Hey team, first post to the forum. After reading the introductory message suggesting to make a music in this sub-forum and noticing a lack of a dedicated black metal thread thought I'd make one as this is the genre I connect with the most.
I've played in a few punk bands (mainly dbeat/hardcore) and metal (death/black) bands over the years and am active and participate in the scene as much as I can. I lean more towards traditional and die-hard styles of metal but my tastes still vary quite a lot within those realms. I play guitar, bass, drums and keyboard and currently working on a solo BM project. And of course I am a huge fucking Doom nerd.
Here's some of my recent favorites:
Nachzehrer - one man BM with a big Burzum influence but with some very catchy riffs
Darklord - legendary Australian band who play a curious but well calculated mix of symphonic BM and brutal death metal on twin necked guitars, insane band
Torturium - one man Finnish BM and very typical of the countries style of BM which has it's own very distinguishing and epic flavour. Super high quality stuff here.
Perverted Ceremony - 2 piece Belgium band who play super stripped back bestial Beherit/Von worship BM with some doomy influence thrown in, the real deal shit right here

haven't been tuning into such frequencies for a while. would recommend as general areas of insight (i'm not exactly breaking new ground here): first wave stuff, greek/mediterranean variants, legions noires, blazebirth hall

I used to be all about Black Metal, but I haven't listened to anything BM in years.

TBH, I like 1st wave (proto) Black metal the most... which really just sounds like Thrash.

It is actually a very Black Metal day here, because it is snowing like a motherfucker. But TBH, I'd rather hear something to the tune of Morbid Angel, and pretend I'm in Florida!
Norway is to BM, what Africa is to Rap, what Florida is to DM.

BM has almost exclusively been driving music to me for very a long time. Most of what I listen to these days I guess would be considered further on the post/experimental end of things. Still enjoy some oldschool shit on occasion but I enjoy seeing what comes out of different cultures and different takes on the genre.

Black Metal is a little too highly strung for me, both in terms of singer histrionics and guitar tuning. It has the attitude and acoustics of a shiatsu tantrumming and shitting itself in a bitch's handbag, and once someone points that out there is no going back.
You're welcome.
Still like this album tho. It's probably not tvre kvlt, but whatever.

I was quick to assume that this thread was related to some Borderlands character but now I see that is in fact a call of the herd of some sorts. Meh. I'm not into group sex myself but whatever faggots. You do yourselves here. While the fellatio's growing rampant in the background, I'll fetch my cap and try to elevate this excursus instead. ・・・ First things first. Linguistic pedantism (aka Etymology) ・・・ As per my very own haphazardly educational pursuit, in truthfulness, I declare that what yalls hearin' here ain't no Black Metal, or, -given modern sensibilities- 'elementally/minerally harsh music of afro-descent'.
Either way, a-term (Blacky Muhtal), fits not the narrative, ratherly, its palpably poorly descriptional as it upholds no nutritional facts in-label and, it goes without saying, that, such resembles more of a dildo brand above all elses.
Additionally; 'tis incontrovertible that the negro-oriented designation at hand was deliberately coined-up as commercial stunt to bewitch the impressionable youth whilst frightening their uptight pony-club mums in 80s Britain.
In conclusion. What'hine ears indeed'o listen is PTSD Metal*. That's a finer, factually fidedign'd, clear-cut compartmentalisation than of the prior. You're welcome. PayPal link in bio.
*i.e. Propensity Towards Satan's Dong Metal. We're gonna need a search team to find out who the fuck asked for your garbage opinion on the matter. You're a living illustration of that "stop having fun!" meme. What makes you think you have any kind of knowledge or authority to pretend you know better? Shut up and stop writing these fucking essays, you lack any writing skills or talent to make this gibberish worth reading.

P.s: Doom (and boards thereof) might or might not have a passing interest in satan and satanic imagery, I dunno, I've only been doing this shit for twenty fucking years, I've not noticed. I wouldn't normally bother responding to troll bait but, but since black metal deals near exclusively with trolls, it seems fitting.

lulz there's even christian blemmedul out there. most recurring theme in what i've posted so far isn't even cringey neopaganism or satanism, it's 1488 (two instances as opposed to one). 吃驚

>Trollskogen To catch mythical brutes, one need baits. Yet I see no such beasts in these woods. What I do spy with my little eye is people having anger issues. Lamentful. They should seek Jesus. >further semiotics Propensity does not equal incommutable partiality. It merely denotes predisposition which can and will vary accordingly. Apologetically-speaking, one could argue that even the slightest flirtation with paganism or mild case of pantheism ultimately means idolatry is at the gates, ergo, beelzebub's busting a phat load on your head. However 'twas not the point of my jesting but rather a play on syntactics. These projections are quite amusing still - never dream'd that one day I would be perceiv'd as some buzzkill Mary Whitehouse. >rock 'n' roll the press' dead, deepthroat's the future If well-versed in da black arts, one could employ itself as a necromancer - or- perhaps, start behavin' like a functional human being and get your fix via r/Metal and/or Black Metal Promotion. Notwhitstanding, if oral means still's prefer'd - what can I say? Have your ways, weirdo. >random case of the nasties Given that most sensible parts where nicely cover'd in green, I thought it was TOS kosher for certain. Sincere 'pologies for the ruckus and no worries.. you not gonna need to beam me up again Scotty.

An obscure Finnish BM band you used to listen too.
It used to amuse me how this fucking asshole on the cover looks like he's wearing a backwards baseball cap, because of the way he's holding the knife by his forehead.

Now that we've establish'd a more suitable nomenclature, polish'd the signifier, dispell'd any misconceptions and divulg'd payment methods - buckle-up! For we're about to take a closer look on what distinguishes, encompasses and personifies PTSD Metal. • What does sets it apart from the periodic table? • Who's da de-facto progenitor? • Why there's no twerking? All of this and much more in the next chapter of the saga, 'The Big Black Cope: Shellshock Music in Contextual Overview' -- a research paper brought to you by DBs prestigious scholarly investigator... Dr. Pick A. Shoe, Ph.D. Coming soon on your local Barnes & Noble! (Regional availability may vary. Paperback only.)

Excellent to see this thread take off! some out standing stuff linked.
@wernergoldberg big fan of the BBH stuff! Highly recommend Nitberg's Nagelreid album, probably my fave BBH release:
@kontra Kommando killer linkage, especially a big fan of that Dawn album, mid-late 90s Swedish BM has a great flavour to it, as does the early 2000' stuff like Craft and Armagedda when stuff went a bit more down tuned.

any fans of Black Magick SS here? probably my favorite band of all time, maybe not "technically" black metal, but it is very blackened, and most if not all good friends of mine who are BM fans are really into this band, myself included!
It can be a little tricky to explain this band, aside from it saying something like "psychedelic 70s sounding blackened heavy metal" or something. Just listen and you'll understand. Extremely fun band, got all their albums on vinyl!
