Sorry dude, I have my own shit to worry about. I'm happy that you're finally confident enough to be unapologetically you...but I think it'd be childish to give a shit whether or not everyone else and their mom gave a shit about your sexuality.

I looked at that thread he linked to from 4 years ago. If I'm being honest I had trouble following my own train of thought from what I posted in there. It's weird that I'm so much more empathetic now than I used to be, but I'm met with ten times more backlash today than I ever was in the past. My posts regarding that video in the thread were entirely based on the child/parent relationship and nothing about homosexuality or coming out. I can tell that was a very loaded conversation and there was much more to unpack than was exposed in that video that goes much further than just his sexual orientation.

As doomworld's representative of the alt-right, my mind is so far removed from the topic of homophobia that my frustration lies in when people make the argument that the world has never been so full of hateful people. When people glare at my avatar for people to blame for misogyny and homophobia, I really don't think gay or transgender people have ever had a safer and more rewarding time to come out than ever before.

I guess I should offer *obligatory congratulations for coming out the closet on the internet*, but nah, instead I'll wish him good fortune and a future full of happiness and acceptance... being gay is perfectly normal, doesn't make you less human..

My favorite Youtuber whose right wing came out as gay after a long rant and everyone (the mythical hateful bigot crowd) was really cool about it and love his permanent falsetto because it makes his rants more cathartic (just a pity as he's getting older so it breaks sometimes, haha). Rob Halford's fans think it's hilarious when he tells the men in the audiences to take their shirts off. When a speaker came out as gay in a speech at a Trump rally, the crowd fucking cheered and Donald Trump said "you can't believe how happy this makes me feel to see this!" (ofcourse with snarky autists going on about "oh now they have their token gay" which is the same thing they say when there's a black man at a rally and call him a coon, just makes it feel like they give the people they rally for agency when they're on the "same team").

My point is society HAS come a long way since the 1950's, try walking to a random crowd at a party and tell everyone you hate the gays and you'd earn yourself a well deserved "fuck off dude", coming out as gay in the West is blown way out of proportion and constantly talking about "bigotry and hate" and then being responsible for and "liking" the most vitriolic posts in a certain thread and yakfak pretending to be a mindreader just makes me not really care for their definition of said buzzwords, and really not care for anything they have to say, like nothing at all... I'm interested to know how many of them came out to a family that actually rejected them?

The condensed version: Being gay isn't normal, but that doesn't mean being gay is bad...normal doesn't mean good, and abnormal doesn't mean bad.  I love you, deathevokation .

The longer version:

There's nothing wrong with being gay, but calling it normal isn't accurate.  If being gay were normal, being heterosexual would be abnormal and nobody would have a need to "come out" as gay because everybody would already be expected to be gay by default because that would be "normal".

There is nothing evil about being abnormal, and treating people who fall outside of the norm poorly by default is wrong.  But I always question whether or not people who say things like "being gay is normal" know what the word normal means, or if they understand that being called normal is neither positive or negative; it's just an observation.

Hell, on a global scale, being Chinese is "normal" simply because there are more of them than any other race on the planet.  Of course, the argument can be made that there are more non-Chinese people in the world than there are Chinese people in the world...but that's not important.

What's important is that what is normal and what is not normal depends on the region you're referring to.  

I don't have any numbers to back up this next claim (other than this site about annual global population growth rate).  But for me, "normal" is whatever is typical, meaning whatever is observed the most, meaning what occurs most frequently.  So if "gay was normal" for the human population, we should be seeing a decline in global population...but because we have literally never seen that in recorded history, being gay has always fallen outside of what is normal.

All of that being said...if someone's being pleasant towards you, show some reciprocation.  You don't need to be a dick just because someone has some abnormal qualities.  We all do.

But we can definitely agree on homosexuality not appearing to be nearly as abnormal as it used to, and a large part of the reason behind that is due to people being less afraid to admit it, I think.

Well, from my perspective, a LOT of things are being generalized these days. A LOT of things go decay in the wind and are being replaced with some rather trivial issues and overblown and overly-exaggerated political statements which have a faster expiration date than a ice cream cone on a sunny day. I sometimes find a thread on Tumblr which is the "typical" Tumblr session of hunting down the "straight white males" and being put to a lot of blame which frankly, they haven't done, nor have a probability that they were witnesses to their ancestors doing so (and therefore responsible). I will always remember a repost of a twitter thread of this native american girl who kept rambling about how "other nonatives keep misusing the word 'spirit animal'", and all I am thinking about is "Well you are obviously misusing the entire English language but no one is calling you on that", and stuff like that. Depressos at their finest. Its their favorite tactic. Pit another regular human being at another. Tumblr is great of course, if you want to look at art, and if you know what you want to look at, then you would barely see this stuff. But this one poster keeps reblogging this stupid stuff and I am seriously considering unfollowing. I just want my daily cup of aesthetics and wh40k, thank you.

I reckon, saying "But I am gay/lesbo/bi/pan/aro/ace/demi/gray/dendro/allo!" grants some sort of immunity to the effects of the witch hunts and works and doesn't work to the favor of the depressos at the same time.

Shame, I mean, a lot of people who are coming out these days had grown up being oppressed for who they are, so I guess they are legitimately agitated whenever someone says something to them they had already heard. That is how you get the angry left :3 I never felt "oppressed" for being ace, but that is purely due to circumstances. If I had shown traces of gay, I would prolly have most of my bones broken and re-healed at this point. I guess, the whole "coming out" effect is nullified when transferred online. I mean, in a place where you cannot tell if someone is lying or not, "coming out" can indeed look like attention-whoring, and cases like these exist, sadly. Still, there is a legit reason why "coming out" is a big deal to other letters of the LGBT alphabet. Except for aces. Aces don't give a fuck
