my first release. ----------------------------------------- !READ THIS!:----------------------------------------- To make settings synchronized with the ones that I recommend to play just move file " gzdoom.ini" from folder with the wad in the folder "Documents/My Games/Gzdoom" RUN WITH "lights" ON, OR WITH "Lights.pk3"!!!Also, I recommend to use Vulcan instead of OpenGL----------------------------------------- ABOUT WAD:----------------------------------------- At first, I wanted to make this wad for Endoomer contest... but I was making it 6 months instead of 3...----------------------------------------- Format: UDMF Port: Gzdoom ----------------------------------------- Here are the screenshots. Note that they are from older version so they can be slightly different from newer ones Link to download the wad: www.mediafire.com/file/64gpiv0eem7mi61/WinterBase_v1.2.zip/file

So I finally got to play it today.
I liked it, nice visuals but not in an in-your-face-this-is-gzdoom kind of way: just enough to spruce it up but it still feels like Doom. Solid gameplay, not a major challenge but that's what I prefer.
Good stuff.

if watched, use -timedemo instead of -playdemo for speed.

I love the lighting contrast inside the base, as dark as the darkness is, you did a great job guiding me through the map. The structure of the map is awesome, it felt like playing the best of the 2000's era of ZDoom mapping, but with the intricate 3D detailing you'd see in a custom Quake level. The music is a big miss though, it's too upbeat for a map this dreary and dark. I used IDMUS08 for my playthrough, which improved the map's mood instantly. Having no music could've also worked well with the ambient sounds in the map. The latter half of the map feels dragged out with no meaning; all you do is backtrack through the entire map all the way to the start, except with tankier enemies. There needs to be more to it than that, here's a few; melt away some of the icy/snowy ground in the outdoor areas to make them trickier to navigate, and teleport in a couple cacos and lost souls when in the middle of crossing back. Flood some areas with damaging liquid. Lock one of the rooms/doors down, and open a new room to move through in the middle of the backtracking.

I will change the music, you aren't the first one to write me about that. About backtracking, I would've made something more interesting in terms of your way of navigation, but it's really hard to make "connections" in this kind of wads when there are a lot of sector portals, so I don't have any space to make an alternative way without making it look odd. Plus, personally, I can't say that backtracking (with combat) the first two rooms and the lift counts as backtracking through the entire map, so I thought this isn't a big problem
