hi , i was wondering which wads everyone is always playing all the time. okay so there are some wads that every one always starts to play again and again , because they just like them and the wads i always start up are hellbound , alien vendetta, akeldama and the auger zenith wad. and also doom the way id did and the doom damnation wad , and i also like to play the plutonia wad and evilution , and also a lot of doom1 but i have never finished a few of them , i have not finished hellbound and akeldama and also not alien vendetta , so i wonder how every one is always beating the wads they play because i just feel a very strong urge to restart maps so i can play them from the beginning. and which wads do you always start playing all the time ?

I really do love Eviternity. Usually when testing a source port or configuration I'll boot it up to make sure things work right and half an hour later I'm several maps deep into it having completely forgotten whatever it was I wanted to do.

The only wad I have ever replayed is Scythe. Most maps are small and quite easy, so it's easy to pick it up. Oh, and RAMP, but thats not really replaying it, but more just continue playing it with the 200 maps it has in total

Tbh, the only wads that I've played a lot are Sunlust and Scythe. Oh, and RAMP, but thats not really replaying it, but more just continue playing it with the 200 maps it has in total Ahh, a man of culture, I see. Jokes aside, I'm actually really glad I decided to participate to that project. It was an amazing experience.

I play my own maps all the time, but only because I'm playtesting.

worriedidiot, you created the golden disorder map for RAMP, right? I fucking love that map, probably still one of my favorite introduction to a map, rising up to an arena, looking at the cyberdemon with the black hole (black sun?) in the skybox behind him. Great use of dynamic lighting at that moment too. The golden visuals are great and the music fits really well (albeit a bit short, which made it loop too often). And when you walk towards the black hole and then enter it for the final fight, great stuff. I actually wanted to try to UV-max the map, but I got distracted by Elementalism (and also got a bit frustrated cuz the map is difficult af and I'm not that great of a player)

skyr Oh my god that is so kind. Thank you so much! I knew the map came out kind of good but I didn't expect such kind words. That map was actually the second UDMF map I ever made (not including my first couple of mapping attempts back in late 2018) and also the third time ever properly working with custom textures. It was actually very rushed. I made it in a couple of days just because the RAMP deadline was creeping up and I was getting paranoid that I wasn't going to make it in time. I also made 4 more maps for RAMP (Forge, Mortem, Heart of the Jungle and Golden Anarchy) but they weren't really as good. But, yeah, thanks for that! You made my day.

i tried to make community projects but no one wanted to submit maps. i have a community project for remaking all of doom 2 in udmf format for gzdoom and for brutal doom. that maens u play test the wad in brutal doom and its supposed to be played in brutal doom and u make remixes of doom 2 stock levels except you make them with all the udmf features and stuff , and u can make them as beautiful and the gameplay like you would want to , if you would create a map like this

Once mappers make a map for DBP, they're kinda locked into answering to playtesting feedback for the rest of the month, and then when the project is released, a new one starts immediately after. I don't know if many people who use this forum are readily available to be making maps for other projects if they're available to make maps at all. I think this community would need to double in size before other community projects on this forum start succeeding. Or doomer boards project would probably need to shut down indefinitely, but I'm not planning for that any time soon.

Going Down was the first PWAD I played and the only megawad I've ever finished. It baked claustrophobic combat into my mapping DNA.
Like others, I often replay my own maps. I don't normally replay PWADs though.
Zzul Bases is the only PWAD I've played through multiple times and that's partly because it's so short and partly because it has a very distinctive design philosophy present that left a tremendous impact on me. It seemed to me to be a very personal project and if its audience was anybody, it was made for mappers rather than the average player. I took that same approach for my own project.
There are some PWADs that I haven't replayed in their entirety but I've come back to replay specific maps. DBP29, Sunder, and Event Horizon are some of these. Also, I'll replay The Sky May Be every six months.

Speed of Doom is definitely my favorite, have played all the way through it three or four times. I also play Lunatic, Heartland and Antaresian Legacy pretty frequently.

Going Down is a work of special significance. I personally wouldn't play it again (but I may change my mind in the future) but I am most glad I did play it. There are many things about this megawad that I find awesome; It is consistent as only mouldy mapped for it. This consistency is something I prize as I get the real sense of a journey deeper into the corrupt root of this UAC building. It is the unifying principle of the entire wad and the maps are built within those bounds. I love how cramped yet very well done that they are still allowing for movement engendering a form of combat I'd call frantic repositioning. The beginning maps appear amateurish yet as you descend (and ascend too) each map gets better and better. It's as though the mapper, mouldy, improved in skill as he made the wad and you sense that as you progress. This wad makes for a memorable play experience. I'd love to make a full on 32 map megawad all by myself like this one but I daresay I don't have the time.

Scythe 1, 2 and X. TVR! Zone 300 and 400
Because the maps are so small and can generally be completed no matter how much time I have.
