Wrapped up a third map sometime last week so may as well upload. dmp24_std3.wadDoom 2 Limit Removing No difficulties No consistency Just half baked ideas and sloppy execution Plinking away at a handful more off and on. No idea how many I'll get done but enjoying just throwing crap down and not really worrying about it. EDIT: Updated dl. Forgot I had to swap some actions in map01 to prevent lineskips.

So yeah, very bad news - in a way. My writing career is starting to pick up steam in a big way (finally bagged myself a contract for multiple novels and foreign rights with a reputable publishing house), I don't have time for that, work, uni and all of my other hobbies. Something has to be put on hold at least until the end of the year and, starting from the bottom up, Doom (plus Strife) has to be the first to go. So yeah, all of my mapping (including DBPs, unless I manage to free up some time here and there) is on hold until further notice. I am at around twelve maps for the DMP, I know it's possible to include less than the minimum fifteen maps but I can't help feeling like I'm not "playing fair" submitting less than fifteen, if that makes any sense. Chalk it up to my autism and OCD, I guess. So yeah, sorry TimeOfDeath but consider my submission so far on hold as well. I'll try very hard to get to fifteen maps by the end of the year, but it's not looking likely. Best of luck to all other participants, looking forward to what you'll be cooking.

Well, guess what, surprisingly and though I should be doing other stuff (but mostly because my Strife mapset is going nowhere fast), I am slowly ammassing vanilla-compatible maps. I have fifteen of them now. I am having this crazy idea of just submitting to the project whatever I have done by the deadline as a sort of 'sampler', and then later on (early next year) wrap up the full megawad. Might even make an OST for it. Who knows.

MAP01-MAP14 + MAP31/32. The sort of meat and potatoes Doom you won't catch me dead making in a DBP or other projects. A couple maps are a bit gimmicky. Overall the target is that sort of "decent 90s" Doom in the vein of Dictter / Young / Bye / Krause. More may follow, depending on time and whether I feel like taking part in the mapping arms race still makes any sense at all, in today's oversaturated scene. Meh. Any observations and input welcome, please keep in mind these are meant to be compatible with the original DOS executable, all testing has taken place with Choco, DSDA, and DosBox up to map06. IWAD is Plutonia. Additional notes: one custom sky, custom palette, and a couple tracks from what will eventually become a fully custom OST, if I feel like it Attachments:boa1kd.zip (527.47 KB)

Every single map, every single encounter, every single secret is tricky and requires thinking three steps ahead. It felt exhausting having to think on overdrive all the time in this FDA format, but I pushed through and made it to the end. You have a good knack for tricky fights, just give the player some room to breathe from time to time, it wouldn't have hurt to have a couple of breather maps or encounters, to break things up. I didn't get the "decent 90's" feeling when playing, I was getting more Nicolas Monti and the good half of Hell Revealed II feelings.
