It's always so nice to come to an understanding. I can definitely relate to finding joy and comfort in anime during difficult and lonely times. I guess I'm just concerned that sometimes escapism can take people to places where they totally lose touch with reality, and anime with its warm and imaginative worlds is almost too attractive of a sanctuary. That's why I used expressions like "reality check". But you're right that generally it's better to focus on positive experiences, especially when we have such a wide choice of anime to watch. Cheers.
