i have a lot of friends that are into hardcore/beatdown/adjacent genres and apparently there's been a big uptick in bands/musicians in those circles either writing worship nu-metal riffs or outright copying the style and people saying they love the stuff lol
suppose we were about due for the trend cycle but ugh
reminds me how the popular opinion between suffocation/cannibal corpse flip flops every 4-5 years or so it seems

Noticed this myself for the last couple of years... heard that ex DTP & SYL members were forming a new band called Imonolith, got pretty hyped for it. The result was... ungood. Wasn't expecting them to go nu-metal, but life is a constant fucking mouthful of raw sewage, so I guess it's on brand. You can probably blame Chester from Linkin Park for this latest outbreak. In death, as in life, he continues to ruin metal. As for Cannibal Corpse... Fuckin A. |

The only good nu-metal bands are System of a Down, Linkin Park, Rage Against The Machine, and Disturbed. Maybe Korn and Slipknot too, haven't bothered exploring the nu-metal bubble.
