The trailer for Doom: The Dark Ages is out, with a planned release date of 2025.
Looks like it could be fun to play. It's clear the new canon has become its own thing; the "Doom" name is more of a genre-tag than anything specific.

Trailer's a bit of a mess, looks like Synthol Warhammer. Silver lining is that with the shield you possess a constant defencive option in combat? Not going to play it either way.
What needs to happen though: given that we had Eternal Doom and Doom Eternal, we need a Doom II WAD called The Dark Ages Doom to go with this title. DBP idea?

Looks like a weird brown paletted mix of Doom Eternal + Hexen for some reasons, but the ignorant fun things are all here: Chainsaw shield, Skull-charged shotgun, all the crazy stuff.
Also, FUCKING MECHAS IN DOOM! Not even in my wildest dreams i could ever imaginated these amalgamation of things. Looks like a very crazy 90s TC.

I still think it's funny that people actually thought they would revisit Quake. The hierarchy above modern id pretty much guarantees they are going to churn out Doom products until the kids that got into it through 2016 or eternal are so apathetic to new releases that they get shut down. Most of us old Doom fans are already rolling our eyes at this stuff so they depend on the kiddos to keep them afloat and I don't see that lasting after they start throwing random settings and concepts into a blender like this.
Never thought I'd live to see the day when Doom 3 was a more faithful Doom game than other mainline entries into the franchise. Strange times.

people actually thought they would revisit Quake Given Quake Champions showed they couldn't even revisit Quake 3 right, I have no idea what people would expect id to do with a Quake reboot |

When Doom 2016 came out I was really hoping to see a Plutonia sequel. If Dario Casali won't fight back on it, i would have really liked them to take doomslayer into the jungle ruins. I know there's some adjacent doom eternal campaigns with a jungle style but I think committing to Final Doom would really go hard.

Looks cool as fuck but I'm more concerned about how they're going way past what made 2016 enjoyable to me. Not taking the plot or the "DEEP LORE" seriously for some youtuber to spend 6 hours over analyzing it and just focusing on shooting a crap ton of demons.
Also me thinks this was supposed to be something else but they scrapped it and went with Doom instead.
