EDIT: This is no longer a WIP, the map is officially finished! Hi doomer boards members,I have a new map to contribute today, it is called Hell Complex and I've spent the past week making it. It is still a WIP but it's very close to being finished, I just need to polish it up a little and it'll be good to go. I wanted to post it here and maybe get some feedback. It is a single player map using only stock doom textures, with custom music. I have tested it on prboom+(comp lvl 9), glboom+, and GZDoom. The IWAD is Doom 2. Also, the map is relatively long, it is around 10-15 minutes, I didn't plan it that way originally but, well, it just kind of grew bigger than I expected. I'm a relatively new mapper, as this is only my 4th doom map. But I put a lot of work into making it good, anyways here are some screenshots, feel free to download and tell me what you think Thanks for your time, have fun ! Final version: Hellcomplexfinal

Cool map! I couldn't figure out what to do after I got the yellow key though. Is this map finished?
Played in prboom-plus cl9

Hey, thx for playing, ya its pretty much finished. The only thing I'm gonna change is probably just add some random scenery and more details.
After you get the yellow key, there is an underground area right next to the start of the map, and inside the underground area is a teleporter, leading to the place shown in the 3rd screenshot above. Once you have the yellow key you can access the door shown in the picture above, to proceed.

Ah shit I forgot about that. I did find that place early on but I must not have noticed the door, thanks! I'll have to give this one another go.
The map is pretty big and nonlinear, like MAP11: The Factory. The use of wall textures on some of the doors seemed a little strange for me. I wasn't very confused or had trouble navigating though.. Also I think I got lucky at guessing that pressing on the computer panels would reveal the blue key. There's a trick you can do where you can put a switch texture on the lower part of the computer and offset the texture so the switch cant be seen, but when you operate the computer it makes the sound cue of a switch to tell the player they did something right. I'd probably recommend doing that so an impatient player doesn't just wall hump everything and run away before the blue key lowers.
The yellow key trap was pretty nice, and I like that you shut doors behind the player in some of the traps so they can't run away, for a quick little scramble.
I have a preference for small maps, but there wasn't much to dislike in this map. Have you been working on maps for a while? What kind of maps have you played that inspire you to map?

I got into doom mapping around september last year, Its been a lotta fun, but I havent made too many maps. I made a few other wads, and posted a couple of them on the forums. So far ive played a bunch of wads, including a bunch that have been posted over on DW. I think my biggest inspirations tbh would be Doom 64's maps, which I love the design of, as well as Counterattack, Breach, Rebel Sky, various cacoward winners, etc. I guess I just like to map for fun, I might even make a map and not upload it at all. I have another WIP that is pretty far along that I abandoned, I dont plan on uploading it but its still a pretty fun map and I like to play it from time to time. I wasnt sure if this one was worth uploading or not, to be honest. I'm gonna put in some more work and make it look nicer, then I was planning on posting it either on DW or just uploading to the idgames archive, depending on the kind of feedback I get here.
Ya, I may change the door textures. For sure ill change the computers though, so that there is an audible switch sound when you press them. I might revamp the entire area around there actually. The map is still very much a WIP, so I'll see where it goes. I just wanted to see what kind of reception it would get and whether or not it I want to work on it further.

Sure thing, I am still working on this by the way, progress is being made daily. The screenshots above aren't really accurate anymore since the map looks completely different aesthetics-wise, so I took the liberty of posting the old version as well as the new updated version of the map. The old one is the original you see in the pictures, the new one is the same map but with a lot more detail and some new stuff added. Feel free to download either one.
