Since there's shit-tons of boom and mbf stuff that only use the iwad resources I'm assuming you mean vanilla in terms of gameplay? If that's the case I remember seeing a mod that makes the game turn based. forum.zdoom.org/viewtopic.php?t=62280 |

Since there's shit-tons of boom and mbf stuff that only use the iwad resources I'm assuming you mean vanilla in terms of gameplay? If that's the case I remember seeing a mod that makes the game turn based. forum.zdoom.org/viewtopic.php?t=62280 I remember playing this and mostly remember time essentially slowing to a crawl when you entered a room with a bunch of enemies as they all putzed around and maybe took a shot at you before you could move again. Conceptually though, it *is* interesting. Maybe if there was some sort of limit to the number of enemies visible who could take their turn and maybe also increasing the length of the player's turn might help with it? Maybe increasing the game speed (is that possible?) during enemy turns, or making all enemies -fast monsters and ending their turn after they've fired a single shot?
Or maybe it's a dead-end of a design?

Hacx uses entirely original graphics and even has new weapon and monsters. Also Freedoom uses its own completely new resources but gameplay is same as classic doom.

Technically Supplice is not a mod / WAD as it doesn't require the IWAD. It's also utter shit and highway robbery for its price.
Adventures of Square is actually decent if you like Chex / Pirate Doom / Golden Souls / cartoonish TCs in general.

And I also agree that it's WAY overpriced. Mechadon is such a good level designer; too bad he decided to put that project behind a paywall and make the protagonist part of multiple marginalized groups solely to cater to the woke crowd. |

Personally I have no issue with the protagonist, though I do have some about leveraging on a hobbyists' community to sell a monetized product. We'll have to agree to disagree about mechadon. He's a prime example of that crop of mappers that go big just to impress the gullible, making maps that are thrice as long, and half as fun as they need to be. Never played a Mechadon map that didn't make me feel drained, worn out and annoyed. Unfortunately Supplice has also many other flaws - bland art direction, generic story and setting, nu-retro fps bloat - but that's another story. |

Pretty much the same thoughts when it comes to the maps after finishing the demo. I can't speak for the protagonist and story because I didn't bother paying attention to either of those things. I think the reception would of been better if it stayed a megawad and not turned into a game. On the topic of GZDoom games, what about the price of Selaco? It's the second day in early access and already a commercial success based on the number of reviews from steam. |

what about the price of Selaco? I enjoyed the Selaco demo a lot, will probably get the whole thing pretty soon. From what I played it felt like much more of its own thing compared to glorified Doom TCs like Supplice and Age of Hell, so the price tag feels a bit more justified to me. |

Here is a (admittedly old) video of when we didn't have a name for it, but essentially it's trying to have the same mechanics as SuperHot. Watching probably feels more jerky than actually playing in this mode, as when you are playing you are in control and know when the playsim is going to stop/start. |
