Being a fan of strategy games, the Total War Series, and ancient history; I purchased Total War: Rome 2, when it first came out. However, the version that was released was disgracefully broken, and incomplete. On top of broken game mechanics, the overall design of how the game was played painfully bare-bones.That being said, a little over two years have passed since its official release, and the game has been updated with 17 patches. The most recent patch was released back in August. I had decided to give this game a chance again, and thus far it seems pretty solid now. I'm currently playing a grand campaign with the Roman Empire, as the House of Cornelia. I like how they decided to expand upon aspects of the game, that originally seemed a bit shallow, like the role of the Senate. I'm still exploring all of the new additions to the game, with its 17 additional patches.
This game should have waited to be released, it probably would have been a lot more successful. Instead, a de facto Beta was release for $60, and as a result, many people were extremely upset and disappointed. Not to mention, 19 fucking DLCs; many of them being pure horse armor! I would have to say, Total War: Rome 2, is on par with Aliens: Colonial Marines, in terms of lousy development, and misleading promotion. I didn't even know that there was a new Total War game out; Attila.
At any rate, here are some cool videos demonstrating in-game combat.
