Epic reply, DN. I can't think of who could be next on the list - I think Ling has molded the community to his liking now. Maybe Maes but he's learned to stick to Doom exclusively. Phml I'm sure is destined to be made an example of if he even bothers to post after his loser is uplifted. I went after dew, mostly. I just couldn't stand someone who used to belittle a community he'd reluctantly moderate as a home for the mentally disabled, like one of those old Victorian era asylums. If you don't respect the very place you dedicate time to, why do it?
I wish the few mods that care well. Doomkid is great, he's a member here. Quasar, though very progressive, never threw a fit and would, too, poke the bear. I'm saddened, though, that a place I registered at when I was still living at home in high school ejected just shy of thirty. I stated many times that DW was the only community I cared about.

Also, did I just read that Esselfortium underwent gender re-assignment surgery? Or was that a joke? I can't tell anymore.  Yeah, he she did, check her twitter. I was surprised by that, too. Anyway, i'm ChekaAgent from DW and, guess what, i'm banned there too. Also, darknation still has Forum Staple title for me as if he isn't banned, for some reason.. |

I'm the guy from Doomworld who doesn't actually contribute to anything in particular. I also keep my political motivations to myself (usually) since I find such discussions fruitless in their conclusions. I believe I registered this account fairly early in this forum's existence, but otherwise don't visit much unless I'm curious about something. In this case, the recent shenanigans.

Darknation, that was the best farewell post I've ever read. You pointed out everything wrong with Doomworld in a nutshell. It's a shame to see that you got the ban hammer especially since you're a veteran member of 16 years. But I gotta say, you had some balls for calling everyone out in that thread and in that farewell post. Although I don't necessarily agree with your political leanings, I still respect you.

I used to browse the forums back in 2011 when I was 18. This was before I had an account. I discovered the art of modding and I wanted to learn more how to map so I browsed the Doom Editing subforum. It wasn't until 2013 when I registered an account to participate in a big community DM project hosted by Doomkid (whose been one of my closest friends in the community). I met a lot of great people and I spent hours posting on the Classic Doom subforum. I did care about the community a lot. Many of my friends back in high school went their own separate ways and the only people I was left with were fellow Doomers online. So I considered Doom modding and ZDaemon sessions with people to be a part of my life. I don't know when Doomworld started going sour because I've only been posting since 2013, but I could imagine that Doomworld had to have been a much better place in the past than what it is now. |

I hope after a year of absence they'll allow me back in DW, cause i really miss posting there..

That sucks. You don't have any ways to avoid it? Like through a health check or something? I have a friend that just came back from the army recently, and he was able to go on the internet sometimes and even watch some TV series. He played a few games too there. So it seems like nowadays the army is a less shittier place if you have a smartphone and use it wisely. Like, you're not supposed to have it but, you know, a Russian will find a way.  But yeah, if you absolutely can't avoid it... I guess you need to think a little how you can spend that year wisely without degrading mentally. You don't want it to become just an empty useless year of your life. I'm sure you can find a way to at least read books there. It might also teach you some things about human relationships, although not necessarily the nice ones... Just keep looking for positives I guess and good luck. |

It's not about worshipping, its about supporting another community members Lifestyle change that doesn't effect me, or you.. It's fine and dandy if that's not something you believe in, but at the end of the day it's something that doesn't involve you, so I don't see the reason for being a dick head about it.

I guess it really depends on how you define being a dickhead. I can't speak for everyone, but I myself find the whole "trans" movement to be a bit trendy at the moment. I do believe that there are legitimate people out there who struggle with their assigned gender, and I'm not here to bash them as long as they don't bash what I do. But it just seems to me that a lot of people are hopping on the (content removed) train because they see it as a panacea for their own mental or emotional problems, and sadly statistics show us that this usually doesn't work. |

I see I'm not the only one who finds the "I think I'll suddenly be a girl now" fad strange. I don't know why so many people worship dudes who randomly decide to cut their male parts off. It seems to be getting more and more common. Though I know little of the subject and frankly it creeps me the fuck out, I'm sure that isn't how it works. It's not something people do on a whim, at least the legitimate ones, not the bullshit scene-queen teenagers who switch 'genders' every fucking week (this is a thing). Unfortunately if a thread were to be ever created on the subject on DW you can be sure it would shut down instantly so it's not something to be discussed even if people are genuinely curious. For commonality, I don't wish any shit or denial of rights to these people so maybe they feel society as a whole won't burn them at the stake, so they feel they can be seen more often. I'm happy that certain people feel comfortable enough with their friends to share that...another part just can't understand it at all, but that's another topic. |
