For the record, 40oz, my accusations about the matter at hand were jokes. But even if mrthejoshmon and others point out the insanity of running this show for more than a little while, I can't help but wonder if it isn't the case anyway. For example, your maps are indeed very similar, and Anonimvio's posts were almost exclusively going for the shock / controversy value, which you seem fond of. You know, to stir up a buzz. Even the morons at the other site seem to think that you are one and the same, but that may be because they read *this* site and are unable to draw any conclusions of their own. |

This is rumour control, here are the facts. 40oz and Autisimvio are not the same person. The guy shitposted for a while and then suicided his account.
I really don't know how to put it any plainer than that. I'm really not sure how to fucking moderate conspiracy theory insanity; frankly, I'm a little bit embarrassed to have be the one to tell you all to stop drinking piss because you've convinced yourselves that the piss is a lie.

What do you say about the mapping similarities 40? Is he a good imitator or what? It's not the easiest thing in the world to map as good as you.
update: Time to squash this shit. It has been proven conclusively, to me at least, that 40oz is not capable of the crimes that I've accused him of and that indeed I am a cunt and apparently I am good at jumping to conclusions and should quit this mapping caper and take up creative writing. Heh, well should that be a problem then don't ever watch my Doom streams, you'll see the save menu brought up very often. Filthy save scummer and proud of it.

I like continuous playing. I think you earned what you carry over from the previous levels. who cares if you get to use better weapons and more ammo? Good maps should be engaging enough even with all the good stuff.

Also, like I already said in the topic, playing wads that were designed for pistol starting continuously isn't going to make that big of a difference anyway because the map don't give you much resources, and it only makes the start more difficult, but that's about it.
I myself am playing everything continuously, I just like it this way more, and besides, many newer megawads, especially those designed for pistol starting in mind, feature suicide exits so it's not like keeping your equipment til the last moment is going to ultimately take you anywhere. Long live continuous and saving.

Or maybe it is, if we're talking about stuff designed for continuous play only, that is indeed going to have major shortcomings if you try to play each map with pistol starts. Playing stuff that was designed for pistol starting continuously is usually going to be fine, the other way around? Not so much. |

Good maps should be engaging enough even with all the good stuff. There are a lot of great aspects to continuous play. You get to see the affect of weapon and monster introduction over a longer period of time, it masks the coarse "hot starts" / "pistol panic" starts that have become the norm, and softens the effect of resource-based difficulty especially when it crops up in community projects. A lot of Chris Hansen's 2002: ADO's levels exhibit a lot of the last aspect because of inspiration taken from Richard Wiles's Crusades series, not to mention De-Moon Side, which is far more palatable when rolling in with supplies from Soto's "Back to Base X". On the flipside, I really liked the sort of action-RPG pickup pacing in your "Return to Ultima" level from 1994TU and that would be paved over during a continuous playthrough. I disagree about the concept of what constitutes an engaging level but that's because of the variability in what brings people to sit down and play Doom. |
