@contracommando No deal, bossman! I've already told ya what i'm going to do, and getting to it, it's what i've been doing to get it done! But don't you worry, it's looking good so far; i'm keeping the original progression and visual style of your maps as close as possible but i'm also adding a little bit of zing to it, you know? A little bit of my DNA.. a little bit of my sperm, so to speak. So just a heads up: they will look somewhat different in the end.. with a nice tan, a high fashion look, thick legs and a juicy butt.
I've already managed to take those pesky red spots out of my yellow, blue and green canvas - and goddam boss, i had to kill a lot of sectors and use a lot of bleach to clean the stains. But now they look sharp, with a nice shading around them.
You see. That elusive femme fatale, Mrs. Inspiration, escaped my noir dreams.. cheated his husband and granted me more than one night of sweet love mapping. Now, the ideas for the remaining maps keep me wake at night. But just so you know, not everything is being joy and pleasure in this venture - i'm staying true to the original intent behind this, so i'm using stock textures only; and that alone makes my testicules tingle in a not so funny way.. but i'm strong, i'll survive and i'll conclude this penance of mine.. ol' style. In pure vanilla glory! Yes, Amen to that.
I'm currently working on a custom STBAR and i hope you don't mind me borrowing that dope seagull face you've provided here. You're not the only fan of the old geezer.
But anyways, i'm not a prodigee like mayhemic - my mapping skills are disfunctional and i'm a very slow boy. So i'm aiming for a Q4 release, for this. For your gift. So be patient and don't forget to look further down on your christmas tree, boss - you may find something interesting to entertain yourself while avoiding any unsavory family member. Practice your moves, Shang - precision will be required and be prepared for being taken to the bank... to the blood bank.

Btw, I will be making I will be making in-game Steven Seagal player sprites as well. You can use those too if you want.

To implement his body would complicate things a little bit on my end.. will make my deh file many, many more lines long that's for sure - but it's doable. Let's see how it goes.
Also, you're too kind boss. You must be careful with the amount of kindness you give to your subordinates. Things got really crazy a couple of weeks ago, you know? And of all the perpetrators, i'm the only one volunteering for this. And mayhemic? The guy was the victim of all of that and now look at him; taking responsabilites like a champ.
But the others.. oh yes, the others. Jumping from one place to another, yes i see them doing their things. And do they care for helping you out with your project? No. They come here, shit all over the place and leave. That's not fair, boss. Not fair at all, if you ask me.

TBH But like I said in another thread, the merit of one's work is more important than what they post. I was pissed off that after achieving so much and getting into magazines etc. No one at the top echelons of Doomworld cared to even acknowledge me. Thats why i hate liberals, no matter what you do, if you think the wrong thing you are bad no matter what. That's another reason why I started this place. I also never want to be the boss. That's part of the reason why I stepped down as administrator. I just wanted to be a member of a community that I liked.

Hmmm, looks like this project is going to shit the bed. If we don't get any more mappers on board before next week, I'll just cancel it, and free up #48 for another project. If this is DBP48 you'll probably get more maps when DBP47's development time is over. EDIT: Ignoring most manner of "tradition" of course. Not sure what the mapping format for this is though because if it's not limit-removing then this could be the next DBP side-quest because I still think all the main DBPs should be limit-removing. EDIT again: Oh it's for The Ultimate Doom and only episode 3 at that? Then you can only have so many maps sticking to a 9 map episode if this is a mainline DBP thing.

I support 40oz and dn, as well as all of legacy mods. As well as all of the newer members who have contributed to putting DBs on the map, with maps. Also, I like the maps manic made. That's all I know of him. Honestly, I don't read the forums. He seems like he is trolling (we all like to have a little fun around here, including me. This is not a super serious place.) but as long as he makes good maps, and doesn't post illegal or threatening posts, I don't think he has anything to worry about. I think his contributions to DBP 48 has convinced me he is okay in my book.

There will be two ways to summon Jason to the map. One way is to find a mask which will give you to power to summon him as a hostile enemy, which will keep reanimating after death. The other will be a mask that will allow you to summon him as a friendly ally. Also one that is random between the two. They will be rare spawning items. Though it could be useful to use him to clear out a map strategically, even if hostile. Because you could probably trap him somehow in a pit, perhaps.

I was thinking, that after this project is over, we can return in the future, with different DBPs down the line, and make it a complete remake of Ultimate Doom. The E3 is appropriately Hell-themed. I think the next one should be Knee Deep in the Dead remake with a tech-theme.

Personally, I think it'd be best to develop the theme more and launch it later, if possible. Usually the resources are already ready at the start of the project with only minor updates later on. We had a bit of an issue with adding a new COLORMAP in towards the end of the project with how much the new COLORMAP changed things in DBP47 and I can see this project having similar issues. Not sure making it a Doom 1 episode is a good idea either - if you get 10 maps, you're going to have to reject one or throw it into its own episode, which is sort of awkward. If someone reserves a spot and doesn't deliver, it leaves a hole in the project that might not get filled in time. I think Doom 2 works better for varying project sizes. Plus, Doom 2 will give you more to work with in terms of DeHackEd stuff, if you're going down the route with a lot of custom stuff (which you seem like you might). Though pk3 seems to imply this is a Z-port specific project, which might be a bit of an issue as I think most of us are more familiar with limit removing stuff.

Here boss, have a small appetizer until the main dish comes. I've put some vanilla on your plate, see if it tastes good. Attachment DeletedI've prepared a spoiler-inception for the avid readers, that's it.. if your are into this kind of tomfoolery. First things first, this map ended up having a slaughter-ish feel to it (albeit the more family-friendly kind) - the openness of your design begged for it, so i did it. So this is just a heads up, in case this kind of playstyle makes you butthurt. There's no shame on it tho, everyone got it's problems. And i've prepared something to help just in case Like i said before, i'm opting for keeping the theme and the progression as close as the original source. This one gave me a lot of trouble on the drawseg department, so things needed to be rearranged. The vastsness of the map had to be shortened and i decided to transform the previous inescapable pit of lava that it was into a place that the player might want to go. The marble temple structures remained almost the same but i had to do something here and there and took the opportunity to put some more detail into each one of them so they could look more distinct from one another. One thing that i though it would be really neat was to give every single place of the map a reason to go. So i've put those health refilling towers at the lava pit; the main temple's courtyards became the rocket refilling area; one of those little hilltops became a additional secret area and that vertical spot that surrounds the back of the main temple became a main path (and now houses a blue armor for the taking). The same concept was applied to the starting area, i've done a little something with that unused large sector at the end. I've added 4 "new enemies" via dehackery: - A chaingunner Marine
- A plasmagunner(?!) Marine
- A mancubi-like-rocketter Marine
- A invisible BoH to serve as the Hell Knight
This was very fruitful 'cause i've discovered something i didn't know.. Ultimate Doom (v1.9) have Doom II's stuff. Which means that i could use the action states of the chaingunner, the arachnotron and the mancubus to make these new enemies. And implement their properties into things that you didn't placed in your maps (the visor, dead imp, dead caco and dead lost soul). I also had to replace a mancubus' sound in the strings as it required a sound file that is only present at the doom2.wad. I've included these new enemies on UV and let HMP without them, so if you want to test the map without these creatures there's this very convenient way to do so. Since i opted for not adding any custom sprites from the get go i had to make the most with the stuff i have available. So these marines uses the same sprite as the player (green marine) but with the the DM flags aplied to them. So each on has it's own distinguishable color. The titlepic i'm using is very simpe but it's a really cool looking pixelart and more than efficient to match the theme. The stbar.. i'm kinda iffy. There's currently 3 variations: a pure marblegreen one (which i find to be too safe and boring, so this one is serving as a template only), a marble + rock combo (which looks kinda neat but lacks something.. a je ne sais quoi) and the marbe + flesh combo (which is the one that's currently on the pwad, i might give it some tweaks in the future but for now it's the one i'm settled with). The tunes will be more to the "eletronic beat" side, boss.. sorry but i find the guitar sound on midis to be quite annoying most of the time. But there will be some personal remixes of a couple metal classics.

Episode 1: 7 levels Episode 2: 5 levels Episode 3: 4 levels so most likely it's gonna be possible to well distribute the resulting maps kinda well. The another thing is that Doom has poor bestiary comparing to Doom 2, to which we are used to. I can with the magic of dehacked, quickly restore it all without sacrificing anything. If we want an SSG, we'll part with the chainsaw. It's a minor loss. Everything within limit removing. I'm thinking of putting together a resource pack for an Heretic project someday(if I have mood and time for that), if it'd be legit for a DBP.

I believe Kontra's more familiar with the ZDoom side of things so if this is limit-removing, he might need some help getting this stuff to work with that. I don't really know enough about DeHackEd, so not sure how much I can help with that.

I'm not sure, but previous posts gave me the impression that with normal Doom 1 thing placement, the pk3 mod replaces many things with spawners that then spawn any number of different things randomly, maybe even more than one thing per a spawner. So far checking out the Occult Doom mod with one of Mayhemic's maps I really got a kick out of the levitating floating possessed guys who seem to have grown horns and occasionally spew something like radioactive pea soup. I hope they remain in the final version of this project. So anyway it seems that the maps may be playable without the pk3 mod, but you'll be missing much of the heart and soul of the project. Also my map which I should post a version up here reasonably soon, while still limit-removing vanilla format does use linedef type 281 Legacy/ZDoom compatible 3D sector transfers, but in every case so far, they are not actually necessary. So as long as various limit-removing ports don't bomb out with an error, I'd hope to keep them. I just need to make some region of the map look better, change some decorate and Doom 2 things to standard Doom 1 things, and supply some additional textures it uses. Of course dehacked and decorate mods can be rather compatible and made to work together or separately.

yes i think the dehacked monsters are a very cool idea. but im also not sure cuz in my map there is a chainsaw and youre supposed to play the level wit hthe chasinsaw ghbut if thc hainsaw is the supershotgun maybe it would make the level bad.
