Yo, last matter that we should agree on before I post the real-ass OP: For advanced ports (which will be allowed), how should we treat stuff like DECORATE? Should we allow new monsters/weapons to be added? Should new sprites be allowed? Can it be done in a way so that none of the maps conflict with any other one? Help me out yo!

Good question. I've hosted community projects, but I've never hosted a speedmapping session. When I see hosts allow things like every mapper can provide their own textures for their maps, and the maps can operate under any source port, I would definitely not want to be in the project hosts shoes. It just looks too complicated to manage. In my experience hosting community projects, I always spent almost an entire week writing the Opening Post explaining the rules and attempting to answer any questions before they're raised.
One one hand, you could just release the project as a folder with a bunch of separate wad files that you load one at a time, independently, Master Levels style. But on the other, releasing this with the intention of having a mappack for people to play all at once would require you to be concrete and consistent with rules even if it could possibly disappoint someone.
My opinion doesn't speak for everyone, but Limit Removing is my go-to mapping format. I also avoid making my own resources or using from other sources unless there's a designated resource pack to use from.

Yeah you do have a point ofc, but honestly I'm kinda sick of seeing the same old Boom stuff over and over again. I wanna see what are folks truly capable of. I think that the doomworld community (of which we're kind of a subset) doesn't see nearly enough advanced-ass maps. I want to change that™
So, how to handle advanced port stuff, yo anyone?

I would suggest that you allow advanced source port maps, but demand that people stick to the provided resources (music excepted). Makes your job as compiler much easier. Otherwise, if people submit maps with decorate or additional resources, you'll then have to make sure there's no conflicts and everything fits together. Nobody likes to do more work than they need to and you definitely don't want to be fiddling with other people's DECORATE, just to get some speed maps together. We can dump Realm667 or whatever into our personal projects.

BUMPERINO how'd you all feel about a sequel to this? Probably during some January weekend.
The speedmapping craze really died off, it seems. Remember the days when a new one would be announced on dw every week or so?
Also this forum has grown quite a bit since the first one TWO YEARS AGO!!!!!!! We'd probably attract a few more dudes.
Last but not least, matter of fact, probably the most, I kinda wanna make a map, ngl

Seems like a fair idea - I've enjoyed making the two UDMF speed maps I've made, and one of them was for the last one of these.
