This struck all the right chords with me, I hope it turns out as good as it looks.

The more I look into it, the more promising it seems... this soundtrack is nothing short of badass.

This really does look fantastic. I'll be getting this when it comes out.
On a related note, if you're into this type of game you really owe it to yourself to get Odallus. I know I made a thread about it already, but it bears repeating. It's like 15 bucks on GOG. Buy it.

I actually own Odallus and it's pretty damn awesome... a sincere loveletter to it's inspirations.

www.locomalito.com/You guys have GOT to check out this guy's website if you haven't already. He makes retro-style video games and makes them available for free! Of particular note would be Maldita Castilla, The Curse of Issyos, Hydorah, and Gaurodan, but really all of his games look amazing. Issyos is a bit of a Castlevania/Ninja Gaiden style game, while Maldita is an obvious ode to Ghosts 'N Goblins and Hydorah pays homage to Gradius. I'm really impressed with the amount of work this guy puts in. These are games that I would gladly pay money for, and back in the day these would have sold for $40 to $50 a pop. I'm gonna make a paypal donation to this guy in the next few days, if nothing else maybe it will keep him interested in making these games.

Maldita Castilla is fucking badass, a lot better than most commercial "retro for the sake of retro" sidescrollers coming out these days.
