John Romero announced that he and John Carmack will be streaming live together on Dec 10th 2023 through Romero's twitch channel. They will be having an open chat to ask and answer questions about Doom.

I just wanted to say this "news" channel is really useful for things like this; I hadn't heard about this at all but would like to attend. There have been a few times where something like this has happened and I found out about it only through this news subforum.

Heh, I missed the live stream by about three hours. I thought it was going to to be sometime in the evening and then I look and aw shit it's 8 GMT because Romero's in Ireland last I knew. Well I watched while eating supreme pizza with added peppers and hot sauce and a beast of a white Russian I mixed in a large mug. Altogether a great stream. Great to see Romero and Carmack getting along and having a good time together after so many years. Some other good stuff I was watching was the subscriber notifications in the center of the stream. A little over 31 minutes in I saw LeeKillough!! He's the creator of MBF and another version of BSP I think it might have been 5.0 or something. So great to see him still around. He PM'd me on DW way back after he made his exit shortly after releasing MBF. The helper dogs whose behavior he consulted with an expert to make it realistic, improved enemy AI, mushroom explosion code pointer, beta item and BFG2074 emulation and implementation, all adopted by later ZDoom ports, you can thank him for. He was also one of the programmers of the whole Boom source port and editing features and responsible for great optimization. These users have apparently been banned from Twitch and are nonexistant four hours later after the stream but their names shall forever live on, ha ha! RagingCuckWillSmith DILF_Patrol Zombiefxck Ineedtoshartbadly Twitch admins' eyes probably bugged out of their heads when they saw those names. Well here's a direct link to the stream Good times! |
