Well I don't really need to explain in great detail what he did, but if you are living under a rock, just google him.
I'm not offended, but I can understand why people are offended. His judgment was very poor and he most likely did not take into consideration on how his audience would react. I saw the original video re-uploaded on another channel (youtube just took it down a few hours ago).
I think that Logan is a typical cam-whore immature millennial. Just pick any random video of his, and you'll say "why the fuck does this 22 year old guy, who acts like a total buffoon, have 15 million+ youtube subscribers?" And he's a multimillionaire... at age 22.... all from cam-whoring. This is a problem with my generation. Millennials feel the need to record and broadcast literally everything without stopping to think "hmmm maybe it's not a good idea to release this video of a dead guy on the internet." It's a pathetic cam-whoring "me me me" mentality.
Dumb things he did in that video: 1) Cracked a few jokes about dead bodies 2) Kept recording the dead body, but at least had the common sense to blur-out the face. He said (and I'm paraphrasing) "omg his hands are like purple!" .... really dude? lol You don't think that a segment of your audience is going to find this extremely distasteful? Or what about some of your audience who may have survived suicide or knew people in their family who committed suicide?
Overall, his mannerisms were very immature, and yes I understand people use humor as a coping mechanism, but the way he acted was practically child like... which I guess is the way he acts in all of his videos. Like of an 8 or 10 year old. Arms flailing, obnoxious grunting, etc... and it's all throughout the video. This isn't the way an adult is supposed to act. But what's really striking a nerve is the lack of dignity this guy has towards the situation. Again, it's not a good idea to broadcast to the world your "coping mechanism" to a serious situation.
Is this the end of his career? I doubt it. Give it some time and he'll be back making more ridiculous videos.... maybe after a couple of weeks of some time off. He'll probably do some charity work, most likely to help people with depression or suicidal thoughts to redeem himself, which is fine.
But honestly Logan, grow up. Take this as a wake up call to mature.

I think he's a vapid talentless moron fuck, but the people calling for him to be banned or censored somehow are a bit silly. He should be able to make videos like this and we should be able to watch them, downvote them and ridicule them. I think "what not to do"-type examples are just as useful as "what TO do" ones. Plus there's an added benefit of having people like him around: We can instantly write off anyone who really likes him as a total moron, thus sparing ourselves the pain of finding out the old fashioned way!

context: nymag.com/selectall/2018/01/logan-paul-suicide-forest-video-youtube.htmlOver the weekend, the YouTube star Logan Paul (older brother of Jake Paul) visited Aokigahara, a forest on the slopes of Mt. Fuji in Japan also known as the “suicide forest” for its status as a site of hundreds of suicides. While there, Paul seems to have filmed the body of a person who had hanged himself from a tree, and then posted the footage to YouTube with the title “We found a dead body in the Japanese Suicide Forest…”-- Is the information in this article accurate? Based on what is reported in the article, it doesn't sound so bad.

I had to Google this fuck because I don't watch trendy "vlogs" or Youtube videos of that sort made for people with ADD and no attention span. The way they edit those videos is offensive. Everything cuts immediately to the next, with no pause points or room to breathe. It's as if the vlogger is afraid that any speck of dead air that isn't filled with "content" will cause a viewer to click away. It's garbage made for a garbage generation.
This dude looks like a complete fucking dork. What is that yellow hat he's wearing? That looks like something some autistic dickhead at an anime convention would wear. Christ help us. Do people really watch this guy's videos?
We really are doomed as a culture. Looks like we have a front-row seat to the fall of Western civilization, and it starts with people celebrating piss-stains like this guy.

This is one of those times I gladly ignored questioning memes and it turned out well. Last time I gave a fuck about memes, uhh... was it this summer? I know I skipped Despacito and I am a proud holder of the "Never listened to Despacito" achievement. Other than that, as far as I got, some youtuber went to a forest, seen a body, chuckled, and now a lot of people are pissed, yeah? I don't want to know anything more about that, since if I dare to give my two cents about suicide, well...

it's less a case of knowing the individual in question and more a case of hoping the neverending cavalcade of mentally retarded chimp-shit piling up on your front lawn finally catches fire, because at least that's interesting to look at.

DUMB INTERNET PERSONALITY DOES DUMB THINGS ON THE INTERNET
Just have this as a non-clickable headline on every news site. There is no need to go into further detail.

It's not simply dumb, Memfis, it's also disrespectful and the person also has a lot of easily influenced children watching his videos and this is what he does with this power and recognition instead of doing something good to be remembered for, take for example PewDiePie, he's the kind of guy that's doing what should be done by a person with the power to influence and be a role-model to not only children, but people as a whole. (He donated 1M$ to charity, he's polite, sincerely apologizes if he does something wrong, he isn't being an asshole and takes things well despite the shit he gets without harassing anyone, etc. Unlike the Paul brothers who do the opposite)

I'm not sure if I care about these "but it influences the children!" arguments. When I was a kid people were saying the same thing about games I was playing, cartoons I was watching, etc. And maybe some of my interests were indeed "bad" but that's a part of growing up, isn't it? A lot of people go through that angsty rebellious period when they laugh at shitty suicide jokes and think the whole world is stupid for not understanding them. And that seems almost like a necessary part of the process of becoming an adult. You need to be a dumb kid at some point so that later in life you can look back on your past self and make adjustments. So I'm not convinced that we should be removing all that offensive stuff from the internet in hopes of protecting the children. Perhaps they don't need out protection that much and perhaps they can figure shit out on their own.

I've been wondering about those "think about the children" types of arguments too. I think it really downplays how complicated and miraculous our minds are. We're not just a bunch of blank slates that absorb and develop our moral conscience from the entertainment we watch.
Not to drag doomworlds BD thread into this, but I was really not clicking with MetroidJunkie's argument that something needs to happen to SgtMarkIV because if it doesnt it opens to floodgates for everyone to do crazy shit, as if everyone has been desperately waiting to do a similar prank and now they finally have a reason to. The stuff that usually influences people to do bad things is usually much more inconspicuous than something like this.

The guy is an absolute piece of shit with no empathy... if you see his other vlogs (and this is just during his stay at Japan); he runs around taking advantage of their politeness and their being generally non confrontational to foreigners by disrespecting their culture, going into their places of worship trolling them with a camera (cameras aren't allowed btw), harassing people and throwing pokemon softballs at them, you see him and his friends get scornful looks, he toys with the police and disrespects them, you see him buying fish and then throwing them on cars, breaking shit in shops and pretending it broke by accident. Running down streets and yelling, rolling on the floor in roads, trespassing, playing dumb when he gets called out (again, taking advantage of their politeness) etc.. ALWAYS lowkey trolling waiters and shopkeepers.. you see their Japanese guide having to constantly apologize to authorities... when Japanese people are sick they wear masks and Logan is too selfish to realize (or care) that these masks aren't just to protect yourself, but to protect OTHER people from your germs, so he makes a point of coughing in public with his mask in his hand.
The dumbest part of this video is that he warns Japanese kids not to go where the body is (not that they'd trespass in the first place, mind you) because obviously he's a good guy who thinks children shouldn't see something like that... then goes on to upload a video with the body in the thumbnail so his subscribers who are mostly children see the body before they even know what the video is about.
The saddest part is this guy is famous, his subscriber count fluctuated because of this, his fans defend against accusations of clickbait and trying to do a publicity stunt with "but the video wasn't monetized!" (ignoring the fact that Logan even said himself Youtube's algorithm wouldn't have let it get monetized in the first place), wow, they clearly debunked the criticisms because obviously every celebrity, comedian or person of interest in history monetized their publicity stunts. A lot of people say that laughing was his coping mechanism, but after looking at his other videos it's clear that he's laughing because he doesn't see them as human.. and then ofcourse there's the uploading of the footage in the first place.
