One of my favorite things to discover is enormous drama in niche communities. The other day I came across some massive flamewars erupting in the professional drummer world. It started with this video. Some of it depends on technical and esoteric music recording knowledge but you'll be able to get the overall point and go deeper if you want.

Heres another 'drama in other communities' i just saw. This video is made funnier because i dont know anything about or have any interest in learning how to play civilization.
I was thinking about how dumb it sounds that one of the best players of all time was cheating for so long (and being a dick about being good at it too,) because no one could prove he was cheating. Im aware of the competitive communities within doom but it sounds so much stupider in other communities even though its probably just as dumb to other people when they see it here as it is for me (or us) to see it play out over there.
Not that this is the same, but it's funny to think about a doom community 30 years from now when theres like a few dozen middle aged, graying hair, fifty+ year olds left who still play it. Theres one of them that is like ‘the best' at speedrunning because everyone else left the scene so hes just better by technicality. They gloat about being the best but none of the rest give a shit about speedrunning or winning competitions anymore. Then by chance one of them found out the person gloating was cheating anyway at speedrunning a game everyone has checked out of caring about ages ago.

40oz Haha, what is the point of that?! I can see fake drumming can help the guy get a job with a band, but what does one gain from cheating at speedrunning? This reminds me of some video I saw of a pro esports guy speedrunning through Doom 2016 and he had Hugo Martin there on stream with him to talk. But while he was playing he kept like interrupting Hugo every time he was doing some trick or brushing off what he was saying to make sure his run was the focus. His pinned comment is him addressing all the controversy...

qwaz Lol That's pretty funny. That other video is pretty funny too. "hey that development fact is probably awesome but everyone needs to see this door glitch im doing that's breaking your game, Hugo" Tbh I don't really like Hugo that much, something about his enthusiasm for Doom feels a little fake to me so this is kinda funny on both ends.

Karl is great at catching cheaters at video games. The best recent one was that QueenPwnzAlot egirl who was claiming to have done blindfolded boss fights in some game called Monster Hunter. She was so obviously cheating but refused to admit it. She even sent one of her fedora tipping m'lady mods to go try and defend her in a stream with Asmondgold and it was humiliating.
