there's no plausible reason for a civilian to own a fucking assault rifle, easy access to automatic weapons is certainly a factor that encourages this kind of action. Of course it's just a minor part of the problem, but still, the amerikkkunts are at fault on this aspect
Also, there is no easy access to automatic weapons in America. Your ignorance is on display. Semi-automatic firearms can be purchased with a background check, but automatic weapons are quite hard to obtain. Here's a breakdown of what has to happen before you can get a truly automatic weapon. You'd have to...
1. Find someone selling the firearm you want. 2. Find a Class III FFL that can do the transfer for you. 3. Fill out ATF Form 4. 4. Get your fingerprints taken. 5. Submit the fingerprints and Form 4 to the ATF with a $200 check for the transfer tax. 6. Pay for the firearm.(automatic rifles cost around $20,000 to $30,000, which is cost prohibitive for most people) 7. Wait 6–12 months. 8. Pick up the firearm from the Class 3 FFL.
Sorry thundercunt, but despite your cerebral and mature user name, you are coming off almost as stupid as Glen here.
I said "easy access", but what I actually mean was "access", sorry. Civilians shouldn't have automatic firearms at all. Even if a raging mob invades your store to pillage and rape, you can repel them with pistols, shotguns and hunting rifles, don't tell me you need an assault rifle for that. To me, it's pretty obvious: it's an ASSAULT rifle, you don't use it unless you are on offensive. That "fight tyranny" argument is clearly bullshit and was the same that Varg used to explain the shitload of explosives found on his house by the police, and surprise, fighting oppression was the last of his intentions

You, like most people who are know nothing about firearms, use the term "assault rifle" incorrectly. It shows how much the media has influenced you, and how little you've actually learned on your own. www.dailywire.com/news/20668/why-progressives-use-made-term-assault-weapon-frank-campHere's a snippet from the article, try actually reading it: “Assault rifle” as opposed to “assault weapon” is an actual term. David Kopel defines the term in the Journal of Contemporary Law:
"As the United States Defense Department’s Defense Intelligence Agency book Small Arms Identification and Operation Guide explains, “assault rifles” are “short, compact, selective-fire weapons that fire a cartridge intermediate in power between submachine gun and rifle cartridges.” In other words, assault rifles are battlefield rifles which can fire automatically. …"
Many civilians have purchased semiautomatic-only rifles that look like military assault rifles. These civilian rifles are, unlike actual assault rifles, incapable of automatic fire. Because a civilian-use AR-15 is semi-automatic rather than fully-automatic, it's not an assault rifle. A semi-automatic weapon fires one bullet per trigger pull, whereas a military assault rifle can fire continuously with one pull of the trigger. Fully-automatic firearms have been heavily regulated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) since 1934, and the sale of automatic firearms has been effectively banned since 1986. If an AR-15 isn't a military-grade assault rifle, why do politicians and people in the media continue to refer to them as “assault weapons"? Simply put, it sounds scarier, and fear is an outstanding motivator, especially when one is ill-informed on the topic at hand.As I said before, you don't know shit about the subject you're ranting on and really need to do some research. Get a fucking clue and come back to me.

nice ad hominem, but you are yet to present a single argument that explains the need of a civilian to own a assault weapon

nice ad hominem, but you are yet to present a single argument that explains the need of a civilian to own a assault weapon Since it doesn't seem like you are reading any of my responses, I'm not going to bother spelling it out further. I've already laid out a very valid argument, with historical precedent, for why the 2nd amendment to the U.S. constitution should remain in place to protect the right of normal people to own guns. And second, I laid out why you are continuing to make yourself look like a fool by referring to "assault weapons", as if you know anything about firearms. Please enlighten the forum on what an "assault weapon" is, thundercunt. What exactly are the weapons that civilians should and should not be allowed to own, according to you? And after that, tell us who the fuck made you an expert on anything and why anyone should listen to you at all. What qualifies you to decide who should and shouldn't own what? Do you have prior military experience? Have you seen live action? I really want to know why you think you have any ground to stand on in this argument.

2 - people do not need assault weapons to fight tyranny, unless they are living in some shithole country dictatorship
and now I need to have combat experience to opine about gun control? give me a fucking break

Oh sweet a gun argument!
My take: America has a strong ingrained obsession with retardedly excessive firepower and weapons and shit, they're fucking crazy. It's a cultural thing as well as a matter of identity, there's literally nothing else to it. No amount of facts, statistics, personal horror stories or whatever else will convince someone who has made being a gun-nut part of their identity that these weapons being around results in more deaths even though it is indisputable. They're only getting more obsessed too:
Although, I don't want to overstate the dangers of guns or something. Despite killing off a lot more retards in America than most other developed countries, it's still statistically VERY unlikely that you are going to be killed by a gun, so whatever. If you own a gun you're way more likely to use it on yourself than some random innocent person:
It doesn't even chart on the top killers of Americans.
On top of all that, pistols are the real killer, not assault rifles or machine guns or whatever. Again this is statistics and I know a lot of the school shootings are done with assault rifles but still:
Like I said though, none of this will convince someone who has made gun ownership a part of their identity, and that's fine, whatever, they're free to do that shit and I'm free to flee from it. They said like it or leave, so I went somewhere with better healthcare, better infrastructure, better wages, better worker's rights and an overall higher standard of living. I sleep a little bit easier knowing the minority of the dumbasses who live on my street even own any kind of firearm, in contrast to living back in the bastion of sanity known as Florida. America has always been the land of the free and I genuinely don't think that should change, despite what assumptions you might make from the various facts I posted above. You guys have the rights, the freedoms, the culture and the president that you deserve and who the fuck am I to ask for that to change. I hated that shit though (because it's fucking insane) so I left. I feel bad for the people who want to but can't, either because of a lack of funds or because nowhere else worth a shit will take them.
Oh as a side note and just to prove that guns really ain't the HUGE SCARE OMG ;-; that everyone including myself makes them out to be, take a fucking look at this despicable shit:
As a side note, if you ever needed any more reason to distrust the media, there you fucking go - and they say state run media is bad! Believe it or not, Australia's state funded ABC network is actually less slanted than America's high-and-mighty free market bullshit news sources, even if only minorly. I mean, they're still lying to us all, manipulating us and only seeing us as a resource to be exploited, but still. You can literally NEVER trust those who control the narrative, no matter where and no matter what the scale.
WHOOPS I guess I accidentally just proved that "RADICAL ISLAMIC TERRORISM OMGGGGGGGGG" is also not the big, scary end of days that the media and many idiots would have you think it is ;-; Oh, boooo hooOOOO! All the people who bought into that horse shit never stopped for a minute to think "hmm, maybe this islam scare is a bunch of bullshit perpetrated by the government via the large media networks as a way of brainwashing the public into a state of fear so that they nod their empty fucking heads when we invade the middle east and exploit their resources." Idiots! The whole planet is filled with idiots, you and I are idiots. They know that and they take advantage of that. Imagine my shock! (Islam is still stupid poop though like basically all organized religion. A lot of good people mixed in there but damn, the majority of humans believe in some real, real dumb shit.)
lol no wonder all the left-wing SJW cucks and right-wing gun-nut dumbfucks don't like me, the reason happens to be that they're too obsessed with being on a side to acknowledge reality! Who'd-a fucking thunk it. Oh and RE: the fighting tyranny argument, good luck using your rifles to fight the government's endless supply of military drones that they only have because all the dupes on the left and right think "BIG MILITARY GOOD" so they fork over even more tax dollars to be gobbled up by the military industrial complex, meanwhile lol oops we don't have enough funds to get millions of people drinkable water but no one cares haha gg America, 2 ez.

1 - people do not need assault weapons to defend themselves, unless they are fighting an army
2 - people do not need assault weapons to fight tyranny, unless they are living in some shithole country dictatorship That's easy to say until the shit hits the fan. Do you really believe, based on what we know about human history, that in a first world nation things could not degenerate to a point where conditions become bad enough that citizens would be fighting an army? Read a history book. Shithole countries start off well with good intentions in many cases. Yeah, you can opine all you want in your ignorance, but you have yet to make a case for why anyone should listen. You've been shown to have a blatant lack of knowledge on anything firearms-related, yet you think you know what people "need" and "don't need". I'm curious as to what Doomkid would say about this piece: www.thenewamerican.com/world-news/europe/item/28652-londons-rising-murder-rate-raises-questions-about-gun-controlAn excerpt from the article: "Since the 1997 handgun ban in England and Wales, there has been only one year in which the homicide rate has been lower than it was in the year before the ban."Which brings us over to my first point: People are the problem, not guns. If people want to be violent, they'll find a way to kill others, no matter if it's with a gun, a knife, a bat, a car, or their bare hands. What makes a gun death worse than a knife death? Nothing, because either way the person's dead.

are you really comparing assault weapons to knives? so if dylan and eric used swords instead of guns they would have done the same damage?

Never underestimate a man with an assault spoon and butter knife. Those are weapons of true terror.
Mass stabbing attacks are a thing btw and it's much easier to attack someone with a (concealed) swift silent blade before anyone even knows what's happening (I am not speaking from personal experience, just some Internet exploration experience). Imagine how easy it would be with how many old, obese, and out of shape citizens there are! Next thing you know someone's dealing out a massacre with a sword in each hand (yes I know this is not likely at all) yelling out names for each attack and running like a berserker ninja, possibly as a coping mechanism to create an atmosphere to distract from the reality of the situation and delay a possible mental breakdown! Oh, the humanity!
Yes, yes, more guns in a country would mean more deaths by guns in a country just like how the more crappy parents there are the more crappy kids there'll be (just an example don't take it too seriously but what you should take seriously is the negative influence of how misery loves company) and so on. Someone's always gonna want someone dead! At least with knives and swords I'd feel much more confident with wearing chain mail armor wherever I go. Guns are not the problem... the problem is SOCIETY!

Hey man, come on, I already admitted guns aren’t the big boogeyman everyone makes them out to be, what more do you guys want from me?!
I’d rather have a knife pointed at me than a gun, fwiw, but really what that comes down to is that I’d simply not want to be in the same room as a murderous fuck regardless of their weapon.
Guns allow someone to make a fucked up decision in the blink of an eye, that’s my real concern with them. Sure, someone who REALLY wants to kill themselves could use a knife or something, but a gun makes it easier. Someone who wanted to kill 30 people might be able to take down a few with a knife, but a gun makes it easier.
A lot of people want to do something drastic in the heat of the moment and access to a gun doesn’t allow people that natural window of time to cool down and rethink things. But hey, when you guys say the problem is with people, you’ll get no argument from me.
As to the specific point Bob brought up, the murder rate has gone up in England because of a multitude of reasons. Social unrest is big there. You have huge culture clashes between left, right and immigrant (to whittle it down to a few easily identifiable groups). A lot of people turn to crime. It’s all kinds of fucked up.
I think the point is well made, a murderer is probably going to be that way with or without a gun and the fact is, the chances of getting killed in a homicide are puny. The only thing less scary is terrorism, ironically. McDonald’s has way more blood on it’s hands than the gun manufacturers, lets just be honest. Now excuse me while my fat ass gets a Big Mac.
P.S. - The gun-obsessed culture of America is still super creepy and weird and cult-like!!

What it comes down to is this; I'm not living in a country where the government is armed and the citizens are not. You think the average Chinese person is truly happy with a camera shoved right up their asshole, told they can't get on a plane or ride a bus because they lit a cigarette in a non-smoking area? No fucking way. They only put up with it from years of servitude and conditioning that their government is all-powerful and all-knowing. And it became that way because the population is totally helpless. Yeah, having a big evil assault rifle pictured on the evening news sure looks scary, but it would be way fucking scarier to know only the government can own them. Call me whatever bullshit you want, there's no way in this climate of societal upheaval, with people more divided than ever, that guns are going anywhere. Leave that shit to places like New Zealand to punish law abiding citizens for one fucked up asshole.

I get the concept of wanting to be able to defend yourself from and/or overthrow a tyrannical government, theoretically it makes total sense and the founding fathers realised this. The thing is though, wtf is a gun going to do against the government? They already won, they’re already in power. I could have fucking Doomguy’s arsenal and it wouldn’t do diddly dick against the military’s drones, tanks and other secret tech we don’t even know about. They’ve spent decades investing billions into enough weapons to wipe several countries off the map if they really wanted, wtf is a shotgun or some shit going to do up against that?
To be clear, I really really hate that it is this way, that we’re all under the thumb with little means of recourse. In this era of total militarisation I just think the idea of standing up to the oppressors as a rag-tag team of civilians is a pipe dream, a jerk off session, a complete and utter fantasy. As much as I wish it wasn’t.

Lol I love that Zappa avatar because it's constantly mocking everything above it. I'm being hyperbolic of course but there's on part we can agree on; the government should fear the people, not the other way around. Things would be really fucking crazy bad in the US if we didn't have the second amendment.

I'm being hyperbolic of course but there's on part we can agree on; the government should fear the people, not the other way around. Things would be really fucking crazy bad in the US if we didn't have the second amendment. That's why I picked this avatar, Frank is just rolling his eyes at all of us!
So I want to ask how the 2nd amendment helps you guys. You say things would be crazy bad but why is that? I'm not trying to be a condescending prick or whatever, I actually am really curious to hear your responses. I'm not some hardline anti-gun guy or whatever so I actually think I could come to an understanding of your position. We already talked about the tyranny thing and basically agree that guns were (at a time) one solid way to keep the government in line, but that time has passed within the last few decades. In theory I get the argument of using it for protecting your home from intruders, but only 0.9% of crimes in the US actually involve someone using a gun for self defense ( link). EDIT: Fixed the link because this forum software is retarded: www.bjs.gov/content/pub/pdf/fv9311.pdf Given that, it seems very very unlikely that someone is going to defend their home with a firearm, though of course there are anomalies. Is it just because guns are fun to shoot at the range or you enjoy hunting? If that's the reason, I wouldn't argue.
For home defense I keep a beating stick by my bed like a proper cave man. It's a solid, heavy cricket bat. If I hear suspicious sounds at night I'll take a look around armed with the beating stick! I've never had to use it though and hope it stays that way. I was robbed once while working as a cashier, but I've never been robbed on the street, knock on wood. I used to carry a small knife with me but haven't been the last few years mainly because I don't even think to, the crime rate is low where I live. I'm content with a knife on the go and a beating stick at home when it comes to self defense though. The main reason for this is that I'm much less likely to hurt myself or others with it by accident.
@glen - I think there's definitely an element of that. It's all a matter of what makes people sleep easier. Home break ins aren't super uncommon in the US so I get it to some degree. Actually, all the data I could find on the likelihood of a home invasion was totally out of whack and wildly different depending on what source I looked to, so who knows.. Some said there was a 1 in 36 chance per year, articles full of fear mongering and trying to sell you home protection equipment by the way, others said 1 in 300 and some even said 1 in 600. I guess they're all full of shit but the fact of the matter is that you're unlikely to ever be robbed in the first place and even if you are, you're REALLY unlikely to stop the intruder using a gun.

Like I said, in America you have next to no gun control laws, where you can go into a fucken department store and buy them and check them out alongside your pyjamas and training bra. I've even seen banks there offer firearms as join up promotional tools ffs. You're wrong: 1) We have already several gun control laws at the Federal level - We ban felons - People who have been committed to mental institutions - Banned/heavily restricted machine guns - Banned silences (for what reason, who the fuck knows) - Banned slide fire stocks (what the media calls "bump stocks" .... You can thank Donald Blumpf for this) 2) We have gun control at the state level (which varies) - If you live in any one of these states: New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, California, Maryland, Rhode Island, Colorado, Illinois, Hawaii ... you're rights are heavily restricted. - Even the more "gun -lax" states such as Florida have their own restrictions. Most states don't grant the right to carry, even though the US Constitution allows it. If you are referencing that Michael Moore documentary about the bank offering the "free gun" for opening an account, they still do a federal background check on the recipient opening the account. So, who gives a shit if some average Joe from middle America gets a 308 hunting rifle while passing a Federal background check? Criminals don't use those weapons for crimes. What it comes down to is this; I'm not living in a country where the government is armed and the citizens are not. You think the average Chinese person is truly happy with a camera shoved right up their asshole, told they can't get on a plane or ride a bus because they lit a cigarette in a non-smoking area? Leave that shit to places like New Zealand to punish law abiding citizens for one fucked up asshole. ^This. Thank you Justince. well your "argument" is complete bullshit because:
1 - people do not need assault weapons to defend themselves, unless they are fighting an army
2 - people do not need assault weapons to fight tyranny, unless they are living in some shithole country dictatorship >A-Salt rifles should be banned unless you live in a dictatorship ... Are you serious? Do you not realize dictators like Stalin, or Mao banned firearms to the average citizen so they don't fight back? So how the hell are people suddenly supposed to bear arms when all the gun shops are outlawed or under bureaucratic control? >You don't need A-Salt rifles to defend themselves, unless they are fighting an army.Ok enjoy defending your property from a pack of savage rioting thugs with a shitty .22LR bolt action rifle. I'm sure that would work real well while cops take an eternity to quell rioting, like from the LA RIOTS in 1992. Oh and speaking of LA Riots... Rooftop Koreans had plenty of heavy duty firepower to protect their property and their lives from the raging maniacs. P.S. - The gun-obsessed culture of America is still super creepy and weird and cult-like!! Yeah? Well... that's just like your opinion, man. I get the concept of wanting to be able to defend yourself from and/or overthrow a tyrannical government, theoretically it makes total sense and the founding fathers realized this. The thing is though, wtf is a gun going to do against the government?
More links of civilian/military coup revolts
In theory I get the argument of using it for protecting your home from intruders, but only 0.9% of crimes in the US actually involve someone using a gun for self defense ( link). You're link is 404 Not Found. I'm also a bit skeptical that 0.9% claim, as not all gun related situations are reported to authorities. Home break ins aren't super uncommon in the US so I get it to some degree. EDIT: Disregard, i read this wrong. I oversaw "uncommon" and accidental read it as aren't super common. I'm content with a knife on the go and a beating stick at home when it comes to self defense though. The main reason for this is that I'm much less likely to hurt myself or others with it by accident. And that's fine if you wish to defend yourself that way. Heck, I have sword, and a tomahawk under my bed God-forbid some devious bad guy were to break into my home. But I think people, especially people who aren't physically fit to defend themselves from criminals, should have the right to defend themselves with a firearm as an equalizer. I mean shit, could a 5'0 woman successfully fend off a 6'6 criminal with a stick? (Probably not). A knife? (Perhaps). But hand-to-hand combat is risky... Also, I know I've said this before (probably on Doomworld), but the main reason for why the US has a higher number of gun homicides/crime is mostly due to the ongoing war on drugs. I can't believe I'm actually posting an article from Huffpost ... but for once they are unbiased in their publishing: www.huffpost.com/entry/war-on-drugs-gun-violence_b_2624873 An overwhelming majority of gun crime comes from the inner cities, and they are mostly due to drug related crimes. You can probably cut the gun homicide/crime rate at least in half if we didn't have such a war on drugs.

The thread killer cometh... what is the thread killer? The one who posts shit that no one reads... aye, that’s one description. The one who posts links to things no one will ever read... why’s that? Because he couldn’t make his point enough on his own, no intelligence you see, and he thinks we’re going to waste our life reading the things no sane one would read. What’s that? A double post? Cause the shit he offers filled the toilet so much it overflowed. A loser? Can it be? The ignorance of the friendless is blinded to the light the rest see. Boring? Aye, but that’s not his worst sin. Then again it is, maybe, he doesn’t know, we all suffer again. Refresh. The page we are on, this boring cunt is so wrong that the wrong is not interesting, indeed. A disease, he should suffer the most, but we don’t and he doesn’t. Ignorance. Cause no cunt actually reads a Grug post.

Cause no cunt actually reads a Grug Glen post. FTFY. I read the whole thing and enjoyed it. Well thought out arguments resonate with people that have IQs above 70. Glenzinho troll posts offer nothing of value, repeating the same vague insults and four-letter swear words ad nauseam.

Ah the typical nothing of relevance Glen post. Thinks he's high and mighty. Praises those who shares the same opinions as him, condemns those with shitposts he disagrees with. Little does Glen know that he really belongs here. If you own a gun you're way more likely to use it on yourself than some random innocent person Alright alright, you’ve convinced me. Bob can keep his gun. >Implying to a forum moderator that he would be happy that Bob would suicide. You really are the lowest of all filth. Please spare the future generations of the world from your offspring by sterilizing yourself.

Don't drink and surf the internet at the same time, Glen. That's probably why you're banned from Doomworld and are clueless as to why.

I was first in doubt if you were stupid or just trolling by repeating the same "hurr durr we need guns to fight the tyranny, I saw it on Red Dawn/ we need fucking machineguns to fight rioters, because they are clearly super-humans that will not fear non-automatic weapons" shit that bob already posted, but then I saw you were trying to convince people using /pol/ screenshots, so suddenly everything was explained
