So according to Steam I've played 23 hours of this masterpiece so far, they've recently added a free expansion as well so it'll probably end up going into 30 something, haha.
As opposed to most other 'retro' sidescrollers, the effort and love that went into this game turned it into something that's a lot more than merely standing on the shoulders of it's inspirations. Aesthetically; it's vivid, it's colorful, it's genuinely beautiful and the game world is full of charm, mysteries, great dialogue, and a variety of different environments. Gameplay is excellent as well, the mechanics are fluid, controls are responsive, and the levels are diverse and jam packed with ideas, and to top it off the soundtrack is amazing.
tl/dr: If you're a fan of old school sidescrollers then I totally recommend it.

I really want to play this! I've had this game on my GOG wishlist since it came out. I'm waiting for it to drop in price though, because I'm cheap.
