from time to time someone gets virtually lynched for making an insensitive joke, idgaymes archives still doesn't accept harri's maps and lots of people seem to lose their shit whenever someone mentions gun violence in schools. really, it's time to accept that the columbine massacre will be forever associated with our favorite FPS

That very thing happened to 40oz himself after he released UAC Ultra 2. I think all he said was "Happy Columbine Day, here are my new maps." Granted, it wasn't exactly in great taste, but some DW members predictably got overly offended because it's cool to get super-offended by everything nowadays, since that definitely means you are a better person than people who only get slightly offended or not offended at all.

nobody I associate with gives a single shit about it. The only people who keep putting this stale bullshit on the table are try-hard edgelords and the perpetually offended.

They're interesting from a historical perspective but I understand not wanting to glorify a dipshit murderer and I guess they think that mirroring the wads is doing that, which I disagree with, but oh well. They'll always be out there for anyone with a morbid curiosity (who also wants to be disappointed by snoresville generic 90s maps) so it's a big whatever for me personally.

If I recall I played the Columbine WADs and they were somehow even worse than your generic 1995 Doom WAD. I especially cringed at how they added more blood to the monster's death sprites via the MS Paint pencil tool. Considering that many modern mods do the same shit with blood, could the Columbine shooters have influenced Brutal Doom? Let's Find Out!
really? It has been years since I last played Uac Labs, but I remember it being pretty OK episode 1 worship

Lol, I just rediscovered this UAC Labs playthrough:
The guy pretends he doesn't know anything about Columbine and treats Eric as a nice and still existing person, saying things like "I'm sure he moved on to better things in life". As you can imagine, the comment section is quite something...

Tbh removing them from the mirror and not glorifying them was the best thing to do.. at the time anyway, when the wounds were still fresh..

You guys care a little too much about preserving Harris' maps, his maps suck, he sucks, end of story, nobody needs to accept it just because it happened 20 years ago, it's not even a meme like 9/11, so what's the value? Questionable behavior.

he was a person who did a bad thing, his maps give a insight into how his mind worked, his creativity, just like how we preserved his journals to figure out why he did what he did.

Doom maps aren't as personally insightful as actual journals with topics and guides, so there's something to see and prevent from being published in the future, but his Doom maps can go into the bin, they're useless in that regard.

Columbine is embarrassing. No one should feel compelled to understand these fucks. They shot a bunch of unarmed kids because they got made fun of. They're douchebags of the highest order. Now Rambo, there's a guy who should be honored more in Doom maps.

They're douchebags of the highest order. Possibly, but it's not like they were dreaming of becoming douchebags since childhood. There must have been some chain of events that made them what they are, and if we examine these events we might figure out how to prevent similar tragedies from happening. Is there something wrong with this logic?

I agree with justince and (shock horror!) joe on this one. Sometimes memfy there just isn’t anything you can learn to prevent shit happening. Some people are just born bad, or without dreams or capability to. Let their works be shunned and have the curious search out their wads and be bored... nothing of value will be lost unlike their victims. The saddest part is as we can see in America how these mass random shootings happen almost daily and nobody blinks anymore, we’ve become numb to it. I put the commonness of these incidents down to gun control or lack thereof, because when it’s a bad egg’s time to crack and they have easy access to weaponry, only bad things can happen. We’ve got bad eggs in Oz too, but with our gun control laws our such incidents can be counted on one hand since the Port Arthur massacre in 94. New Zealand had nothing like this previous to Christchurch and the way NZ PM Jacinta Adern has handled it has been spectacular. Swift introduction of tighter laws as well as not giving the perpetrator the oxygen he desires by refusing to even have his name mentioned in the press. I read this nut’s manifesto after it happened so I can tell this attention depravation must be killing him. When cunts like this realise they will just be wiped from history like nothing happened some may think twice about doing this kind of shit, but there will always be another nutter who just don’t give a fuck.

I agree but it shouldn't be forgotten or censered, And stricter gun laws don't do crap.. If some bad people want a gun they will find a way, no matter legal action is taken. Because they don't care about the law, if they did the n they wouldn't be wanting to do it

It's not censored nor forgotten, but if you go onto Doomworld trying to raise this type of discussion clearly you have no idea where the hell you are. About the gun laws, that's the same ignorant shitty defence of them that I've heard a million times and didn't believe the first time I heard it. Like I said, in America you have next to no gun control laws, where you can go into a fucken department store and buy them and check them out alongside your pyjamas and training bra. I've even seen banks there offer firearms as join up promotional tools ffs.
Here in Australia, the bad guys can get guns if they desperately want them of course, same as any country, but usually these same bad guys aren't stupid enough to just go around shooting whatever the fuck they want, whenever they want just for the hell of it. Their sense of self preservation is much greater than that. Our history in the last 25 years since strict gun controls were introduced are proof enough, and if you think strict control gun laws don't work you're ignorant as fuck and I'm assuming American where they don't exist. Another thing, when someone who has no business having a gun here does something stupid with it and gets caught, the hammer comes down from the criminal community just as harsh as from the police because the people who matter in the criminal community don't want their shit being raked over because of a dumb cunt. In America just about any dumb cunt with no prior offence history can walk out of a store with one and nobody is going to be able to predict that something terrible was gonna happen after the fact because they had no prior offence history. It's also easier for bad guys there to get their hands on a gun because they are simply fucken everywhere.
Now doctor, you've been here just a few days and your entire post history is strictly about this shit or how Doomworld mods are big meanies, so do you have anything else to offer or are you just a boring one dimensional cunt?

I don't know, the idea that some humans are beyond salvation is just so depressing. I think one of the reasons I like to defend people who do bad things is that I know I'm not completely above immoral acts myself, and I want to believe that if I end up doing something terrible others will try to understand and help, not just hate. Being considered a lost cause would really suck. But maybe this kind of idealistic thinking is typical for people of my age, let's see what I say in 10 years or so.
The point about attention and publicity is very interesting. Makes me wonder why these cases attract so much attention. For some reason reading about serial killers on Wikipedia can be really fascinating, also there are lots of books and movies about all sorts of famous crimes, etc. It's like that stuff is horrible and yet in a way we love it and we want more.

They're talking about tearing the entire school down, like somehow that's going to erase what happened. Revisionist history is the worse possible thing to do in these cases. It's just going to bring even more unwanted attention to their dumb little town.
If you want to talk about gun control that's another whole can of worms. Most school shooting are carried out with properly obtained firearms taken from their own parents, and most of them knew their kid was somewhat fucked in the head (looking at you, Lanza family assholes). Another statistic people glaze over is armed confrontation; when confronted by an opposing force these child shooters will either give up or kill themselves. There's your self-preservation. That's why that coward cop at Stoneman is still being indicted for being a pussy. Had he confronted that shooter I guarantee you many lives would have been saved.
Start with gun control and in a few decades you'll be handing over butter knives and potato peelers like our neighbors the great Cucks of England.

Start with gun control and in a few decades you'll be handing over butter knives and potato peelers like our neighbors the great Cucks of England. Exactly. No one ever talks about personal responsibility whenever gun violence is brought up; it's always somehow the gun's fault that the massacre happened. How about we get people to raise their children better? Or look at how the media and other environmental factors might be affecting kids' development? Or address the rising problem of single-parent households, especially in the black community? Funny how there is a gun violence epidemic in Chicago, the state with some of the strictest gun laws in the nation. If taking away guns was the answer, Chicago would be gun violence-free. But it's not, because the people there are being raised in a toxic culture. They would resort to violence whether guns were present or not. That's the real issue: the people, not the guns.

there's no plausible reason for a civilian to own a fucking assault rifle, easy access to automatic weapons is certainly a factor that encourages this kind of action. Of course it's just a minor part of the problem, but still, the amerikkkunts are at fault on this aspect

Also, there is no easy access to automatic weapons in America. Your ignorance is on display. Semi-automatic firearms can be purchased with a background check, but automatic weapons are quite hard to obtain. Here's a breakdown of what has to happen before you can get a truly automatic weapon. You'd have to...
1. Find someone selling the firearm you want. 2. Find a Class III FFL that can do the transfer for you. 3. Fill out ATF Form 4. 4. Get your fingerprints taken. 5. Submit the fingerprints and Form 4 to the ATF with a $200 check for the transfer tax. 6. Pay for the firearm.(automatic rifles cost around $20,000 to $30,000, which is cost prohibitive for most people) 7. Wait 6–12 months. 8. Pick up the firearm from the Class 3 FFL.
Sorry thundercunt, but despite your cerebral and mature user name, you are coming off almost as stupid as Glen here.
