This thread is going to be about obscure music, some of which may be from artists whose other music is lost. Obviously since I started the topic, I'll go first:
I was playing a fairly obscure game which had licensed music. I fucking loved the music in it. I looked at the credits of the music and went searching for the bands for more music. The credits had links to the bands' websites and a Myspace page for the ones who didn't have their own websites.
However, for all of the bands who had websites, it was down. Archive.org did have those websites archived but not the music itself. At least Myspace was still alive, so I thought I could easily find the ones with the Myspace links. But I soon found out that Myspace accidentally deleted(or something) everything they had between 2003 - 2015, so nothing on there between that was posted during those years will play. That's just fucking epic. So I looked up the band names, but nah, none of them yielded results I was looking for, not even on Youtube. I went to metal-archives.com to see if they were present there. A database with 166k bands surely has even the most obscure of bands, right? Guess what, even a site with that many bands didn't have any of the bands in their database, excluding a couple of them. All this showed how obscure the bands were.
So this game I played had licensed music from some really fucking obscure bands. What's worse is that these bands aren't even that obscure, because they were popular enough to get licensed in a game. It makes me think about all the bands out there whose work goes even more unrecognized. If this game licensed music from the more popular bands, then these bands would have barely any way of discovery. What especially makes me sad is that many obscure bands out there have music that is perfectly capable of competing with the music from the most popular bands out there. This really says a lot about how it's all about luck... But that's a topic that deserves its own thread.
I'll post some of the music from that game here. What do you think about it, do they deserve more recognition? The game is Polish, so I'm assuming the music language is Polish too.(excluding the third one)
It's been 1.5 weeks since I first heard them, but these 3 in particular have been spinning in my head all the time. I fucking love these.
Oh, and of course, if you know about any other obscure bands, post about them in the thread here, so they can get a bit more exposure than they have right now.

Maluch Racer 3. Nothing too good or too bad, I give it a 3.5/5. What do you think about the music?

Damn good stuff.
I remember when CNET pulled a major douche move, bought mp3.com, and then deleted EVERYTHING, replacing it with the usual pop music for sale, advertising stuff like 50cent in da club which I heard way too many freaking times in college.
Back when mp3.com had independent bands just uploading their music, I got a load of good gothic stuff. A lot of it I might have previously heard on 2nd Shifters Internet Radio. They had a .m3u file for winamp to connect to their station. The file was packaged with Skulltag.
Temple of Rain was a really obscure band I tried to but never found anything on since. Only have two songs from them: White Shade and Dark Night of the Soul. Then there's what seems to be their remix of Witches by Switchblade Symphony, I think I found later on some file sharing service and nothing more.
Ah, White Shade is on youtube and I just found one more song, Wicked.
There were two different bands called Nocturne. I think one is Noctune pdx. One was more gothic and softer with male vocals while the other was more metal with harsh female vocals.
There was a duo of an operatically trained woman and a rockabilly guy, called Project North Meets South. Got a song about a zombie apocalypse called Nightmare that's apparently an uncharacteristic oddball by them.
I got some songs of Screaming Dead, a punkish goth band with male vocals. People of that band later went on to form the female-fronted Inkubus Sukkubus which is more gothic pop rock, but the first openly pagan group I heard and collected some music of, both downloads from mp3.com and some CD's. There's plenty of Screaming Dead on youtube. By the looks of a comment, their front man had an older band called Waste, but that's going to be harder to find since it's a common single word and there seems to be a newer heavy metal band called Waste with probably no relation.
Less obscure stuff:
Two bigger bands I got a bunch of music of were Draconian and Tristania. I should see about getting some of their CD's. I play lots of physical CD's in my car and occasionally at home.
I don't think saw them on mp3.com but I originally heard Cruachan on that 2nd Shifters station. I collected their first four Cd's and got their 5th and 6th soon after they came out. I think someone from them was involved in that Metalocalypse cartoon with Dethklok, since I see his name in the credits, Keith Fay.

Hmm, Temple of Rain has some pretty cool stuff, it's a shame the rest of their work may be lost forever thanks to CNET. Calling their decision a "major douche move" is definitely an understatement.
Also yes, searching for almost any obscure band is difficult due to unrelated search results coming up all the time, so a band name with a single word seems almost impossible to find.

Well the group Nocturne PDX, the one with male vocals, is on bandcamp. nocturnepdx.bandcamp.com/musicWell here's something funny. Both Nocturnes might be the same group. www.youtube.com/channel/UC_Zw2rewuG2Av5hIWOlgMcQThe End Age album is the softer music with male vocals and Paradise Wasted album is the metal with harsh female vocals. Here's a good North Meets South but I think this is a different, younger group and the name doesn't start with Project. I think it was two older people back around 20 years ago. The voice seems definitely different. www.reverbnation.com/northmeetssouthSo here's a zip of that Project North Meets South - Nightmare and two Temple of Rain tracks, dated 2003 - 2004. ToR's remix of Witches is track 10 on Switchblade Symphony's Sinister Nostalgia remixes collection album so I didn't include that. www.mediafire.com/file/47tohsvpou7oytl/lostmusic.zip/fileUnfortunately they're only 128kps but I don't hear any real bad artifacting outside of the purposely distorted parts of Dark Night of the Soul and its annoying techno glass crash sounding beginning.

Good to know that Nocturne's music is not lost, I'll give them a listen. Also thanks for posting those tracks, they're awesome. Do you want me to post the other music from that game I talked about in the OP? By the way, I decided to just lazily search "mp3.com archive" without expecting any actual results of an archive, but holy crap, I did find something. Unfortunately it's not a complete archive, but that is maybe because the archive was scraped from the website a long time earlier than the takeover of mp3.com. It's called the mp3.com Rescue Barge: archive.org/details/mp3-com-rescue-bargeI tried searching for Nightmare and Dark Night of the Soul to see if I could possibly find their other tracks too, but I didn't find them. I guess it's because they're from 2003-2004, which is probably much later than when the archive was scraped. The legend who is responsible for the Rescue Barge chose to be anonymous though, so we can't tell them how helpful their archive was, if we did find something we wanted. There is also a neat project which aims to make a skeleton of the website(the website without the music) online. This helps a lot in finding everything that an artist made, or finding cover art of the music. Some of the images seem to be missing though. The website: mp3-2003.computer-legacy.com/Temple of Rain's page: mp3-2003.computer-legacy.com/artists/36/temple_of_rain.htmlProject North Meets South's page: mp3-2003.computer-legacy.com/artists/421/pnms.html

You're welcome.
Heh that rescue barge is 960 GB. That's 960 GB of independent music that CNET decided to strike down and attempt to erase so they could spam the usual commercial shit in its place. I only had a 120 GB HD at the time.
Well good work on the major finds. Now just need another terabyte drive.
The rest of that game's soundtrack would be great.

Here's all the music from that game: www.mediafire.com/file/dx4y6i0cl2edtyd/Lost_Music%2528kinda%2529.zip/fileI'm making some progress on contacting the bands who have their music in the game, I'll make a post once I did I've attempted contacting all those bands. Emphasis on "attempted" though because currently, they probably don't use the same methods of communication that they used to use back then. Or maybe they forgot about music and moved on to other things. Well, there's many other reasons that I may not get a reply, but it's worth a try.

A week ago for a long car drive, I burned that whole Maluch Racer 3 soundtrack to a CD along with the PNMS - Nightmare, three tracks by Nocturne PDX, and these couple tracks: Before that, I found an old CD I burned about 20 years ago with other stuff from MP3.com.

I (vaguely) remember going to a concert that was a collection of small indie metal bands.
I remember one of the lyrics being "If your life was on the line, I wanna/am gonna be the one who pulls the trigger", can't find this song anywhere online. I forget whether the line was "I wanna" or "Am gonna", but if any of you have any pointers on where to look for the song, I'd greatly appreciate your efforts in helping me find it. It was a real ear-worm of a song.
As for obscure songs, I think you should check out the band "Atheist", an obscure band that deserves much more recognition than they get.

More than 4 whole ass months later, I'm finally replying to Gokuma. Procrastination is a bitch... That DW thread you posted does have a lot of interesting information about both Bobby Prince's work, however apparently only one of the tracks made it to the rescue barge, Xenorage LIVE, according to one of Revenant100's replies in the thread. And the CD seems to have extended versions of some tracks while also having shorter versions of some other as noted in one of Doom64hunter's replies... Weird decision, but it was probably because of the limited capacity of the CD as noted by Revenant100. I guess we'll have to hope that he still has those on his hard drive but it seems unlikely. The Noid seems to be from the same time range from when I would be worried about possibly permanent deletion, but that channel you provided the links from seems to have their only recorded album(I didn't find any more after scrolling through their Facebook). The video descriptions say "Provided to Youtube by CDBaby". I'll check out what that is later. After a short time of searching on the web I found this: www.soundclick.com/artist/default.cfm?bandID=14316&content=songsNot all of the songs seem to be downloadable for some reason, but some download manager or site grabber should be able to download them. It's good to know that PNMS's stuff isn't lost. I found this Reddit post about Temple of Rain: https://www.reddit.com/r/goth/comments/xzxm0v/an_unknown_jewel_temple_of_rain/ It talks a bit about their history and describes their music pretty well. It also includes a link to the Wicked EP but apparently the file is missing. I think I'll contact the OP. He may contact an owner of the second one too like he said in his post. Screaming Dead, Draconian, Tristania and Cruachan doesn't seem to be that obscure but that's a good thing, it was easy to find their music. Thanks for introducing me to this subgenre. Now for the Polish bands I posted about: HOPE is probably still active, considering that their Youtube channel was updated rather recently. Rumor probably was too, but their site seems to have went down just a few weeks ago :/ And guess what, the contact page isn't archived, what luck. Killing Silence has a Youtube channel, but it was last updated 5 years ago and the site seems to be down. Surely they'll revisit it someday, I've left a comment on the latest video in hopes of a reply. I received a reply to the email I sent to Another World's and Off-The-Cuff's emails, which was a pleasant surprise! Also funny coincidence, both of the guys who answered it were their respective bands' bass players. AW's bass player, Daniel Niewinski, offered to send me the only album they recorded, but unfortunately due to real life problems that are almost exclusive to where I live I can't send my address nor any money as a donation. I guess I'll have to wait until later in life. OTC's bass player, Michał Koprowski, sent me their Youtube channel which I didn't even know existed. It doesn't seem to have all their music, but he said that they can be made available. I'm not sure he's willing to go through the effort to post them for a stranger, but considering the fact that I'm one of the very few that sent them an email, he may do it. Guess I should ask him. I sent an email to AD HOC's studio and multiple Chiragra and Requiem members, but I didn't get a reply yet. And I didn't find any contact information about Eho at all :/ Also that's a cool song you posted chocolatedoomer, I'll check them out. Well, that's it for now. Hope to talk about more obscure stuff in the future, to check out more goth metal, and maybe find out about more the Polish indie rock scene from those two guys I received emails from. Goddamn, I can't believe I delayed such a plain ass reply for this long. I guess it'll take me a while to stop procrastinating things.

good-old Good find on that rare post about Temple of Rain. Some bands I mentioned are simply lesser known and some are more obscure. No worry about the Noid stuff disappearing. They're a current band in my region and I see them here and there. They might be on some music platforms. Psycho 78 is also the same band doing Misfits tribute shows.
