Really cool art style on display here. This is a weird trailer though, since the rest of the game, such as the level design, looks obviously incomplete. I feel like utilizing 3D props and realistic film noir worlds with realistic lighting might make obsolete the two dimensional sprite-based graphics.

Ambitious. They are really going to struggle with level design, tho: you're right, the shit you'd normally get away with in a low-rez boomer-shooter environment simply will not work here.
I've played with black-and-white level design before, and the only way I could get it to look anything like decent was by basically eradicating the mid-greys from the palette. I'd texture the whole fucking thing using something akin to pointallism, like old newspaper print, to get around the whole 3D-map-objects-v.s-obvious-2D-sprite problem: they are always going to clash, so you'd be as well making a visual statement out of it.
