It's definitely one of the GOATed WADs. I think I played a bunch of its beta maps earlier than that (edit: 2019). I still have to replay it and the remaining maps. Then there's the sequel I have to check out. It's one of those WADs that you could probably just play in no-monsters and just vibe out in, hunt for secrets, etc.

Yeah, it's pretty cool. There's sort of two sequels - the official Lost Civilization 2, which is for GZDoom, and there was that earlier beta he released which was more in line with the first game's style (and I believe was Boom-compatible). I haven't played either of the sequels myself though.

I think some of the later levels can drag on a fair bit (the last map in particular) but it's a lot of fun to go through on lower skill levels / nomo. A lot of meticulous micro detailing in maps can be really annoying, but Lost Civilization does a good job of making it not super intrusive to combat while also being very beautiful to just walk around in and explore.

Definitely one of my favorite mapsets, more so than Eviternity or Ancient Aliens even.

Does anyone have any recommendations of WADs similar to Lost Civ? Ones with larger, expansive outdoor sectors with enterable buildings?
I loved the amount of doomcute and how simple most of the keys/secrets were to obtain. Very relaxing "DOOM & chill after work" WAD.

sbz666 These doomer boards projects do a pretty good job setting the scene, warming you up and immersing you into the theme before the gameplay picks up later on. dbp50 emerald city (abandoned cities overtaken by nature) dbp59 Zepellin Armada (steampunk adventure)

sbz666 - I'd check out DBP:50 - Emerald City. It doesn't have the "larger, expansive outdoor sections" like Lost Civ and is more "buildings", but it might scratch an itch if you like post-apocalypse and plants.

Going through all the DBP's atm, completed 7 so far!
