I'm really getting fed up with this stupid fucking quarantine.
I wish society would go back to normal already.
When I do go outside for a walk, to change my surroundings, there is no place to go. Other than the super market, that has a 2 hour waiting line.

until there's a suitable vaccine, we're fucked. Old people and with preexisting conditions will never again be able to go out in peace, while us who are healthy and young may have permanent lung damage, die or kill whoever lives with us

Ah, the joys of China exporting communism. State opression, paranoia. We also had those ques for years. I dearly hope when we're out of this mess we're going to punish China. Good thing I am a hermit and I don't care about interacting with people.

They should re-open the economy today, right now, and we power through the virus. Anyone that gets sick, just tell them to "Stop acting like a pussy". ...

How many days until people start proposing things like this seriously though? How long do you guys think you are willing to wait? Do you feel like you'll be still okay with quarantine in a month? Three months? A year? How much of your life are you willing to sacrifice for the sake of others?

But odds are they won't because the countries of the world are beholden to them, especially the USA.
Though I hope I'm wrong, and we stop relying on their cheap labor to make our goods.
Accident or not, it's their fault, I hope President Xi get's wishboned:

My mom thinks she and my brother will be ok. Like people are saying, your risk of death is pretty closely tied to whether youre in bad shape already amd both of them are well. The symptoms suck. Taking deep breaths is restrained by an acute pain in the chest. Your muscles get sore and theres also some severe feelings like youre going to throw up, and your body temperature gets low. Its scary but you just gotta sleep it off I guess.
She says the testing for it is terribly barbaric. You get cotton swabs shoved so far up your nostrils that you cant help but cry and bleed all over. And my moms a pretty bad bitch. I can see why many of our "caring" health insurance companies have changed their policies to waive fees associated with getting tested for it.
Physically, my quarantined life hasn't really changed. I have been trying to be aware of changes in my mental state and i do have a few notes.
I think over the last few years ive become incrementally sensitive to "bad energy." Like if you can imagine going to a music concert, a sports event, or a fun house party where everyone is excited and having a good time and theyre all part of the same group -- that's "good energy." A lot of people are coping with this quarantine pretty poorly, often in the form of getting irate quickly, arguing with strangers, bullying people over the internet, and even increased instances of domesticviolence. Our essential work force looks really worn and beaten down, and it shows on their expressions and the quality of the work they do. This is "bad energy" and theres a fuck ton of it around here. Its such a massive bummer and I dont handle it very well (as you probably observed in my response to the whole tormentors thing)
This could be some sort of paranoia on my end -- I cant really tell for sure but it seems to me like there are people out here being dishonest with themselves and others about the reality of the situation. Not for nefarious reasons, but more like a coping mechanism to keep each other calm when this is a pretty obvious warning sign about how fragile our infrastructure is. Its very concerning. "Think positive" and "Look at the bright side" is a pretty popular way to minimize real tragedies imo.
Theres also some other weird stuff I'm going through. I used to really like difficult and challenging games and disaster movies. I also really like doing creative stuff, but lately ive been feigning interest in any of it. Everything in the world has just been so sad lately that I dont think my heart can take possibly being dissappointed by another thing.

Hope your folks pull through 40 This is "bad energy" and theres a fuck ton of it around here Agreed but I don't think it's that bad. Here where I live, things are starting to go back to normal and everyone has been alright generally. Might not be that way in burgerland tho.

I found out my uncle has the Coronavirus, he's in the hospital right now. But at least they got him off the ventilator. He seems to be making good progress.

Yeah it's super contagious and you can get it out walking your dog without another soul around for 8 miles but the swab has to go all the way up to your brain to do the test. Sound about right?

Christ, that testing sounds flat out medieval. I'm sorry to hear your family is going through that, 40. I hope they don't have to deal with being sick or being tortured much longer..

I am beginning to think I might be some freak of nature. See, when life is going well I really struggle with creativity / getting out of bed in the morning. The number of people that seem to be the opposite - who need order, balance, and not to be dying of a fucking hideous disease in order to get shit done - is weirding me out.
Guess I can update. I've spent the past three weeks self-isolating with a 23 year old musician chick and drinking half a crate of Guinness / Murphy's every night. After two years I finally found the time & inclination to work on this fucking novel. On the downside, I haven't had a solid shit in a fortnight because I shit half a crate of Guinness / Murphy's every morning.
Everyone is alive, nobody has died yet. I'm still getting paid by the university for being a drunken Lothario and the sun has finally come out in Scotland.
Feel bad for you bros, but my life is on fucking point right now. When everyone else in the world is fucking miserable, I am fucking groovy.
Conclusion: I might be powered exclusively by contrarian spite at this point.

Ay let's keep the positive train running. For the first time since quarantine started (41 days atm) I've managed to make myself cook something instead of going to the canteen or ordering food. It's just a lentil soup, which took a while to make however, since I lost some of my NATURAL TOUCH for cooking, but it's delicious as heck. I love lentils. I'm still pretty much just vibin as well. Thank god I am still financially dependent. This is also probably the first and last time anyone has ever said that sentence.

I'm in telecommunications so my shit ain't staying home. I guess that makes me 'essential' in my state, without me people would have to bust out their fucking telegraphs and learn how to ghost tinder dates in morse code. Sounds like Darknation is having the best quarantine of all our stupid asses.

How are you doing over there @memfis ? Thanks for your concern, it means a lot! Personally, I think I've been handling this crisis pretty well so far. I was already working remotely so nothing really changed in that aspect. Obviously, having to stay home all day stinks and it can make your life seem very dull. And there are some people I miss a lot and can't wait to see again. Also I was really excited about moving to another place but now I have no idea when it's going to happen (if at all), which sucks big time. However, I know that there are more than enough interesting things in life to keep your brain busy every day, and I try to live in accordance with that idea. I experiment with different workouts, I learn new origami shapes, I buy skincare products I haven't tried before, I explore unusual music, I open books I've been meaning to read, etc. This allows me to keep things relatively fresh and remember that there is a whole world out there waiting for us. I'm not sure if I have enough strength to maintain this positive attitude in case the quarantine ends up lasting for months, but at the moment I do my best to stay optimistic and view it as a character-building opportunity. I have to say I'm very glad that this is happening now rather than in winter though, as the lockdown coupled with depressingly cold weather and little to no sun would be truly unbearable, haha. By the way, I found your post about becoming increasingly more sensitive to "bad energy" quite interesting, as I seem to be going through the reverse change. I used to get so angry about everything that's unfair in the world, and people saying mean stuff, and even Doom maps that aren't to my taste (lol), but nowadays I just can't get so emotionally invested into things that are either of little consequence to me or are none of my business. Like yeah, many people are having it rough right now, but so what? Perhaps this will sound bad, but as long as they are not my friends or relatives I honestly don't care that much about their suffering, as there are almost 8 billion people on the planet and my emotional capacity has limits. And as for people getting irate, pointlessly arguing on the internet and potentially being dishonest with themselves... Well, how is it my business? I'm not some world moderator on a mission to teach people good manners, I'm not their parent or teacher or psychologist. In fact, if I tried to tell them that their behavior is disrespectful or self-damaging or whatever they would probably feel insulted, like "who the hell is this goof and why is he trying to teach me how to live my life?". They're adults, they don't need this kind of concern from a stranger, so why waste my energy on thinking about their lives instead of actually doing something about my own life? Now, obviously this kind of philosophy is not applicable in your case due to your mom and brother getting the virus (best wishes to them!), but I wonder if generally you do spend too much energy on thinking about people who aren't interested in your opinion in the slightest. I think over the years you've made quite a few posts both here and on Doomworld which basically sounded like you figured out The Only Right Way To Do Things (in particularly regarding forum etiquette) and now you won't back down until everyone accepts your wisdom, so it's not totally surprising to me that you have gained your share of haters. I think it would really help your mental health and also make you more likable if you learned to live in peace with the fact that most people will do things differently from you and they simply don't care what you think. From my point of view they're just not worth your time when there are far more important things to focus on. Or maybe that's the difference between us? I'm still trying to sort my life out so of course that is my focus, but you already have a good job, your own house and a loving wife, and I've heard that that kind of stable and comfortable life can make people look for problems on the outside. So perhaps I will experience something similar myself in a few years... Anyway, sorry if any of this sounds condescending and I know I'm contradicting myself hard by trying to educate you, but I've been meaning to say this for a while and this seemed like a perfect opportunity. Feel free to ignore this if you think I'm full of shit, heh.
