When I have some drinks, I tend to smoke a lot. When I'm bored, I do too, as well as when I'm stressed.

Industrial cigarettes are the McDonalds version of smoking. Get some real tobacco if you’re going to have a habit, it actually has flavour. They have tobacco in Marlboro brand.

I smoked two packs a day (Camel lights) for five or six years. Finally quit cold turkey about two years ago.
I don't feel any urges ever.
Now occasionally I will enjoy a nice hookah session with friends...maybe twice or three times a year.

I've been smoking on and off for the past 17 years. Right now, I'm smoking a pack a day for the past two months.

I used to smoke a little over 3 packs a day when I was younger. I'v dipped, done snus, smoke cigars, I vape, I'm a bit of a nicotine freak. I had quite smoking cigs for a good while, 3 years but I was vaping, But at my new job it was hard to get a way from all the cigarettes and picked it up again. Even with vaping I'm trying to keep it under 10 cigarettes a day, I really want to eliminate cigs all together and exclusivly vape again.
As for quiting nicotine, at this point it's just a stupid move for me, everytime I quite I get a real nasty psychotic break going, and then just end up smoking again. Started smoking at 14, 28 now.

I've been smoking cigarettes like a fucking crackhead lately. Anyone else have this issue? ?? I know it sounds cliche, but you should look to quit the daily smoking. Besides the fact it can cause numerous health issues in the near future, it's a waste of money. Let's say the average cigarette pack price is $9. You smoke 1 pack a day. 365 days in a year times $9 is $3,285 a year. Is smoking $3,285 worth of cigarettes really worth it? Think about it. I don't want to sound like a hypocrite, but I've smoked in the past (on occasion) and I don't think it's necessarily wrong to have a cigarette once in a while. But making it a habit each day is no good.

Don’t be too quick on the draw young dude. By those I meant people who think it’s nothing to kick the nicotine habit, when nicotine is reportedly more addictive than heroin, and those who think us smokers don’t know the cost of things. And a cunt.

I might be describing it poorly because I've never personally experienced the addictive pull of cigarettes, but I've asked people to describe it to me and what I've gathered is that the routine of the addiction is that it kinda makes you start to feel antsy and reactive until you have another one. Depending on the significance of your addiction, you'll buy a pack just to carry around so you know you have them when you feel you need them, and light one up when you need to be prepared for a situation that could potentially be mentally taxing or as some sort of daily ritual (like before work or being around a lot of people, etc.)
So it's not really a "come on, are cigarettes really that great" kinda situation as much as the reality of coping with the agitating feeling of being away from cigarretes has become really difficult. It's not even that they're not aware of the bodily harm and long term costs. It's just that it doesn't really feel relevant in the moment when the feeling is nagging on a daily basis.

I've tried watching some videos on how to assist someone who is trying to quit. Obviously the number one thing is that the smoker needs the will to do it. But from what I've watched so far, they say instead of reminding someone of all the risks when they say they want to go out for a cig, rather take notice of how long they go without smoking and say something that acknowledges how well they're doing. It's tough to do, and in my experience it hasn't been super effective, but bugging people about it only makes it worse.

Yeah it’s probably not wise to try to help a smoker when they are going through withdrawal. In fact you may come face to face with a real life demon. If you ever see me while on 24 hour flight halfway across the world, you’d better run if I haven’t had that sweet nicotine goodness.

I would feel seriously on edge. If I didn't have my smoke, I'd become irritable, anxious, angry, just a total asshole.
The way you describe it was very accurate, 40.
