I've always had trouble finding the right words to describe sound, but I'm kind of falling in love with the idea of reviewing music as a parallel to some sort of pain or torture. Like if it's something really fast and punchy, its a really sharp pain like a burn or an electrical shock, where as something that's slower, darker, and melancholic is more of a throbbing debilitating like a headache, or flesh eating disease. Heavy metal that's more DIY garage band type stuff is like a baseball bat or a chainsaw, while more spacey, technical, and highly produced stuff is more like a powerdrill or tesla coils or something.
The best music accomplishes the most variety of different pains and torture. I could call it "Voodoo Review"

►Behind Enemy Lines - Know Your Enemy◄This album is like Japanese stuka planes raining lead on a battlefield, and suicidal oil tankers strapped with explosives. If I was right wing fascist white supremacist I've been told I am, I'd probably detest the SJW diatribe this band pushes. The bands political soapbox is jammed in the poetic aabbccdd structure in pretty much every song, covering a different topic in each track, lik homosexuality, class warfare, and religion in politics, etc. The message is a little tired today, as it's become mainstream, but I like the approach. Unlike the bellowing growl that nearly all crust and grind bands use, the vocalist's voice is raspy, but also very human, which I think helps with the message. I'm not smart enough to distinguish the talent shown through the instruments, but I love the energy behind it.

►Napalm Raid - Wheel of War◄This band is a goddamn tornado of missiles and butcher knives. The electrical execution of the crash cymbals never stops, and the furious pace is consistent throughout. The vocals remind me of crust giant Doom. I can't think of much more to say about this menace, but I love it.

►LENG 'TCHE - Razorgrind◄This Belgian hospital crisis is a hailstorm of surgical knives and iron nails. It's a complete aural assault about 75% of the time, with calm eyes of the storm that makes it pretty approachable despite being pretty heavy and grindy as one might one expect from this thread. I like it a lot, especially for the risky rock organ song, track 11 which is soooo awesome.

►Death Evocation - Self Titled◄This groovy raspy shredder is not something I'm sure deathevokation would like, but only because I haven't seen his face melting acid bath of a music thread here yet! But obviously with that name I had to check it out, and im glad I did! This short burst of an album is an electrical fire that lifts you off your seat. There's a lot of variety in female thrash vocals; some are great, some are not. This is great. For a 12 minute album, it's pretty progressive and trippy like a stoner rock album with some fire under its ass.

(something I verified as awesome years ago, so I can recommend even when not feeling well)

►Bastard Priest - Merciless Insane Death◄Cool recommendation DeathevokatioN! This album produces toxic inclement weather. The black rain raises the dead from their graves to spread their flesh eating disease. These guys reek with the grimy garage band stench of old-school deathmetal bands of the late 80's. They shred hard, and I'm glad to be a part of the necromancy.

►Deathtoll 80k - Harsh Realities◄My bunker is holding strong in the warzone. Put your helmet on because you're going to war. This is an album that levels cities, burying everything in concrete and ash. The bombs never stop, and every track is an air strike of nuclear warheads. Lift your head for a second and you'll be perforated with bullets. This is one of my favorite grind albums of all time. IN GRIND WE CRUST

If you're still in a mood for grinding death metal... here's a cult American band with lyrics inspired by old exploitation films, Italian zombie flicks, b grade slasher & horror flicks. It's really brutal stuff that captures the atmosphere of the movies they're inspired by quite well while still being able to stand on it's own. Their second album is more traditional death metal, though. ;P

►Trap Them - Crown Feral◄Trap Them is a band that is a little different than what I normally post in this thread, but in terms of my personal quest for the perfect sound, this is one unique hardcore/grind hybrid that fits the mold. It's a cold, desolate wasteland, buried in bones that haunts your dreams. I love every sound this band makes. The song titles and lyrics are mostly word salad, but the word selections sound really cool together. It would be nice if they were a bit more meaningful though. For me, it's the sound that makes awesome imagination fuel for my Doom projects, though.

►The Swarm (A.K.A. Knee Deep in the Dead) - Parasitic Skies◄The Swarm is one of the super obscure genres of hardcore punk that I can only describe as Canadiancore. Eastern canadian hardcore bands like Acrid, Chokehold, and Left for Dead, have this distinct heavy sludgey sound, that just reeks of sewage and irredeemable waste. I really like this point of no return thing they have going for themselves. I don't know if this thing is still going on, because I only became aware of it IN 2005 by following this network of friends through myspace (which is a very old-fashioned sentence). At the time I was listening to them, they were self-effacingly super anti-fascist, anti-capitalist, anti-religion, anti-conservatism, anti-drugs, anti-guns, anti-everything under the sun. The edginess of it was particularly captivating to me, and still is even if their views are becoming mainstream now. The sound of these bands still soothes my nerves and it's saddening to me that these views caught wind in the public's attention but the grief, desolation, and agony that fueled the art scene that carried it has been left behind.

►Kill The Client - Set for Extinction◄Kill The Client is a bone crushing sinkhole that engulfs entire cities. It is pure audio blitzkrieg, with instrumentals and vocals that are perfectly centered in my opinion of a perfect grindcore band. This album shreds. One of my favorites, for sure. IN GRIND WE CRUST (♫)

I've been in one of those phases where i'm listening to the same 4-5 albums over and over again and they haven't gotten old to me yet. They're all listed in this thread.

As you can notice from my thread I know lots of bands, and yet, there's a few bands I always come back to, such as Blood Incantation, Immortal, Craft, Bathory, Grave, Abigor, and so on.

►All Pigs Must Die - God is War◄This album is a merciless rush; a real freight train of destruction incinerating everything in its path and leaving no survivors. What is there to say when your earlobes conciously try to fold in to protect you from the devastating noise? You don't say a thing. You fall to your knees and watch the world burn.

This qualifies as noise pollution, think I'll leave it here. Moved to my own music thread.

►Power Trip / Integrity Split (Full 7")◄These deathdealers explode into an avalanche of facepunches and roundhouse kicks. Power Trip is more on the gritty thrashy side, while Integrity is comparatively more melodic and atmospheric. Both furious killers and an invigorating short listen that will wake you up faster than a tarantula in your sheets.

►Razor - Violent Restitution◄This album fucking shreds! 80's thrash metal doesn't always age well in my opinion, but these solos, screeching vocals, and double bass drum rolls are awesome. (♫) = ♥

(♫) = ♥ I have a copy of Violent Restitution(the original RC Records press) and Shotgun Justice(the original Fringe Product press) on CD, both of which are rare and pricey. I'll sell them to you for a deep discount since you're a fellow Doomer.

I appreciate the gesture but im not much of a collector. In fact I recently ripped all the music from my collection and backed them up on external hard drives and gave away all my CDs (~200 albums) for free to some happy guy on Craigslist.
