There seems to be a lot of 80's themed stuff revealing itself into the spotlight of the mainstream these days. It's coming in the form of music in Synthwave music genre, games like Retro City Rampage and Hotline Miami, and TV shows and Movies like Stranger Things and Blade Runner. The revival of this old flavor is coming back in a juicy new form.
I happened to catch the movie "Final Destination" on TV a few weeks ago. There was a time years after the movie where it still felt modern. But having watched it again in late 2017, it seemed to really identify in a variety of ways how much everything has changed since those days. As time moves on, the 90's is really starting to solidify it's style. The gradual shift has left the 90's in a clearly different style than how we wear our clothes, watch our shows/movies, and live our lives today. It had me wondering, will 90's themed stuff make a comeback in our media?
Will we inevitably start seeing movies that try to accurately capture history in the 90's style? Like a modern take on a 90's style Jurassic Park, Terminator 2, or Friday the 13th? Will grunge, emo, and pop/rock bands make a comeback?

Just to clarify, all classic Friday the 13th films were made in 80s.
Yeah, I like 90s films more. To me, the biggest problem with modern films is that they use way too much CGI and visual effects, which makes them somewhat less believable and natural. I'm mostly here talking about sci-fi pictures. Many modern sci-fi films are all shiny and colourful with visual effects and CGI being very complex, which, to me, makes it look more like a cartoon. I mean, compare something like Star Wars I: The Phantom Menace (1999) to something like Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (2017). The first one is more simplistic in terms of visual effects and looks more natural and appealing to me. Or maybe it's just my taste, I don't know.. But then, again, not all modern films overuse visual effects.
My favourite time was late 90s to early 00s (let's say 1997-2004). There were many amazing games and films with their own unique styles made during that time period and I wish they would make a comeback. Well, some of them sort of came back, such as a psychological sci-fi horror film Cube (1997), which has a distinct minimalistic look, made a sort-of-comeback as the Portal game, which has similar minimalistic look and is also seen by some as a psychological horror.

Once folks who grew up in the 90s get old enough, influential enough and "prevailent" enough (not sure if that's a word, correct me plz??), it certainly will, like it did with the 80s.
also 300th post hehehe
P.S. I wish I had seen the 90s myself, seemed like a cool time to be in. Esp here in the ruins of socialism.
