Following Doom 1+2's rerelease, an introduction to a new mapping format was announced. The id24 doom map format heavily imitates the community-made MBF21 mapping format. The main difference being this map format is officially owned by Bethesda and community source port developers will be expected to adopt it to remain compliant with new Bethesda official map releases, such as the new Legacy of Rust that was bundled with the rerelease. Many doom community members have been extremely divided in their reception to this news. Whether this has future ramifications for the Doom community or is completely innocuous is to be determined at this time.

I'm curious about everyone's predictions.
Will the drama dissipate and all the major ports (gzdoom, dsda, retro, woof) add id24 support?
Or will there be a splintering (example, gzdoom/retro supporting vs. dsda/woof not supporting)?
Or do you think it will be roundly rejected altogether?

Here's my metaphor.
Suppose you start a lemonade stand where you're simply giving people lemonade for free. Everyone loves lemonade and people appreciate you for it. The rich kid down the street who was given thousands of dollars by mom and dad to start up his own lemonade stand opens another lemonade stand down the street. The rich kid can have better tools/equipment to make lemonade faster, infuse new flavors, use higher quality ingredients, and hire employees to enhance the customer experience. While selling the lemonade for $1, this still isn't as good of a deal as getting lemonade for free.
But eventually, making lemonade for this much demand means some of your lemonade stand's lemons are kinda bruised, you don't have enough cups, you can't provide ice anymore, etc. At a certain point, lemonade for a dollar stops seeming like such a bad idea. If you can get a new flavor, made faster, made with high quality ingredients, with ice and new cups, that's probably a better deal than getting trash lemonade you can get for free.
My prediction is that Bethesda has potential to win this by a landslide. They have an enormous leg up on the Doom community in the sense that they can utilize their multiple profit channels to outlast us. I don't have a single doubt about that. All Bethesda has to do is make mapping for Doom not fun anymore. And they will then exhibit full control of the doom modding scene by supporting chosen community members financially, something the Doom community will never be able to compete with. My fear is the doom community is not nearly united enough to resist this.
Even if source port developers opt out of supporting id24, the surrounding doom community will still advance toward it without them, driving them into obscurity. Eventually leading to a buggy source port that doesn't work, better alternatives pop up, and eventually the developers will get frustrated and leave and someone else who supports id24 will take their place.
The result is the community will be very confused about what they are really doing this all for. How do we get our maps seen if half of doom fans are being exposed to the KEX port only due to new consoles and excessive marketing? Who are the real doom fans? If the community is halved, that means mappers and source port developers have to pick a side. One of those sides gives Bethesda more money and control of how things are done (including the ability to shut it all down), and the other side is likely to be too underpowered and unmotivated to produce new things of value.
The only thing we can do about this is to use our voices to sway public opinion. Bethesda wants to kill off what we have because they can't profit off of it. We're going to lose this if we continue to accept Bethesda as an ally of the Doom community.

I expect there will be further fracturing of the community. I don't think it will be widely adopted and there will be a sort of corporate approved and unapproved side to things that will solidify more going forward. I expect the drama to die down as people accept that it is just where we are now. Ultimately it's a dw problem more than anything, at least for the foreseeable future. Their culture created it and they will be the ones experiencing the repercussions far more than us here. If they continue trying to monetize this hobby they will learn what that does to a community real quick.
If further maps are sold I certainly won't be purchasing them and I have zero plan to switch source ports to be able to play corpo doom, which is how I am mentally referring to it now.

As for confirmations, only Odamex and Eternity developers confirmed they will support it, these developers are also Nightdive employees. In a way Odamex has always been an "official" port because it has been used in deathmatch events promoted by id. Now, K8Vavoom, EDGE-Classic, DSDA and Woof are not going to support it, and GZDoom is very unlikely, it isn't a good indicator for the ID24 standard.

I did not hear all these ports were confirmed they would not support it, except for K8Vavoom which is confirmed by ketmar in another thread.

Lobo confirmed he's not going to implement it in EDGE-Classic, Kraflab created an alt-account on DW called DSDA-dev just to talk shit about the new standard in a very offensive and personal way. Graf Zahl is on a long vacation, maybe even retired and the other GZDoom devs don't seem to be excited about it. The developer of Woof seemingly liked some of the DSDA-dev's post.

Even supporting MBF21 Dehacked on its own would require more or less a rewrite of the Dehacked->DDF converter that we use for Dehacked patches as it is. Assuming either of us even had the desire to tackle that, I would say MBF21 is the absolute line past which no more standards should be entertained. Additionally, the mapping additions would be doing backflips to accomplish stuff that we already handle easily with our UDMF spec and existing DDF mechanisms. Same goes for the extra random lumps that ID24 demands.

Lobo confirmed he's not going to implement it in EDGE-Classic I did? Pretty sure I have not explicitly said this. Slightly related, Graf Zahl also "liked" dsda-devs DW post.

Ah, OK - I wouldn't read too much into initial reactions and likes. Almost certainly someone has already reached out to all those port developers privately to persuade them to adopt it. Unless they have definitively come out and said "under no circumstances; we will not support this", I would consider their position to be subject to change with time.

They don't have as much power to pressure others as you think, if anything happens, they will realocate to DB. Which is less popular but better than nothing.

Remember that Ketmar, Dasho, Gibbon and now kraflab are banned. Huh, OK then. Maybe they are limiting who is invited. It seems counterproductive to me, but so does many things about how this was done. But I really would be shocked if there's no id24 adoption campaign going on whatsoever.

It seems counterproductive to me Wouldn't be counterproductive if the interest or health of the community wasn't a concern. I could be misreading the room there but that's certainly the vibe I got. Along with plenty of gas lighting.

I largely have been inactive for a while here so I'll throw in my two cents: I'm indifferent to the enhanced port myself. I think the new wad Legacy of Rust that has been shipped with this port is cool and all, but hasn't necessarily swayed me from ditching my fav sourceport, Woof, in favor of playing the corpo doom port. Bethesda will have to be really retarded, however, to even attempt to do anything that harms the modding scene. Whether it be throwing C&D towards all existing mods, like how good ol Nintendo is known for, or try to find a roundabout way to try to monetize them. It's better in their interests to just let people be while doing their own thing.

The message is this: If you are not onboard with the spec, do not comment on it as your opinion does not count.
In other words, guess they just want an echo chamber.
