I used to listen to this song as motivation to finish off my mods for Doom.
"Finish what you started
be open hearted
Don't be retarded
just finish what you started"

I really hate this genre... the debut albums of said bands were ok, but it ended up devolving into a bunch of uptight pseudo tough guys that often look down on everyone else at metal gigs (but attend anyway) acting like jocks in mosh pits (and outside mosh pits), always having a point to prove, bands like Bio Hazard LARPing about being underdogs in society, huddling up in music videos around trash can fires and rapping with hobos... then going back to their cozy homes straight after said music video. At the end, they seemed just as/if not more conscious about their atire than the people they tried to separate themselves from, constantly ranting about "how you don't need to dress up to like extreme music", sizing up guys wearing black and saying "wow those people look so gay" just as religiously as the most devout black metal bands who think everyone that doesn't wear clown makeup is worthy of scorn, to the point where it became too cringey for me to keep any New York Hardcore cds in my collection. ;P Not to mention the later generations of New York Hardcore were part of the reason this trash exists: ^ This cringelord lol... I didn't even know him, and my only encounter with him was during the Myspace era (mid to late 2000's) when he started sending my friends messages on how gay I was because I asked someone to stop posting rape lyrics (directed at me) on my front page. anyway, if you enjoy NYHC, then all the power to you.. it's mostly the scene kids that irritated the hell out of me. I guess every fanbase has "that group of people", though. Just this genre's music didn't justify the fanbase and knock off bands it spread across the world, atleast for me.

I like the 1988-style NYHC, the later bands and sound change did in fact suck, and gave rise to the evolution of the douche-heavy bands from 2000 era myspace. Nevertheless, NYHC in the 80s was probably my favorite style of punk in my opinion. The bands I posted are an example of it, well Gorilla biscuits has some shitty songs though. They're one of those bands that went on to suck. Also, don't forget, NYHC was very influential in the evolution of Crossover-thrash. Bands like Carnivore, Nuclear Assault, Stormtroopers of Death, etc.

Carnivore was fucking awesome... I guess I need to upgrade to the new version of doomer boards since the new emoticons are awful and I keep running into them by accident.
