I wonder if it is possible to have more monster aka enemy types in Doom 1, Doom 2, and Plutonia beyond the bare game in a WAD that can be played without relying on either GZDoom, Zandronum, nor WOOF...

You would still have half the monsters and I think thats Impossible in dehacked. Then assign the unused Doom 2 monster states to redundant thing slots such as the blocking hanging corpses, Bloody Mess 2, and Dead Lost Soul.

I mean you could do that but would you have enough states and doom 2 has more things any way so why would you do that.

Ultimate Doom has the exact amount of states as Doom 2. It is possible.

joe-ilya I'm having trouble following your line of thinking. it sounds like youre proposing that people recreate the desired monsters and weapons from Doom 2 in Doom 1 with DeHackEd. I'm fairly confident that more people have Doom 2 than registered Doom 1, and it seems kinda wasteful to repurpose content as Doom 2 stuff when Doom 2 is already available and functional without any user manipulation. I did say that Doom 1 is kinda cool for having the episode selection thing, but if i really needed the episode titles, id probably use mapslots to build a map that communicates the change in episode, kinda like the skill level and episode picker map at the start of quake 1.

I'm just saying having Doom 2 stuff in Ultimate Doom is possible if you really want that episode select screen.
It's also possible to put the episode format into Doom 2, by repurposing the difficulty settings into an episode select screen, and having a teleporter at the start to lead the player to three different levels in a single map depending on skill level, by having only one of the three teleporter destinations to appear in a different level per difficulty setting. If you use this method with Ultimate Doom, you can have episodes within episodes! 4 episodes, with 3 episodes within each; that's 12(!) episodes, with a total of 108 levels inside a single wad.

At that point you might as well succumb to umapinfo(or any other mapinfo).

Being just vanilla compatible is a memorial to schizophrenia. It'd be better to have a mod and a source port for it that runs on the same hardware which vanilla was targeting for. Better if it performs faster than vanilla. If it can't run vanilla demos, well. Fuck vanilla demos

I don't really like Doom running on the Kex Engine, the movement of it feels...off probably just me since I played on ZZDoom and various other sourceports. But something about it doesn't feel right to me. If there's one port I still like it would be the Nerve teams port. Now that one felt like a really good doom port and I still don't understand why the fuck did they forget about it; it was already good all they needed to do was configure it to load up custom doom maps plus it didn't censored itself like the new one did.

I believe the reason kex doom feels of is because of mouse lag I would say this is the number one biggest flaw and offense. Playing it really feels off and not like Doom. I suppose the team thinks precise accurate mouse control is simply not a priority or worse yet, good players need to be taken down to the level of disabled (They're handicapable not handicapped!) for equity and equality for all! After all, having handicapped accessible options on by default was such a big priority. At least it starts out prompting you whether to leave them on or not, for now. Reminds me of a short story, Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnegut in his book Welcome to the Monkey House. There was also an Outer Limits episode that seems to be based on it. Pretty sure the Blinken/Obama/Harris administration is going to appoint a Handicapper General soon. The weird thing is that Strife: Veteran's Edition does feel like playing the Doom engine, even with some of Strife's weapons being less responsive by their origin programming. So they majorly screwed something up since then, just like they did in Eternity engine, compared to Boom that's based on. I think the underlying root cause is that many engineers whether regular or software type, are in fact retarded and deficient in many ways.

The Kex feeling off shit isn’t even Doom-specific. Anything using that shit feels off. Try to bring it up and you’re dismissed by the devs or your hardware is finger pointed for blame.

I had trouble getting Eternity Engine not to feel like crap after building it recently on a new setup. Reminded me of the trouble I had getting PrBoom+ not to feel bad years ago (never succeeded). Chocolate Doom, GZDoom, and Woof seem to get it right, more or less. Simple sensitivity slider adjustment suffices.
