To get in the mood for Halloween, I decided it would be fun to talk about some creepy stuff. Here is a good starting story, Elisa Lam! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_of_Elisa_LamOne of the creepiest and most mysterious deaths of all time. Here is the hotel video surveillance footage of her last known time alive, before she was later discovered dead on the roof of the hotel (inside the water tank). Her clothes were removed, and no signs or rape or blunt trauma was found. Her decomposing body was discovered two weeks later, after residents of the hotel complained about a strange taste and color of the tap water. It was turning black, and the water pressure itself was low. They were drinking rotting corpse. Even more eerie is the last seen footage or her. She appears to be hiding from someone in the hallway. Attempting to use the elevator, to no avail (it was malfunctioning). Her hand motions are unusual and suggest she was suffering from a possible psychotic episode (Elisa had been diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder prior to her death). The official ruling was an accidental tragedy. Police say she climbed to the top of the hotel (through the emergency fire escape exit) and managed to climb into one of the water tanks, drowning herself in her confused psychotic mental state. Of course, not everyone is content with that story. Some people suspect foul play was involved. Given the shady reputation of the low budget hotel, some suspect one of the hotel employees secretly murdered her, or drugged her. And dumped the leftover corpse in the water tank as a cover up. No takers? Lame.
Story Time
No exaggerations in this story (I hate when people exaggerate true stories). Anyway, five years ago I experienced something spooky with a few other friends. One of those strange (and true) stories that you never forget. It was this same time of year (late October) and we were hanging out at a playground. This playground was in the middle of a huge, open field. A massive area, that extended very far (like a soccer field) in three directions. The fourth direction (directly behind us) was near a road and residential houses. But even still, the road is some distance away.
It was in the evening, and chilly. Here in Canada, we all had light jackets on at this time (around 9 pm or so). So everything was fine, we were pretty high from smoking weed, but that's minor (it doesn't cause you to see or hear anything). No other drugs involved. Then out of nowhere, a little kid runs up to the three of us. He must have come from the road behind us, because I was glancing around the open field and there were no other people in sight. He was wearing shorts and a t-shirt, with a bicycle helmet on. For starters, it's strange that he would be dressed in summer clothing, considering how cold it was. Second, there was no bike to be seen. I specifically remember looking all around me for a sign that he had biked to the park, but there was nothing. No parent or guardian, no supervisor, nothing. My friends didn't see any signs of a bike either.
He just stood there, staring at us. My other two friends claim he was smiling. I remember him smiling as well, but I'm hesitant to report on it because my memory on what his face looked like is fuzzy. So maybe he wasn't smiling. But all three of us saw him, yet none of us asked if he was okay (which was a mistake, we should have said something). The kid didn't say anything. Because of how high we all were, and how young we were (16) we decided to run away, laughing. There was a sense of nervous laughter and anxiety we all shared, because of how creepy it was. We just wanted to leave. I don't remember looking behind me afterwards, but I imagine he stayed at the park. He didn't follow us.
Now, looking back on this incident years later (as an adult) I'm still not totally sure what really happened. I've talked to those same friends since then, and they're also unsure.
In retrospect, we should have been more concerned. Tried to get a hold of his parents, and help him. He was about seven years old. He could have eventually frozen to death, with how cold it was outside. Yet I still have no idea what he was doing wandering around so late without a care in the world, poorly dressed. It was surreal.
My guess is that he was lost, but I'll never truly know. If he was lost, why didn't he ask for help? Where were his parents? Bike? Friends? Why was he smiling? Seriously strange. Did he come from one of the residential houses? Why would his parents let him out so late (it was really dark outside) without warm clothing? Nothing adds up.

I'll bite. Peter Kürten AKA The Vampire of Düsseldorf, serial kller. born in 1883 and executed in 1931. He turned himself in and confessed to the murders of ten people, and the attempted murders of thirty one others between 1913 and 1929 (though he was only formally charged for nine counts of murder and seven counts of attempted murder). His youngest victim was a nine year old girl. He strangled and slashed her throat while she slept. He would reach orgasm whenever he killed somebody, but his given reason for these murders was "injustice in the world." He received his moniker for occasionaly attempting to drink the blood of his victims. Shortly before his execution, he turned to his psychiatrist and said, "Tell me... after my head is chopped off, will I still be able to hear, at least for a moment, the sound of my own blood gushing from the stump of my neck? That would be the pleasure to end all pleasures." Before execution was carried out, he was asked if he had any final words, to which he simply smiled and replied, "No." After he was beheaded in 1931, his head was dissected and mummified, because psychiatrists deemed him totally sane and people were certain that something had to be physically different in his brain. His very head is currently on display in Wisconsin Dells at the Ripley's Believe It or Not Museum, and I actually recently got to go check it out. Cool stuff. Further reading here.

This Peter Kürten guy has the 'thousand yard stare' of madness going on in his eyes too...

Found this on reddit. Saw a lot of weird shit over 2 deployments in Afghanistan… Best one was the “ghosts” that first showed up couple hundred yards outside the hesco barriers. First time (a little after dusk): Random PVT: “Hey there’s a dude out there” Me: “Where?” Random PVT: “Right FUCKING there. See?” Me: “You’re high, I don’t see shit.” Random PVT (stabbing an outstretched finger into the desert): “RIGHT THERE. LOOK. SEE HIM? THAT’S A FUCKING GUY.” Now I don’t have the greatest vision in the world, but I vaguely see a dark blob in the direction he’s pointing. Me: “You sure? Looks like a fucking shadow.” Random PVT: “SGT WE GOT A FUCKING GUY OUT HERE” SGT: “What’s he doing?” Random PVT: “Just standing there” SGT: “Where’d he come from?” Random PVT: “dunno he just popped up” (SGT comes over to have a look) SGT: “who’s this mother fucker?” PVT: “I dunno, I was talking to (Me) and looked back and he’s just standing there.” So we watch this “person” for about 3hrs, who just stands there, motionless, with its back to us. You could put optics on it and see it was a person, adult male, average height and build. Best part: we “borrowed” a thermal monocular and this fucker doesn’t register in it. ZERO FUCKING HEAT SIGNATURE. Then randomly, just poof, gone. Random PVT spends next 6 weeks telling everyone about the ghost we saw. Fast forward about 6months, out on some BS patrol and driver calls out 2 guys couple hundred yards standing on top this little berm (my asshole puckers waiting for the IED to kick off). Same scenario, two guys, backs to us, frozen. LT puts eyes on ’em and calls it in. We dismount, LT calls over terp asks if he knows what’s up (genius). Terp gives blank stare and shrugs. LT decides we should go have a look-see and do some hearts-and-minds shit. I stay in the truck (which feels like 140 fucking degrees), 20min goes by LT comes back with weird look on his face and says “we’re outta here.” Later that day I asked another guy WTF happened, he says they get within 50yds of aforementioned “persons” and, presto, gone. I ask “what do you mean, gone?” and he just looks at me with this blank stare and says “gone. they were there, and then they weren’t. weird huh?” Lots of other weird shit, mostly at night. Voices, wailing, screaming, whispering, phantoms in NVGs. I chalk most of it up to lack of sleep and high stress environment. Those “persons” though, hard to explain a mass hallucination like that though.

I recently woke up at night completely numb from head to toe, couldn't even open my eyelids for a few seconds, I thought I died for these few seconds until my eyelids opened and the rest of my body was numb and unmoveable, I thought I got paralized permenatly, it grossed me out because I felt like a corpse, but then slowly but surely my blood started flowing into the rest of my body, I felt like a corpse slowly coming to life, spooked me the fuck out, I'm don't know why that happened.

Same thing happened to me. You had had an episode of Sleep Paralysis. Google it.

I’ve been suffering from sleep paralysis for years now. Sometimes I’ll go months without an episode and then it will return with a vengeance. Old Hag syndrome as the old folks called it.

I remember the first time that it happened to me. My brother and his wife went for a vacation overseas and had asked me to house sit for them while they were away. I show up to their place in the late afternoon and unpack all my stuff. The night before I was having trouble sleeping and feeling just really ill for some reason.
It didn't take very long for me to doze off after my head hit the pillow, that's when it began. I opened my eyes and I could see the ceiling, everything was orange from the setting sun beaming through the window. That's when I felt an immense pressure on my chest, my neck and my face as if something were crushing me. I felt the most horrible terror I had ever felt in my life, I could hear my heart pounding. I tried to move but was unable to, I tried to scream but I just wasn't able to. That's when I had the distinct impression that I wasn't alone. I felt as if someone was standing in the partially open closet next to the bed. I knew I wasn't able to move my head. But I was able to glance at the closet and that's when the shadows in the closet got darker. That's when I thought that I was going to die.
Then I snapped out of it. I instantly sat up with cold sweat dripping from my forehead. I frantically searched the room, and the rest of the house. I was totally alone. I was not able to go to sleep again that night because I was too afraid. You see, at the time I had no idea that sleep paralysis was even a thing that happened so you could imagine what was going through my mind.

It's crazy that sleep paralysis is as common as it is. I've never had it before, but I've seen videos that look into it, and I've had people describe it to me. It sounds absolutely mortifying.

When I have it, I often see shadow figures and hear either a loud drilling sound or roaring. These visual and auditory hallucinations are due to the pineal gland still releasing DMT (the psychedelic drug which causes you to dream) into your brain when the episodes occur during REM sleep (the time period in which you dream).
Waking up to an episode of sleep paralysis is scary, giving you horrible fear, which triggers nightmarish hallucinations...making you conscious of the nightmares as they are happening.
A remedy I read about and tried is sleeping on your stomach.
Fun fact...a former friend of mine once recorded me during an episode...it was creepy...it sounded like I was struggling to quietly cry, and then you can hear me struggle to say, "...help...help..." before falling back to sleep.

A remedy I read about and tried is sleeping on your stomach. I remember having sleep paralysis for a brief moment one time when on my stomach and sleeping with my face in my pillow. Was afraid I was gonna suffocate there since I couldn't move but I guess my nose being somewhat available helped until my body realized it was supposed to obey my struggling commands to move even though my eyes were open. Maybe that's when it stopped happening, or at least made me sleep properly for a while and I still remember it each time I decide to plant any part of my face in the pillow which is fairly often but I never plan on sleeping with my face down 55something% directly against the pillow ever again :/

During a sleep paralysis episode, I once hallucinated my dad sitting in front of me and then began rapidly aging, followed by death, and then decaying into dust. It was like that scene from Indiana Jones when the one guy chose the wrong goblet.
