbeing, your business and so on. So the best thing you can do isn't washing your hands or buying toilet paper or whatever, but simply staying fucking calm.

luloi @gaspe you're Italian. I gather the epicentre of the virus in Italy is in a very immigrant heavy area -- do you know if the casualties so far are Italians or 'Italian citizens', ie. Chinese? The reason I'm asking is the virus seems to affect certain social constructs (East Asians in this case) far more severely than others, the Iranian outbreak excepted, but gov't sources are obviously very vague about these things. edit: also I'm annoyed that the Australian Carcass tour was cancelled. My condolences also to thundercunt.

Searched a bit but the numbers give percentages only for the ages, and anyway the majority of the immigrants we have here come from eastern europe. The first places that "spawned" the very first cases and that later were put in quarantine are small cities. Most of the affected are Italians I guess, to answer your question. Even more considering that the average age of the deaths is over 70, yes we have a very old population.

I lost my fucking job because of this corona bullshit. Was working in a hotel owned by our glorious chinese overlords. No bus tours = no work.
Got paid about £105 in redundancy, was given six days notice, was told I was redundant over facebook messaging. So yeah, corona-chan has kinda fucked me.

That sucks, I've never heard of people losing their job over this, now that I think about it, companies that depend on tourism are suffering losses.
Here in my country all kindergartens are shut down for whatever reason, now my parents have to deal with how they're going to handle my sister.

Can't wait till half the customers I serve stomp in, covered in their own fucking blood and mucus from the virus inflicted sniffles, for two circlips on a redundant gray import machine at exactly closing time on a Saturday.
They act like the virus does not exist in my work, we move on regardless, farmers have no time for dying, they're all country boy work hard boomer types who would come in if they lost an arm the bunch of martyrs so no doubt a "little manflu" won't stop them so I can look forward to infection, they'd have me work it off too.
So yeah, not really got much to say other than the opportunity to express hatred of my job.
