Is this still a thing nowadays?
I remember Metalheads and Punks used to hate each other when I was a teenager-20 something. I like both genres, but was ridiculed sometimes for it.
Now that I have a family and I am almost 40 years old, I tend to not care about inconsequential horseshit.
But I'm still curious nonetheless.

Well there's an awful lot of communist poseur punks raging for the machine these days, so that wouldn't help.

Well there's an awful lot of communist poseur punks raging for the machine these days, so that wouldn't help. In my day all of the punk rockers I knew were extremely un-PC. Some really hated communists. One of them became a cop and a couple of them served in the military.

The only punk rockers I knew that were annoyingly PC were Crusties.
Though I think a lot of crust punk sounds cool! But the lifestyle is total shit. They come out to shows in droves like gypsies, and wreak of absolute shit.

I liked Hardcore punk most of all, best intro ever. Those nancy-boiz that call themselves punks would get their heads cracked:

Yeah, gotta appreciate the true punk realists who grew up but didn't sell out.

Can't speak to what it's like today but back in the 2000s-2010s a lot of the younger metalheads I knew started also getting into hardcore and punk in general. Slayer was big among them and I think their album undisputed attitude covering punk songs was what started getting them to look into punk if I had to guess. Hatebreed was also very popular at the time which probably got them looking into hardcore.
