Yeah, fuck it!

I feel there are more benefits to the like button than the assumed non-benefit of people being "lazy" to write up posts. When you see that little notification pop up when you return the Boards it shows you that there's some activity and life going on and encourages posting (i.e spamming) the Boards, which then gives you the result you're looking for 40oz. For others who are more shy it could mean to them that someone out there gives a little fuck about what they're on about and encourages them to contribute and open up just that little bit more.

I don't know if I would prefer keeping the like button or not but either way it sometimes takes up a few too many seconds of my thinking so getting rid of it might help me out there. I also sometimes feel like I might have said something dumb so hopefully I'm getting better with those things and all things like I believe I am. I have to keep reminding myself to not be so attached to such things.

Anyway, remember to smash that like button fam.

I get the feeling that opinions are weighted with the representation of the people who like them. I'd rather everyone just not be aware of how popular or unpopular their posts really are so everyone has a fair shot at believing they are being heard or that theyre opinion has value. Something that is disgusting to me about doomworld is that someone can say something really nasty about another person or something a person did, and it might not be a big deal because its coming from one person, but then a bunch of people like the post and its like a crowd of people saying the same thing at once. That's really fucked up. It's not a big deal here because this place is pretty small at the moment, but people are registering here more often and it could grow into a significant problem down the line.

Not stroking my own dick here, but I do feel like I get a lot of likes for a lot of the posts I write, even when I feel undeserving of them. Sometimes I write posts that don't get a lot of likes and it feels like a loss. @battlekorbi for example, doesn't get a lot of likes for his posts for seemingly no reason (I guess just because they are a lot to read) and recently he felt like an outsider here and almost left for good. The amount of likes he gets on his posts has no bearing on how much I like him, but it feels like he is disliked here when he sees his posts almost always fall short of likes compared to other people. I like him and value his opinions on stuff a lot though, no matter how eccentric and winded they may be!

It's needless competition. It becomes this weird squirelly game that people have to win at. If you're an anxious person; and most of us are, I don't want anybody wasting their energy on shit like that.

A boost is most welcome for me considering that my self-esteem is always close to 0.

The place feels comfy with the "like" system... I dunno.. no one here puffs up their posts to be pretentious lukewarm globally "likable" posts anyway.

I like having the button personally. Sometimes I don't want to type up a bunch o bullshit just to essentially say "I agree" or "I appreciate what you've done here" or whatever. Maybe it's lazy, but oh well.
