Never considered myself a gamer, but after I got sucked into Quake/Quake II when they came out and played/modded/mapped for a few years, Doom3 was the first Doom game I played from beginning to end. It's still a scary oppressive game that holds up. I always have fun when going through it again.

I have an old CD containing old Doom 3 Mods from that Filefront site that me and my Dad put together somewhere some half a decade ago when I was a kiddo. Might only be DoomReborn though. Also my favorite mod was this one that was supposed to make Doom 3 look like Doom 1 & 2 by making everything colorful and pop (also made it less scary for me to play of course!).

I love Doom 3, I still have the original vanilla CD version from when it was first released. Also love ROE.

I love Doom 3. I am a huge fan of survival horror, atmospheric soundtrack, and disturbing imagery. Doom 3 has all of the above. I am actually playing through RoE again right now.

The BFG Edition has totally made the original game (and original version of RoE) obsolete for me and has also improved their standing for me significantly. They're good games to blast through and the Lost Mission was a great addition.

I liked it when it came out but it aged badly for me, tbh.. when I think of it now I can't help but think of the decline of fps shooters.
Btw, I haven't said it yet; but belated welcome Phobus.. despite one or two of my arguments I had with you I really respect you and I'm happy about your presence here, hope you stay for a while man.. :)

I remember first seeing it in a magazine ad nearly a decade ago now. Never played it, and I don't know much about it either, other than the basic plot and the "too dark" meme. But maybe I should give it a shot one of these days.
